Dont forget to saw that plastic part off the bottom of the glovebox if you want an easy life next time
-
Its true that the early vr used the fabric type gasket which used shorter bolts and the later rubber type gasket used the longer bolts
-
Coolants about right but oil is a bit hot what temps were you getting before
-
Brilliant heard it was happening today but over the otherside of the country no chance of seeing it.
-
Ah just realised its 536 *** *** that you need as yours is rhd
-
Whys it wrong mate ?
-
Will do mate all ive done is replace the rear calipers as they were binding. Like you say once you get past that sponginess it stops on a penny
-
You mean you put brake nipple at the bottom of course, as they are supposed to go at the top as air rises
-
G13 plus i think is the newest one mate as for bleeding ive always updone the header tank cap and taken the top rad hose off and then filled with coolant via the top rad rubber hose until you start to see coolant in the header tank. Once you see coolant in there then put the top rad hose back on the radiator and put the clip on, then top up the rest from header tank. This stops any air locks happening. Then all i do is start the engine with the header tank cap off up to about 70deg then put the cap on and run upto fans coming, turn off the car let it cool and then top up the header to middle of min and max. Always check for leaks as your going along as well

Mines the same pressure bled and long pedal spot on at the bottom of travel going to run it for a week and then rebleed
-
Its turning inside the plastic of the heaterbox so pulling on the heaterbox from the inside should pull the stud out of the plastic
-
It can probably be extracted mate but you will see if yours is like mine the nut you have to get hold of inside the car is the slimmest nut known to man and then you need someone in the engine bay removing the bolt (mine was rusted to hell and no chance of removing without snapping it off. Then you'll have to glue the thread back into the plastic of the heaterbox which has no thread left in it as the thread has worn away. As said though yours might be alright but the two i have done have both been the same.
-
You can either try removing the bolt etc with the heaterbox out of the way (more access) or as i did just push the heaterbox back onto the stud and do the other two bolts up. Ive had no nasty vibrations doing it this way and the way the centre console is bolted in theres very little chance of movement anyway.
-
Mine did the same the plastic will have broken on the heaterbox. If you have undone the top one fully and the one behind the header tank the whole heatrbox should pull out
-
Get some foam type material aswell for the heater box flaps and joins mine where none existant when i did mine

They have shut for holidays mate ring back after bank holiday

Oil cooler mounting (upside down, on its side)
Jon_vr6 replied to Roger Chatfield's topic in Engine Bay
Yeah 108 is the norm for standard oil cooler in hot weather at 70mph. -
Well gave it another bleed 2 man method and still the same. So pressure bleeder above being acquired tomorrow afternoon and ill have another go. Two quick questions ABS on or off during pressure bleeding? (Had it on during first bleed and off during second, does it matter?) What PSI do you pump the bleeder to ? Cheers Jon
-
Cheers fellas, might have a go taking the old one off tomorrow. reason for changeing it aswell is that the clamp has cut the exhaust rubber hanger so the exhaust is hanging on by half a rubber hanger now doh!
-
Got a jetex exhaust on my vr6 but one of my u clamps on the exhaust is heavily corroded and wanted to buy a new u clamp but what size clamp do i need? If not ill send a message to jetex Jon
-
Prob give it another go bleeding 2 man then if that doesnt work get a pressure bleeder. Also do you bleed with ignition on or off ive always had it on but does it matter?
-
Question does the master cylinder reservoir cap need to be on when 2 man bleeding or does it not matter ?
-
Did the cap that came with it fit the brake fluid reservoir? Ive got a gunsons and last time i used it the seal around the reservoir was crap so just leaked air
