Is it me or is the routing of the loom under the bonnet a complete ball ache!! re-wrapped the loom... well most of it, just trying to do the bit that picks up from the battery, it's just a freaking mess! Anyone got any close up pictures of what they've done?
-
Indeed! cheers fellas! much appreciated ;)
-
I'd love a look at the original manual as well if possible :)
-
Welcome along - they're a good bunch here. ;)

The kit from Stealth has the revised parts in it.
-
cheers Cressa ;) I'm pretty chuffed with it, timed it all up today, then did the test run with the manifold... got so much going on with it, gearbox casings have been aquablasted and the box rebuilt, I'm re-wrapping the loom, gasket matched and polished the exhaust manifolds, the front sub-frame is back in... I really need to update my build thread.

Some ******* stole the badge off my Storm...
Geeba replied to Mystic Rado's topic in General Car Chat
Scumbags! hope they got the badge off clean in some respects... sometimes its the damage they do getting it off that is the PITA! When I bough my car someone had tried to pull the red VR6 off the back... it had snapped and left an R6 and a big gauge in the paint :( -
Odd... When I called the dealer I was told pretty much every part was obsolete from about 2014. Make sure you get the revised tensioner without the rivits.. I found bits of mine in the oil pump strainer. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

Cheers Be interested to see the performance ones ;)

I was going to research new injectors.. surely there are revised or updated items that offer better atomization and performance that will fit the VR? - these are at the end of the day 25 - 30 year old injectors. I know Kev was running Mazda RX8 items, but he had standalone management and big HP so I don't think they will couple up well with the stock ECU.. Anyone bought new/revised injectors?

Change the oil. I've only ever had 2nd gear issues, usually a crunch and it was indeed the synchro.. oil change did extend the life a little and reduce the frequency.
-
I bought the revised timing chain kit from Stealth, Vince had it in stock and on the shelf - gaskets I bought ether from Heritage or Main Stealer, all have been listed/sold as genuine VW and all have been Elring.

Eastwood Chassis black. Its expensive, takes ages to dry but the finish is fantastic. https://www.frost.co.uk/automotive-paint-coating-electroplating/automotive-paint/eastwood-paints/eastwood-extreme-chassis-black-satin-397g.html I've done all my small brackets etc with it.

DIY the matrix... take your time, plenty of pictures and label stuff up.. its just awkward and time consuming... soak the nut connections in the bulkhead with oil a few days prior as they will be rusty, follow one of the online guides, allow a weekend.

What are those wheels Rob? - I like them!

Hi Hasan Its this stuff from frosts https://www.frost.co.uk/vht-black-wrinkle-finish-310ml.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiAv_HSBRCkARIsAGaSsrDJ3NVrsmkoZOlULikZqBD_DMvQT1ndv07uXo1JogmivnAWuI9faFQaAqgsEALw_wcB It has come up amazing.. it was the second attempt to be fair... I put it on to thick to start with and not only was it uneven it wasn't drying properly... so out came the paint stripper and my Porsche mate who's an ex-painter did them, it really does look like a factory finish close up, chuffed to bits with it ;)

Hiya George! - yeah I'm really pleased with it, decided not to polish it in the end, but the crackle coat looks really good.
