lol it is ;) - just not for my wallet. Think I need to add one of these to my chassis bolts order... hmmm

I usually head to Thame to be honest... Rising Sun wont put football on the TV, yet Rugby and F1 is fine, RAT feels a bit like a Chinese takeaway waiting room, and I'm not overly keen on the KH :( I sometimes take the kids out for a lemonade, but usually I'll have a beer in the garden, a while back I sat out with a beer in the sun and cleaned and polished my fogs and indicator clusters for the VR, felt like I was still getting a bit done despite being swamped in building work ;)

Ahhhh nice find! I've been looking for the VW badge in Chrome!

I joined FB years ago to keep up with friends I met travelling... I left it years ago as well as it just got worse the more people that joined it... like I said earlier people posting their dinner! get a life! I've recently re-enabled my account after being talked into it by a couple of friends... I've looked a few time and its still the same old cr@p just with more advertising. I'm already getting the hump with the emails I receive prompting me to log in and see my best friends new message... probably about what they're having for tea.... or their dog parking it's breakfast somewhere new... joy I hope more people will head back to the forums once they realise how bad it is... and I'm a geek! - or is it just grumpy? Hmmmm

Cant stand Facebook... way to many pictures of peoples dinners, beds, pets, and generally people airing their dirty washing and political views... none of which I give a t0ss about. Forum for me. ;)

Got bin loads of it... and it all ends up in the same tubs, technical, star wars, Ninjago, City, DC, Batman... I did fancy the Porsche, but again theres not much change out of 200 quid.
-
No way I would be putting an 80 quid Chinese timing chain on a VR6 engine... if it fails it's the end of the engine.
-
Ahhhh yes! I know who you mean - often wondered about the croc lady.. seems a poor old soul :/

Welcome, a lot of helpful people here as I've found out so you're in the right place. I'm also an OEM+ man and I'm rebuilding a neglected VR6 with ether genuine or as "close as" I can get parts. I've kept the original 12v engine and done a few tweeks, it was over-bored and high compression pistons fitted as it was slightly worn and made sense to do so whilst it was in bits (although my wallet argued that point!) , the head was ported and polished with the inlet and exhaust matched and a pair of Shimmel 263's popped in for good measure, the only visible mod on the engine is the Shrick Manifold - I've yet to experience this, but I've heard/read good things. I hate to say it but I'm also not a huge fan of the standard wheels these days ether :( - it was always a "Hmmmm" point for me when the car was new, probably because we were fitting 15" BBS on MK2 GTI's in the early 80's so when VW sent out this awesome looking car with huge wheel arches on 15" rims I did scratch my head a bit. But definitely keep your standard wheels! they have a place with the car and it increases your sale window should you want to part with the car. These would be my perfect wheel - right year and design for me:- http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?97625-BBS-rs301-s-for-sale Interior wise the leather electric Recaro seems to be the holy grail - but like the BBS wheels you'll need to have the cost of near-on another Corrado burning a hole in your pocket ;) - not sure on the Porsche seats but I have read that Audi TT seats kinda fit. Suspension I went for Bilstein B12's as they're matched shock-spring and don't overly lower the car keeping that OEM sort of look. Just need to get the thing back together now! LOL!

Not seen it to be honest.. I don't mind the work as I come from a building background.. there doesn't seem to be anywhere they're not building here at the moment, we're heading for town status... I'm hoping to flip this one and maybe head to Thame. AVDC are doing what they did to Aylesbury many years ago to every small town and village they can now.

Hmmm I've used Tesa tape on my engine bay... waterproof and heatproof... never had any issues with it.
-
I had a TR7 that colour ;)
-
Morning, picked up a project on Church Way - in the middle of knocking the bathroom out.. will be a while before I can move in :(
-
Yeah I just can't wait to get it going.. house move has put the Corrado on the back burner and any plans of bombing round in it this summer are well and truly out the window :( The Shrick is VHT directly to cleaned and scotchbrite'd castings and the cam cover is Eastwood alumi-blast paint which is almost identical to the factory colour, again to a thoroughly cleaned and scotch'd item.

Morning Hasan - hammerite usually goes direct to bare metal, but in my experience pretty much sticks to anything, if it doesn't react I think you'll be fine ;) Nib off and rough bits in the primer with very fine wet paper (1000+) for a super smooth finish
-
VHT Crackle finish ;)
-
Very nice work there! - once the paint goes on it like a weight being lifted.. been in that position with GTI's in the past ;) - got it all to do one day on my Corrado :(
-
The VR6 one is still order-able from VW Heritage... might be worth checking there for the G60 one
-
My car had stood for many years 4+ outside when I got hold of it, turned out to be the ignition switch, swapped that, primed the fuel rail and she fired into life. I'd recommend a genuine VW one, its a fiddly job so do it only once ;)

Three at the Chiltern Hills Car show near Aylesbury at the weekend... This one was nice.

Interested in the wiper mechanism ;)
