  1. I had a similar prob on an audi 80 i just bought. when i took both the top section of the exhaust and the cat off it was the cat that was split and the top section of the exhaust was fine, contrary to what I had previously been advised. Are they sure its both sections ??? Not sure about the valver exhaust but isn't the join just held together with bolts and a gasket ring ? I'll have a look on etka.. uno momento.

    ABS issue

See what vagcom says. It the only way to isolate the fault sensibly. anything else would be just guessing if you can't see anything obvious with the sensors, cables etc. Its probably just a tired wheel speed sensor or it could be that you just need to clear the fault codes which sometimes works as well. good luck.
  3. nah,not as of yet. Its probably 185-190 i guess. I probably will do but not really interested at this point in time. What I am aimimg for is a nice wide torque band to suit various driving conditions, even if it is at the expense of peak hp/torque. :)
  4. Hi standard g60 stuff. g60 management with jabba chip,68mm pulley, fmic stg 4 charger,go faster dent on drivers side. Oil cooler on my desk at work to go on although I may as well wait now until the big strip down. Incidently It was interesting what you said b4 about having a sub 10 mile commute and thus not wanting to use forged pistons and an oil cooler on your car,I have about a 25 mile commute and I can never resist the temptation to pour on the boost thus my car gets a bit hot at the mo hence buying the oil cooler. :indiff:
  5. quick general questions.. So what about the head. The g60 head or a cnc variant could be re-used with a larger bore bottom end (i.e the 3a block) without any modification? ? Also if you can just re-use the g60 head is there a place that I can obtain technical details about vw engines i.e the combustion chamber volume for the pg head? Is that info in etka? Or is it best to measure it directly with say a CC'ing kit? cheers Robert.
  6. Thnks everyone again for input. ctwg60. You have already done more than enough to get me on my way and get me thinking in the right directing. Pointing me towards the "bubble block" was a big help. Its now got to the point where I need to get to grips with the rest of the design myself and make some decisions to go forward. I don't want to be in a position where I am blindly taking advice that I don't understand. I have bought a book on short engine design and will keep scouring the net and this site for tips. I will update this thread along the way. :)
  7. 2 be honest the thought of diesel clatter from My C is a bit abhorrent. is it really necessary to go forged on a modestly modified g60? Around 220~230bhp or so?
  8. Its a 3a. £167 for the whole car so not too sad. I rang around loads of breakers to find a 3a or a 6a but no one had one,and alot of them commented on how rare they are etc etc. :|
  9. Thnks Its mute now. I am the proud owner of a 1990 Audi 80  :) 2 litres of short stuff baby. 8)
  10. It will only be linear though over a certain rpm band though?! As I understand the smaller pulley just moves the power further down the rev range. However the point where the charger reaches its boost limitation will also move down the rev range,no ??!?
  11. ETKA lists the 2E engine as a short block?! Is ETKA the holy bible in terms of spares reference?
  12. kind of... so I has nothing to do with being multi valve. Its just emissions/efficiency control technology?!
  13. was just outbid on a audi 80 s 16v by a fiver  would have made a nice project base.
  14. Is twin port vauxhall speak for 16 valve? ta
  15. I know they're a bit expensive new but a dual pole VDO sender saves a whole bunch of hassle: How much is expensive? R they available from any Vw dealers? Do U know the part no's? thnks in advance. Robert
  16. i'd 4gotten about this one.Good to hear you are still making progress. Keep us posted. cheers.
  17. Fantastic info ctwg60 . By coincidence I downloaded the ETKA via bittorrent Havn't tried to open it yet so fingers x'd
  18. You love it really. It would be boring if you had a brand spanking new Porshe that never went wrong with bags of power to play with....... wouldn't it???? maybe.. I guess. Anyway back to reality. is the 6a bottom end identical to the 3a Its obviously just the 16v head that is different. ta. Rob
  19. Rob_b I always find that if you struggle doing something it makes the end result sweeter when all comes good?! But I can see where your coming from...
  20. I'm just curious, I'm well aware that in terms of the power/£ is probably not as high as another conversion. I've already stated makeing my plans now anyway. :) So you were/are not happy with the end result then? Not what you anticipated power or drive wise??
  21. He has broken the car and sold bits off.The engine is for sale. See the for sale sub forum.
  22. is it only the 6a and 3a engines that are 220 mm in height. what about the later audi 80 2 litre engines.i.e the ACE,ABK or the ADW ?? I know the ABK is 82.5/92.8 mm bore and stroke.
  23. do you mind me asking how much you doled out Rob(Roughly) Cheers Robert
