Sounds exactly like i had, went to turn the key one morning and nothing but a click from the starter motor, changed ignition switch and starter motor and still the same turned out to be corrosion on the red wire from the battery to starter motor took off and cleaned up and worked first time and has been fine ever since

What about the sender seals if its coming from that general area, also you wernt overzealous with the torquing up of the bolts on the stat housing were you and have cracked the plastic? -

The only reason to swap them over is if the radio stations dont stay in memory when you take the keys out the ignition. If thats not the case and it stores them fine and turns off as it should, it should be fine mate

Mine must have fell off at some point my brothers storm has it though just cover the aux belt so its not exposed to the elements
