When I changed mine the 1st time,I too spent alot of time on it. I found that everything coincided with the bentley as explained by Yan. The only confusing bit was the dizzy as people told me that the rotor should line up with the notch. Mine didn't.I also think mine was as it came from the factory. My tamper proof cover was still on the dizzy bolt and the timing marks on the crank pulley, camshaft pulley and flywheel all aligned perfectly. Also my cam tensioner was literally in bits along with the timing belt which makes me believe the car was as VW intended. :hitler: Now everytime I tamper with the setup I use a timing gun and my setup is non standard now anyway because of a vernier.

Should that have happened? Pwn'd a 320d :-D

He may well have to if he is going to spend all his timing racing anything that moves on the road. -

/\/\/\ looks very interesting especially if the price isn't prohibitive. Heat is the enemy. Do you think the 16valve layout fairs better in this respect because the air intake ports are not so close to the exhaust system?

Just put in a new thermo switch into the radiator. Fan ran on for eight minutes. Hopefully thats that.

New Scirocco pics (in the flesh ooo-err)

I think the problem for us is that it has been left so long. For example the golf has changed its shape but it has been a more gradual evolution and so people are less jolted by the car in its current fom. This on the other hand is a quantum leap in terms of how the rocco left off. Thus it doesn't sit right with alot of VW fans who are trying to look for signs of the cars lineage. That is why in truth its is a slightly elongated golf as that is all VW had to really work with. It simply has just been too long. Never fails to spark a debate though. :) -

I hear that. :salute: No point unless your enjoying it. I have never done a quarter mile though so I think It would be fun to legally thrash the pants off the thing and see what it can do. You should consider going to the gti festival at the pod. Could be fun. I'll probably be the one going home behing the AA man.

There was some confusion with JMC's cam in terms of the naming convention. I thought it was a 285  but apparently it is a 276 or something like that. However personally I would have gone for something milder as I have,i.e a schrick 268 or a newman 264 to play to the g60's strengths but I am still new to this game and J has been modding his car longer than I have so i am sure he knows his own mind. Anyway I think it is useful if as many people as possible with modified g's to put up their graphs and post their experiences for people to see and judge for themselves so they can make informed decisions. I am having fun with this stuff regardless so that all that counts. 8) -
get them to see how it fuels at your next MOT. :salute: nothing wrong with it in terms of making power though. :)

r u hapy that the intermediate pulley didn't move when you slackended and then re attached the belt ? Did u make a note of the position of the dizzy rotar? That would be my only concern doing it this way. ta.

why,what do you do?

You couldn't resist could you. :D Actually it is still quite puchy low down but its in the mid-range that it has picked up.So yeah i have shifted the power over a bit to the right but it is still as per my original brief. So there. Are you still retiring the g60T? -
its for an oil pressure sender I think. I think it was an optional extra to have voltage and oil pressure guages in the centre console. :offtopic: end of useless interlude.

Its the 268/276 g60 schrick cam. still fairly mild so as to not ruin the feel of the engine.(imo) I need to get some tangible results soon, like a power run or a quarter mile. For all I know I have made the car slower. :) Dosn't feel like it though. then you know to wear a jacket when reading my thread from now on. I'll look at the settings on the camera. Geez, like I havn't got enough to do. :) -
Hmm,not mucking about. New block already. Someone likes his corrado. So same setup with less boost until you decide what management to plumb for?
