1. Kev, a slightly clearer photo for you mate, I took about 20 to show another party and I think this shows it clearly. I don't know why it's rotated the pic but turn the screen 90 degrees clockwise and you'll see it. If I keep the flange aligned the right way, it should have enough room to move vertically without striking the side. That's a big should though. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
2. If people can run a standard mount I doubt you'd have any problem mate. All I can say is that since shaving the mount I am really happy with how it sits, plus I have space to get the OEM radiator fans in too (as far as I can see at this point, I bet that will come back and bite me in the arse). But it's fine either way really, I think there are advantages of running slimline fans anyway so it doesn't hurt.
3. Is that a hindrance or does it operate just as effectively? Is that a snipe kev? have you spent over £1000 and subsequently got one that does support a MAF? :awesome:
4. Swompy, Just going back a few pages, the power issue you were having...What engine and management are you running? MK4? MK5?
5. Baz, you have no MAF!? Does the standalone run alright without it?
6. Is that why they've blown up the soprano guy in the latest go compare ad? No saving themselves now not even if they make an ad of the guys death. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
7. I'm just getting irritated at how nonsensical a lot of adverts are, mainly completely irrelevant. It's a fact most advertisers now target ways off getting on your nerves over actually making an interesting sales pitch, the more irritated you are over an advert the more likely you are to remember it! I just hate this whole approach, I stick to word of mouth only really when I'm actually after something.
8. No it's perfectly acceptable mate, I suppose I'm more forgiving even if I'm being taken for a ride. Right now I'm blinded by the fact I could very well have a working R32 corrado very soon. I guess that's what makes it an easier sale. Just to add what I've learned on the phone with him, he seems very reasonable and honest. He said the engine was likely to hit the underside of the bonnet without cutting the mount, it would also be tipped too far forward and not sit properly. Apparently MK2 golf conversions have to chop the mount too, and the end result is how it is meant to sit. It took me an hour to chop and it's a mount I wouldn't be too bothered with chopping, so I'm not at a loss there. Being a business I hope I've got some sort of assurance/warranty for my money though.
9. ok on second thoughts kev it is tight! im back home now and have been playing with the decat pipe fitting, with the flange in place i can get my hand around most of it, and my little finger between one part by the flange fitting! That's on the side and with the stiff front mount I have, I really don't expect it will strike anything, we will see though.
10. Yeah the thing is with the flange bracket it actually sits a little bit back from the main joint where the tunnel starts to taper out so that actually allows for a bit of clearance there, 3cm might be a bit much but im certainly fine with the distance, it is very unlikely to move any closer to the tunnel sides after all.
11. Here you go Kev, pics of the clearance underneath. The pictures might not show it clearly but the closest part is the side and that's a good 3+ cm from the tunnel. Vertically it has plenty of room for movement.
12. While I'm on the subject, Kev did you ever look at those water temp sensors and think they're quite loose to be sealing with that pressure of coolant? They all still have the rubber o rings but they just seem to twist a tad too easy! Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
13. Righto, I'd best check what Mark has done with the loom. I have both the R32 aux pump and a quite new VR6 one so not really bothered about using either! It will be in the VR6 position though to save me having to fudge the pipe work.
14. Yeah I went with the DP decat too just so I got a flexi included. The decat is huge though! 57mm (iirc) internal diameter whereas the old standard magnex kit i have is 55mm internal. It definitely won't fit inside like the original did. Pete (DubPower) says that R32 engines were always much bigger bore exhausts than the standard VR6 kit, so either I live with a bottleneck or I get some 2.5-3" system made up! Definitely not going to be shelling out for a new exhaust anytime soon. The decat conveniently fits properly over old VR6 exhausts so it's just a case of doing something with the old exhaust's slits (ie cutting them off) and making new slits in the decat to fit the jubilee clips. I'm a bit apprehensive of permanently damaging my magnex though! Wondering if I can just leave the tabs on the magnex and hope it doesn't get in the way too much, Pete reckons there is plenty of decat length to fit over the exhaust fully.
15. Cheers kev  I overlooked that then! I assumed it was just the two basic one....I need to keep the new style R32 one don't I? Isn't that how the ecu obtains engine temp info for things like open/closed loop as it warms up? Which sensor do I not need? Thankfully SWICT is doing the wiring haha! No CAN bus yet, Mark did say its hit and miss even with ecu age, some do and some don't have the right output. He said I'd have to plug it in and see, only then would I know if I require a CAN converter.
16. Thanks bud! Trouble is I wimped out and sent it to swict to be done! Plug and play then so I thought I'd put up with the cost. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
17. Kev I think we should get hold of the poly inserts for the rear mounts already shaved by 15mm for the conversion! Get a few people after those I bet. I'll sort you some photos when I get back of the manifold and engine so you can see the difference. I'll shove them on the 24v thread. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
18. Do you think the supplier would agree to make just the rear lower and upper insert? If they're just chopping the poly themselves I could specify the dimensions and just request the required size to be already shaved by 15mm!
19. Oh dear, the VT mount looks difficult to modify too! I'm thinking that if there is an issue with the mount too soft I can remove the rubber completely and fit some poly inside the original mount! Having taken it apart I think its doable.
20. Yeah exactly, I've shaved the original mount because it was a bit rusty and old so I'm not all that bothered about cutting it! Was pretty easy just need to chop the rubber by 15mm (hacksaw and dremel) then hacksaw 15mm off the central shaft, drill a bit more for the bolt and re tap it. Took me about an hour in all. Now obviously I've not witnessed how it sits with a full sized mount, but mine seems to sit perfectly! It's flush with the sides, plenty of clearance all around and everything seems to fit. I'm quite chuffed with the rad fans that should save me shelling out on a fan when the old one worked fine.
21. Yeah that's the dubpower one mate, I believe they supply Storm for when they do the conversions on site. Not 100% certain though but it definitely looks like Dubpower!
22. Much excitement! The engine is in and very snug, now its onto plugging it all in. Got the dubpower manifold to go with it too.
23. She's in! manifold fits fine too, I did end up shaving the mount kev, but Pete talked me round to it. Doing so has given me more clearance at the front too? Looks like I can reuse my old rad fans too.
24. Kev, I have the DP one on the way to me, so will likely mod it to fit. Still waiting on word from Pete at DP that it actually hasn't been modified at all in recent years to prevent this.
25. Cost mate! Someone local quoted me 100 a pipe iirc, 6 to 2 to 1! Painful costs Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
