  1. Thanks Jake - I had forgotten about that too!
  2. I confidently predict prices for good examples will double in the decade. Supply and demand are both powerful forces. Plenty of folk who admired/coveted these cars as youngsters will be approaching mid life crisis point and be prepared to splash the cash to grab a piece of their youth. On the standard v modded debate I do agree, on balance, that best prices may be for standard but there again most mods can be turned back without too much hassle - all mine (with the exception of the bigger brakes, SP263 cams and soon to be final drive) could be done in less than a day with the parts I still have in the garage. Having said that I don't really get why someone would want to delete the majority of performance/safety/utility enhancements that are so suited to the car and are pretty much invisible.
  3. Bonnet to bulkhead earth strap ordered from VW today (£12.04) - been a while since I've spent anything on parts so don't resent that even though theres not much to it - at least they're are still in stock
  4. Yep, saw this a few weeks ago. Really good - amazing how high the chances of dying were back then compared to the safety first approach of today. Some of the cars left the drivers scarily exposed.
  5. Lots have those feelings but may be worth squeezing another summer season out? I'm sure if you do decide to part company it wont stick around long. Have you had rear parking sensors fitted?
  6. Having driven behind him on Monday for a couple of miles I'd say its very heavy
  7. A few photos from today and lastly but not leastly thanks to Jake for getting this organised!
  8. Sunshine, cars galore , scenic pootles and homemade pasties (big thanks to Jake's Mum) made for a very enjoyable day:-) Good to see everyone. Hope you made it home ok Oz? - sorry about the windy single lane track detour on the way home - the road looked just too interesting to ignore:-) Pictures to follow.
  9. Thats too clean - you can park next to someone else tomorrow!
  10. Good man - this was the news we'd all been waiting for! Do we know where our parking lot is?
  11. Thanks Jake. Looking forward to this. Weather should be a darn sight warmer than last year. For those with Satnav I make the 1st pit stop GL14 1PA (7:45am Westbury on Severn High Street) and the second GL15 4PA (JBH Associates parking lot 8:15) As far as I know it'll just be me - but I eat a lot!
  12. Cracking photos, cracking mota! Headlights do look good, are you running an uprated headlight loom with the HID kit?
  13. Hi - I may have this from the breaker that CazzaVR and I did. Is it the trim thats about 1m long at the top and 30cms at the side? I think they are sided (part numbers 535 837 431 & 2). Both are in excellent condition. I'm a 3 miles from Junction 14 of the M5 if you're interested Vaughan
  14. Many thanks for organising this Dave/Karen even though I wasn't able to stay for the treasure hunt thingy. Really, really enjoyed the convoy up with CazzaVR and Swompy (that didn't take long did it!, makes me realise how much I miss driving the VR) -and a full English in the sunshine. Good to see old and new faces after the winter break and West Mercia's finest also popped along for a chat!
  15. We let it go for nowt as it wasn't rolling and was quite a job to get out of the shed, up a sloping gravel track and onto the truck. Took 5 of us!
  16. Last journey for our breaker yesterday:( Felt strangely emotional seeing her (we came to know her as "Candy") unceremoniously hoisted up for a one way ride to the crushers last night We have learnt a lot about how Corrados are put together over the last 14 months and made a tidy profit in the process but I suspect it won't be something we'll rush into again - too much like hard work! We still have several boxes of parts left over and will bring these to Bristol Volksfest later in the year. Also saved the tailgate as it was too good to let go. Some solace to know that parts have been sent the length and breadth of Britain helping keep others on the road or back in shape (From Cornwall to the Shetland Isles, Norfolk to Anglesey).
  17. Yep but if you are registering as a new member you have to pay subs? - It wouldn't allow me to re-register as it could not find any record of my username or e-mail.
  18. I had the same problem Charlie so I re-registered as if I was a new member - easy after that. It did force me to pay my subs but as I think it was due for renewal anyway I didn't object.
  19. Nice work both. Looks a lot better and lovin the events booking system which is so much easier
  20. Hi Eric - I think there was a thread on the CCGB for this but I know there are some issues with that at the moment so can I re-book a place here please? This show always seems to get good weather and I think its one of the best in the calendar.
  21. No such thing as an honest budget if you ask me. The detail in the small print of the official budget release (>100 pages) reveals all kinds of nasties including a switch from indexing allowances from RPI to CPI which is a stealth tax rise if ever there was one. In terms of cheap political points and concern with polls it may have escaped your notice but there are over 300 local elections in 6 weeks time!
  22. But to put that in perspective John you'd need to seperate the track day costs - probably doubles or trebles most categories of spend? Driving these cars still offers good value for money if you ask me especially if you play in how much more you'd be paying in depreciation for a more modern car. Anyway its not all about money is it;-)
  23. True Grit 91/100 - Another brilliant performance from Bridges who really is made for this type of role. I thought this was much tougher (grittier if you like) than the original and much better for it. Still has the classic line "fill yer hands you son of a bitch" at the end. No fairy tale this just a hard bitten western that you won't quickly forget.
