I'm hoping to get a delivery of some wheels soon and will have a set of 16" BBS RX2 Anniversary wheels available. They are 7x16 ,PCD 5x100 refurbished with polished rims carbon fibre BBS centre caps and 215/40R16 Toyo Proxes. Look sweet on a C.

Yeh, I believe its the 90mm spoiler, i'm sure it will seem deeper still once the FK Konigsport coilovers are fitted. :afro:
-
Not the best pic (car's filthy and the grille has seen better days) but you get the idea.
-
Just finished fitting the light surrounds, using original grille until the weather improves but looks so much better. :D
I will post a pic when I get chance in the mean time have a look at the 'black hole effect' with the standard black trims and a black grille. Even this grille will be transformed with the silver light surrounds reducing the surface area of the black making it look more 'focused'
Not that i've given it any thought you understand

The grille was was prepared with plastic primer etc, and grille is a very smooth finish like the body work ie detextured. The spray work was done by a Lotus specialist, they're used to plastic after all.[/i]

My VR came from the dealer with a body coloured grille and a chrome VW badge. I've never been entirely happy with this look, why?
1. The chrome badge looks out of place
2 The black headlamp trims don't blend in with it.
3 If you fit a black grille it looks like a big black hole in the fromt end with the standard light trims.
Solution?
Colour coded light trims to be used with either colour coded or black grilles takes a couple of seconds to swap and both are more successful IMO. :D

Thanks to all the people who gave the good advice. :D
I now have the handles and mechs fitted but couldn't resist chroming the mechs first. 8)
I'll keep the second hand handles as spares, i've bought some new ones which are being colour coded at this time.
The wiring is a bit scary at first I guess there is a plug in further along inside the door, but seeing as i'm happy to stay delocked whatever the snips and insulating tape sufficed.

I've bought some new Passat rears for mine which i'm going to colour code Satin Silver, i've seen it done previously and it really clean up the look of what are quite bulky/ugly O.E. handles. Heres an example with the locked variety there are more pics on the Edition 38 website

I couldn't resist heres my 94 VR6 with the 17" Azev A fitted (flat centre cap, 8x17 ET 30) There were no issues with either calliper or suspension component clearance and there are no spacers on. As you can see I am currently on stock suspension so can't tell you if arch clearance is a problem for particularly low cars. I think they look pretty good a clean take on the OE speedlines.
-
This is how they look on the Golf 8) Convieniently its the same colour for easy comparison :D
-
As I mentioned previously a friend has a set ot 8x17 ET 30 fitted to a MK3 Golf VR6 with the 288mm discs. These are fitted without spacers or other mods. I'm not sure if there are any significant differences between the brakes on a C and the Golf. I'm going to have a go at fitting them to my 94 VR6 and see how I get on.

Quote : thought the offset was measured from the centre of the wheel to the mating face of the wheel, therefore the style of spoke is irrelevant.
Thats true to a point but if the face or spokes curve back in towards the centre then it can create clearance issues for the brake calipers. It may be that on the 8" rims due to the extra width the spokes are straighter and actually clear the calliper?
-
A friend has the 8x17 ET 30 Azev A on his MK3 Golf VR6. I think they fitted OK without calliper problems, i'll double check.

Those new A6 hanles are so much better than this interpretation of an A4 install.

LOVE:
The stumpy bulbous styling that separates it from pretty boy pointy coupes.
HATE:
Tasteless modifcations and add ons. Very easy to spoil the looks and balance. Must have been pretty much right from the factory.
-
I have these fitted for everyday use. They are the 16" BBS RX2 16x7 from the Anniversary Golf. Rebuilt, powdercoated centres, polished rims and carbon badges.
-
I'm hoping to get the black trim around the headlamp colour coded. I believe it will make the front end look much cleaner in a light coloured car, Satin Silver. From other posts i've read I understand that this is only a trim piece and not a fixed part of the headlamp. Is this correct, and if so is it straightforward to remove/refit?
Are these trim pieces still available new,any idea of price or part no.s would be appreciated. Thanks

The info on the car claimed about 565 ps ( similar to BHP ask someone more tech minded) i recall and 200 mph
-
Good innit..
-
or just paint the centres?
-
Thats not exactly true yours is one serious project that will make the rest of us look like milk floats.

I believe the performance side of things for this car are now finished. I won't spoil the owners glory by giving any clues about which car it is but it should soon become apparent when it gets used in anger.
470 BHP
480 lbs/ft Torque

A friend of mine owned this car in 2000/1 and was reminiscing about it. Does anyone know the car? Its Blackberry Met. with cross drilled discs and twin 3.5 inch round exhaust, and FK Koni coilovers. The car was North West based.
-
Its not my car so perhaps not my place to comment but a friend of mine saw it on the rollers there during last week, power was apparently in excess of 400 bhp and it sounded phenomenal. I have been watching its progress with great interest. I'm sure the owner will be a very happy man. :D
