  1. Yes, I know what you mean. I have about 175 on my very unofficial "Storm Register". That list is not growing very fast these days so I personally don't think that there are very many left. I suppose there may be more Storms left as a % of the 500 than there are other models remaining from the original 9,000 sold in the UK which may explain why we think they are more common than 500/9000 would suggest? :geek:
  2. Hi there. Really depends on what's important to you. Performance wise there's no difference (although some say the badges make you go faster. Storms had leather, heated seats and air con all of which were options anyway so the only totally unique things were the badges (gear stick surround and rear of the car) and the mystic blue colour on half of all the Storms made (500 in total) . Just maybe a Storm might have been better looked after but there is absolutely no guarentee of that.
  3. Don't worry, you can have them for free - just PM me your address and I'll pop them in the post to you
  4. Might be able to help - I definitely have a number 2 and also have an unmarked one that I always assumed was 1. Happy to send em anyway!
  5. Looks great! The wheels really suit it
  6. I'm pretty sure when I had a new windscreen fitted (under insurance) in my old valver (late 1990's) the fitter said it would have cost over £1000 if I'd had to buy it myself!
  7. Thanks Gareth. I've probably taken hundreds of shots on the drive so wanted to try a something different today. To be honest the photos flatter the paintwork a little and I'm beginning to feel the pull of a polisher.
  8. And use 2 buckets - rinse off the sponge or the mitt in bucket number 2 which avoids grit accumulating in bucket no: 1. Good quality drying towel is worth while too. My favourite product has to be Mer Bumper Gel - looks like runny green snot but works wonders on exterior hard plastics - roof trims, door handles, grill etc and the best bit is that you can do the whole car in less than 5 minutes - Halfords sell it. One bottle will last you a lifetime!
  9. Good to know there are fitters out there who can do a good job on these.
  10. Sun shining and a willing helper means time to buff! Question is who has the hottest rear?
  11. Very impressive, reckon its cleaner than your VR? Yellow will show the dirt so I bet she gets a more thorough clean!
  12. He's a dedicated driver that's for sure. I think he moved out of Manhattan so he could drive more! "The engine on his car has been apart only twice [2] at 680,000 and at 2,690,000 miles. Gordon credits his longevity secret to a strict but sensible maintenance program. He changes the oil every 3,000-3,500 miles using Castrol Oil and Volvo oil filters, he changes the transmission fluid every 25,000 miles, and he replaces the points every 20,000-25,000 miles along with the spark plugs. To put 2.8 million miles in their proper perspective, Gordon could have driven his Volvo P1800 to the moon and back (560,000 miles) five times. Instead, most of its first 35 years were spent in bumper-to-bumper traffic on his daily 125-mile commute on the Long Island Expressway, which Gordon refers to as the world's longest parking lot." Apparently he thinks nothing of driving to Cincinnati for a coffee and once drove it to Sweden to see the factory where it was made. He drove 1500 miles in the first 48hrs he had the car and now says he might sell it to Jay Leno but for no less than $1/mile - if only we could get those prices for our Corrados!
  13. This story is about a guy who has driven his Volvo P1800sports car almost 3 million miles in 45 years. Uses it as a daily (obviously to get those miles). Its an amazing story - didn't even need an engine rebuild until 680,000 miles! Apparently Volvo have given him several new cars over the years as a reward for all the positive publicity he's given them. Nice looking car as well http://www.core77.com/blog/object_culture/the_volvo_p1800_part_3_irv_gordon_and_true_product_longevity_19432.asp
  14. Be good to have a meet up Jake. Hopefully your're through the worst now?? Can't make Coleford due to family commitments I'm afraid but tempted to come for a bit of convoy action ask the missus to smoke me a kipper and be home in time for breakfast:-)
  15. Up and down to D&G for a full service today. All well and good. Thanks to Graham and Adam for taking such care and giving the old girl a good going over so to speak! Not having driven her for 6 months I took it very easy on the way up but had a bit more fun on the way back. I've forgotten how much fun it is to drive and how much poke it has even when making good progress. I have a new Alfa Romeo Gulietta as a company car and have been thinking how good that is but its not a patch on the C!
  16. Glad its sorted Jake. Nice day to spend with the car and show her there's no hard feelings!

  19. More bits added on page 1 We can bring stuff to the AGM tomorrow if required but be quick!
  20. If money is really tight then I'd say break it. Head over heart as far as family goes. At the end of the day its just an inanimate object however much we love them and want to imbue them with personalities. Providing for your family is much, much more important. Also if nobody broke then it would be hard for a lot of cars to be maintained at the level they have been over recent years. I'm sure when there are no more breakers that folks will find ways around it but it will be hugely more expensive so you could view it as doing your fellow enthusiasts a favor And congratulations on your news!
  21. Damn - sorry to hear about that Jake. That car has certainly tested your patience. Whats the plan from here?
  22. I work in a part of the NHS that has lots and lots of vehicles. We are filling our bunkers to the brim and keeping them there and we know of several other organisations doing the same thing. The problem is no one knows when or if it will hit. Apart from filling the tank in the car there's not much more panic buying I can do other than filling the lawnmower!
