keep in mind that the tiny springs that are in the switch are VERY IMPORTANT. I didn't put them in a switch I once dismantled, and it didn't work LoL. just a thought. good diy. I wouldn't have broken a light switch if I had had it for reference in the past..

kr running "like" on 3 cyls after spark plugs change.. FIXED
krnau replied to krnau's topic in Engine Bay
hey, I've just come back from the garage and I found that I had cyl 1 and 2 leads swapped over LoL btw, on kr distributor it's 1-3-4-2 fixed!!!! -
Hello, I also posted it on clubgti as I'm going mad ATM... Today has been (maybe) one of the worst days of my life. However, there's something that "is" always there: one's car... well not really, please read as it follows.. My corrado (KR) had been experiencing a loss of power, so I was suggested to replace some bits. Right, I did it today. First of all, I replaced distributor cap and rotor arm. Went for a drive and the car was running same as before: not as powerful as it should, but at least it was running good. So I went back to my garage to replace: -Injector seals (o-rings), both the thick and the thin ones per injector. -Spark plugs. While I was doing this, I left the injectors out of the manifold in order not to flood the engine (I also had warm-starting problems and everything pointed to a leaky injector). I left them out for about 30 minutes while I was doing the job, taking care that none of them got in contact with dirt/oil/etc. I then put the injectors back into the manifold, and reconnected the spark plugs leads as well. I started the car and it keeps on idle, at about 400rpm like when the hot starting problems occurred. I waited for about 20 seconds and, as I realised, it wouldn't cure :( While this was happening, I could hear the PA! PA !! PA!!!PAPAPAP!!! of unburnt fuel exploding in the exhaust :( Then I pulled back out the 'new' spark plugs and dropped the 'old' ones in. The problem was still there. (Oh ****!!!). Then I pulled out all spark plug leads (one by one), and replaced them (one by one) with a well-known working set. The problem was still there (Oh **** x 2!!!). I swapped the dizzy cap with the 'old' one, and (yes!) Oh ****!! the problem was still there... I left the car on (crappy) idle (and kinda misfiring), and pulled the spark plug leads out of the dizzy cap, one by one, and I could see the spark jumping from the dizzy cap to each lead. Right, at least we know there's spark on all cylinders. Pulling out both of the top ones (one by one, not both at the same time) made almost no noticeable difference. However, pulling the bottom ones (one by one, as well) made the idle go lower and I could hear more fuel exploding in the exhaust. If I had (by coincidence) split an air hose or something, I think that the car would also have a bad idle.. but it wouldn't make the cylinder(s) not to be able to burn the fuel (as it seems to be happening). So then I'm not sure if I've plugged the plugs leads into the dizzy cap in the correct order. Would the car fire up with two (or more) swapped leads? I'll be doing another delivery test tomorrow just to make sure that I've not fooked an injector .... PLEASE help... I only own this car and I need to use it daily Thanks for reading!

the 90º option will make you remember us if you ever have to plug/unplug that with a hot engine
-
my kr has the round cap type senders. All you have to do is what boostmonkey says.
-
I'll try to do it tomorrow but I'll have to replace the distry cap and rotor arm and spark plugs... so I don't know it I'll have any time left :( bugger I've been waiting so long to do these dials, and now that I've received the electroluminiscent panel, more problems occur in the car
-
Will let you know ;) I'll do it tomorrow after a job interview (!!!!) Hope it went well, i have one tomorrow too!!!![/quote:3vreamdw] I had one yesterday. it went like a crap but I was not interested in the job anyway. I just went there as I've been 4 years without any job interviews (as I've been working in the same place) and I thought it would be good to learn how-to do successful interviews LOL so I went there just to practice the one I had today was about a good job IMO and if they call me back, as I'll earn more money than I do now, there may be a rebuilt abf dropped into my tired KR :D I've not been able to do any dials working though :(

you will post pics of that job won't you!? :notworthy:
-
and it would even fire up by pushing the accelerator

started working on some blue backlighted gauges and red glowing needles (backlighted as well). -the blue light you can see in the pics looks gayer than it is. It's really darker. -the gauges look a lot better than in the pics. I hope I'll have it 100% done and working by tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, so... pics to follow :D -the needles are not pink!!! They lit up in a stronger red color... whoa, then if it won't run OK with a single point system.. I think I'll keep away from doing the conversion. And it's sad as I do about 30.000miles a year and that would be a nice way to save money :(
-
Hi, I've been reading and investigating and LPG is THE way to save money... as one can turn between petrol/LPG at any moment... but I find it difficult to find any k-jet conversion. Is that possible? Or due to the nature of the k-jet system, that's not doable? thanks for reading!

same thing happened to me.

I think that the guy of the first reply is totally wrong. how can a girl (who seems to have never seen a can of oil) rebuild an engine? Or, well, help her boyfriend in a rebuild?? And then, after a long journey working on the car... prepare lunch for him, and give him a shower......... without giving him a good massage after all of this??? IMHO a massage is really needed, apart from other things that we may not say here :norty:. that's what he is wrong. or maybe he forgot to mention it?

same cracy oil temp readings here, except for coolant temps which are OK in my car. did you fix it? how?
-
if the speedo is analog, then you have to take it out of the dash and you'll find the sensor just where the speedo cable plugs into it. its held in place by 2-3-4 (can't remember) small screws. there's no need to dismantle the speedo ;) I can't find any pic of that VSS, but if you can't locate it... upload a picture of the back side of the speedo and I'll show you where it should be :)
-
time for new injector seals me thinks
-
think the only thing that works on the MFA is the oil temp.... everything else reads duff. (no display) except maybe the clock that may be the cause then.
-
first of all, sorry that this has happened to you... but I have to say that when I read what is in black... I thought you'd done something different with the brick
-
it's there, on the exhaust manifold, just behind an earthing point. the wire's color is green IIRC.
-
hey, I read somewhere that some "black light" cold cathodes don't have any UV filter, and so it will damage your eyes!!
