  1. Hi mate, Yes you certainly did, has been up there for a while waiting to be looked at got a few running problems and some upgrades needed :) Take it you were up there to get yours back again? How's it going? Did you go for a stand alone ecu? Sounds like yours is going to be pretty mental! Did they get some good figures?
  2. Think I have seen this one b4 was a guy on here called rambo or something like that, ran into him at a petrol garage where he tried to convince me that cutting a hole in the bonnet was a good idea and way of keeping the underbonnet temps down :) also remember him having trouble with the engine too think some info is in the FI vr6 thread for any potential buyers
  3. I am after a fuel float level sender as the fuel gauge on my car has stopped working, if anyone has one knocking about? Not bothered if it has to come with the pump housing but preferably on it's own, it's for a VR so think it's the VDO model. Thanks Matt
  4. Sorry but I am living over in Teddington at the mo if you mean me mate :D not been over Walton way since yesterday evening maybe someone else. Offer is still there if u need to swap test your coil btw just drop me a note if u want to. Cheers Matty
  5. Hi mate yea was a shame I had to come off only just spotted the back of urs as i pulled alongside :) Was glad it was dark tho as my car is pure filth at the moment urs was looking v nice from what I could make out. Glad you liked the sound it isn't running right at 100% at the mo but will be sure to get it sorted! Matt
  6. Same here been an absolutely rock solid daily setup since last summer dispite getting regular daily abuse :norty: Going for the race logic this summer I think, sounds like good fun :)
  7. Sounds like should be a good day, stick my name down too, Cheers Matt
  8. Does sound like a suspect coilpack.for the misfire had a similar issue with mine since the cold which took out one of my plugs, if you want to try my coil pack I think I am pretty local to you and would save u buying one to find out!
  9. Good effort mate, defo go with a custom exhaust if u can and the RL should help keep the tyres too just noticed mine have worn down pretty quickly lately with the slippy conditions and way I drive :( be prepared for fun though, with great power...... comes great problems :)
  10. Thanks for this Kev will see where I can get a set from, not got round to buying any NGK's yet luckily :) Is the heat range anything I need worry about? 9 quid each they better run smoothly! :D
  11. Thanks guys, didn't choose the Bosch ones they were put in during turbo time, will get some of these NGKs in there asap and give em a go, Thanks a lot for the advice Matt
  12. Thanks that would be really good. seems like the NGK's are the way to go from doing a bit more reading, good to hear they hav been reliable on yours also. I don't think I am gonna tempt using Bosch ones again. Thanks again for the info
  13. Thanks for the quick response, did do a search through topic but was looking for some more recent information, having had pretty cheap Bosch ones in there and issues with those I am reluctant to go and get another set and find myself in the same position another 6 months down the line. Thanks again Matt
  14. What spark plugs is everyone using on their VR turbos? Had a Bosch one fail on mine the other day during the cold spell, im not 100% sure why but was not in there long, according to Vince these were from the 1.8t TT so should be alright for FI. Thinking of replacing the whole set wondered what the best options are and other peoples findings. Thanks Matt
  15. That would be me! On my way home from work, sorry I didn't spot ya, what colour / flavour c is urs? Matt
  16. Sorted! Thanks to everyone for the excellent advice and help it turns out it was a wire at the rear that was split causing the short took a closer look and spliced it back together now it doesnt pop the fuse. Thanks to volksworld13 and co for the excellent advice it is greatly appreciated
  17. Thanks for this will give this a go and inspect the wiring going from the front back down both sides never needed to take the sill trims or rear quarters off before take it they just pop off with a bit of educated violence? Cheers Matt
  18. Thanks mate just gave that a go and disconnected all rear bulbs including fogs etc and fuse 20 still blew when the brake pedal is pressed seems strange as all other bulbs including the rear lights which are the same bulb seem to work as normal will stop for the night now need to get some more fuses :D so I can carry on tomorrow Thanks again all for the help
  19. Just had a quick look under the cover and can't see any damage to the loom or wiring to the fogs/reverse lights will trace it round to the rear lights tomorrow sorry i forgot to mention i tested it with no bulbs in the brake lights and it still blew the fuse so unsure if this points to fault further forward? All help greatly appreciated Many thanks Matt
  20. Interesting will pull the cover off and take a look behind thanks very much for the info, hope I can trace this as feel really bad for people driving behind me since I noticed it. Cheers again
  21. Apologies if this is in the wrong place I did do a search to see where to start and saw a similar thread in the section. Noticed my brake lights werent working the other night so firstly I checked bulbs both filaments are ok and were replaced recently. Rear lights work but nothing from brakes, today I checked the fuses and found fuse 20 for brake lights is blown. Swapped it and tested the pedal as soon as the switch turns on the fuse pops. So suspecting this to be the pedal swith I replace this with a new part from vw today only to find the new switch made no difference, bit lost as to what to try next any one got any suggestions to try/check? All suggestions welcome :D Cheers Matt
  22. Trust me it is worth it in the end! Using mine as my daily and wouldn't have it any other way, my petrol gauge has packed up too so I am even happier
  23. Thanks mate, they do look very nice in silver :) but being crap phone pics you can't really tell but they are a good finish in a very nice grey which suits the abp nicely
  24. Sounds good, what disk and pad set up u running? I am using the Pagid fr disk and pad setup seems to work pretty nicely together for me
  25. Cheers bud :D another one of the reasons for the new wheels! To be fair to them the 288s haven't done too badly, good pad disk combo, braided lines and a working abs setup makes a little bit of a difference  but nevertheless a decent 4 pot setup will be on the never-ending list
