  1. ok,one more daft question in regards to the CO pot. In the manual it looks like you can isert a screw driver into it and turn it. On mine it has a blue plastic circle on top. Does the blue bit come off???? as per item 13.
  2. So thats what that is ?!!!!!! cheers.
  3. Hi where is the CO tap tube that the bentley makes reference to please? thnks
  4. then its a small victory me thinks!?!!
  5. Hence why I said that really, if you want a power car tehn i've taken the hassle and cost out of it! But if you want to do it yourself then get proper advice as already stated and steer clear of TSR[/quote:c715d] yeah i kinda want to do it myself as silly as that may sound. Good luck with selling yours. Someone will rip your arm off for it sooner or later.
  6. Very nice, looks good already. will look even better with the new suspension me thinks. :thumbleft:
  7. All done. Ordered a new carrier in the end. When it came they had again ordered the wrong part even though I gave them the vehicle number ?!! Anyway,I just took the guide pins out and re-used them with my old carrier.
  8. i'm prepared to go without the car for a while. I'm going to attempt to do it all myself and just go slooooooooooooow. i'll have to drive my 1.2 litre corsa in the mean time  Anyway at the moment its pie in the sky,but yes once the engine is in bits it makes sense to rebuild. I can always sell a kidney. I need to sit down and think about what I actually want from the end product.
  9. Hi dubsingh you havn't burst anything my friend. I know its not a leggo set i'm building :) Thnks for your input its appreciated. I just wan't a realistic assessment and,yes _leon_ thats good advice I plan to do as much as that as possible. grazie.
  10. nah, http://www.tsr-performance.com/pages/boreandbuild.asp cheers.
  11. A cnc head was going to be my next mod,but then I started to get other ideas. I was looking at the T4 blocks until I read some of the comments made about it on this forum. So then I thought about maybe building a 2 litre short engine as a project in the winter and to understand more about the engine design process etc. Silly power is not my ultimate goal, although of course I want a faster car at the end of it. I would also like to feel I have learnt something at the end of it too. I'm considering TSR's 1.8 -> 2 litre bore and build kit.!?!!!
  12. I appreciate that there is more to it than just boring the engine out. Bottom line is i don't have 3k at the moment. So I would only wasting your time to say "yeah i'll have it" If and when I had the cash now,you would have it tomorrow.
  13. Yeah,i've seen you thread.. I guess basically I was heading off in the direction that you had got to. "litre big valve head stump puller. I wanted an engine that retained its g60ness(if there is such a thing) but at the same time gave me more power. However while I save i'm trying to educate myself on what is involved. Those are impressive numbers i'm just not sure if its the best way to spend my potential 3k. I don't mean that in a negative way towards you. i just don't know enough yet to make an informed decision.
  14. Do u mean up rated parts pistons/oil pump/cam belt etc or extra work to the engine? thnks in advance. :study:
  15. As per subject. This does not include engine removal/re-fitting costs. Just the actual work on the engine itself. Or does it depend greatly upon other variables? scuse if the questions seems a tad naive :?
  16. All the cars I've bought I have fallen in love with at first sight and that is how I made my decision. I couldn't give the previous owner the money fast enough. I'm married to my G for better or for worse.(How sad is that last statement !!!) Thats said if this was my only car that I needed to be reliable 365 days a year 100 % of the time then I would have had to sell it. :( I have gf/child/gerbil/cat etc so they need to get to school/work/shops/vets etc :? The corrado dosn't fit the bill as a nice reliable family motor IMHO. That said unless i fall on very hard times I can't see me ever selling it. I love the way it looks and more importantly I love the way it drives. One thing to consider though is that If the current owner can't show you any docs that say the charger has been serviced in recent times then you will have to think seriously about getting the charger serviced once you buy the car. So obviously factor that into the "Is it worth the price" equation. :) I think my signature says it all! However.. I regret NOTHING!!!! 8)
  17. Supercharged was right about th guide pins, they are only sold as part of the carrier kit. The dealers ordered the wrong part. Annoying. Anyone know of any good breakers on Berkshire?
  18. these cars really like to suck money from you eh?!!! :(
  19. did you order the fuel guage sender too? The new pumps that they sell now are different to the original(brown) pumps that came with the G's good luck.
  20. hmm.........maybe, I assumed I bent it when I was trying to retract the piston with g-clamp/retraction tool/screw driver etc. This was because while i was doing that the piston didn't budge but the carrier somehow got pushed off the guide pins. :? but I like your idea better.
