  1. \/\/\ yeah very very tight back there. I considered blanking it off but wasn't sure about it.
  2. I was discussing that little lot with the parts guy at VW as I am considering running a second 16v pump in my setup. That other canister is the accumulator rite?(Not the fuel filter) Label them up.I am sure there will be others who can either refer to it now or maybe will want to in the future. ta. :salute:
  3. maybe, yeah. that is what i had to do when the fitting for that connection broke on my break valve.
  4. yeah, vac hose for the clocks. as said above needs re-connecting really as it feeds into the breaking system.
  5. No need for that mate - I just couldn't remember ok! :)
  6. No,questions. Just watching. :)
  7. ah ok. On the infamous vw tech vid sketch about the charger says that the g-charger needs 0.3 bar to properly lubricate the charger. It was that figure that i remembered and quoted. maybe thats a min figure then.
  8. side of the cylinder head to the engine block.Silver braided line, can't miss it really. There is an oil pressure sender is located into the same part of the head. 0.3 bar. No regulator is used. Pressure is set by the length and diameter of said oil line.
  9. i'd be interested to know how people have gone about this too..
  10. i remember drilling when did mine. I can't remember why tho.I was following the instructions in the bentley. I do remember it being a nightmare tho.
  11. its what it is there for,to allow for fine adjuestment. The timing can't be too far out or else the car wouldn't start. OP is there a tamper proof plastic cover on the distributor bolt? If not then the distributor may have been moved in the past and so the intermediate data mark can't be trusted anyway and so to ensure factory timing settings the dizzy will have to be adjusted and a timing light used for verification with the blue temp sender removed.
  12. yep that crackling noise is det. Along with the suggestion above make sure your knock sensor is torqued up correctly to the block and that your dizzy isn't too far advanced. You need a timing light for this really but you can start by checking the distributor and intermediate pulley ignition alignment marks are where they would normally be from factory.
  13. good time, well done mate. 2.2 sec 60ft. You got off to a flyer. :)
  14. Not necessarily, but if it is wildly out because you paid no attention to its position at all it is probably best to. it it is just out a few degree's then he can just set the ignition timing like any other digifant car with timing light/blue temp sensor unplugged loosening dizzy and turning etc.. Thinking about it the fact that it runs makes me think that it is not too far out and he can get it in spec by moving the distributor with the aid of a timing light.
  15. How are you checking for a spark btw? Maybe change thye ecu relay or the ignition switch. Have you definately got 12 volts to the coil? Maybe 1st check with the help of a mate that you have a voltage to the coil black wire while cranking..
  16. any evidence that fel is getting into that cylinder,i.e after running the engine is the plug wet? Just swap a couple of injectors around. If the fault moves to another cylinder then it is the injector. If it stays where it is start looking at the ignition system.
  17. Once you have all the bolts out keep rocking it back and forward at the same time pulling on it. It will come out eventually.
  18. just buy a g60 bolt. The new ones are uprated.

  20. tbh there isn't that much holding the alternator in place.Few bolts and a couple of wires. The tricky bit is the tensioner without the right tool to compress/decompress it. I do it with brute force and lots of ignorance.
  21. when do you think ytou'll be going to santa pod next? Would love to see this doing the 1/4.
  22. i can't believe how neat you welds are. With a cosmo/sip. People say they are not that good and so i've been blaming my pooh welding on my machine, but you have blown that theory away. doh.
  23. Hi mate. A very frequently asked problem for VW's. Have a go onnthe search feature and then come back and ask if you are still confused or have something more specific to ask. :salute:
