  1. The  wheels were off a Golf MK3 Anni. Fitted with Toyo Proxes. They were firstly on a friends Corrado VR6 and then mine they fitted without any problems and drove well too. I'm recalling the Et as 43 but i'm getting old so stand to be corrected

  2. True there is no "right" way to style a corrado, but a lot of people get it very wrong, it's a diffcult car to modify to look good, unlike a Mk2 golf which is a pretty good looking base car to start with.

In fact its because the Corrado is such a good looking and successful car to start with that attempts at modifying can easily result in a car which doesn't work as well as the 'Original' product. I'm all for each to their own but the reason there are so many apparent purist leave it alone type opinions expressed is that it works well in standard guise.

A little personalisation never hurt anyone though

  3. I'm going for a hassle free (fingers crossed) 8x17 ET35 incuding adaptors. I managed with a bit of luck and research to find them offered at the superb price of 204 euros each, but they would only supply to Germany. I have had to arrange delivery via a friends business acquaintance before forward on to Blighty.

  4. Does anyone remember a VW ad from tears ago about a guy who bought into everything just as the market/taste changed and ended with the line this is a man who bought a Volkswagen. Well thats how I remember it. I feel the same now but can't help but laugh. After selling my RS splits I was content with one set but couldn't face cleaning them on a daily driver so decided to go for something to give the car an alternative look to interchange with the splits but be a little easier to clean.

Now my choice was far from unique or brave but effective and not too common. With a long winded order process and waiting time I knew I had to be patient awaiting their arrival. In the meantime it seems others have revealed their new rims which as you've guessed are just the same

  5. Its a good question, but without an especially good answer. In truth I am still undecided, I have 2 sets of the same rims, same tyres etc, these were for show use only but sadly I found they didn't work to my taste on a Silver car with the gold bolts.(would look superb on a dark metallic car) I am prepared to sell them but wanted to canvass opinions should I decide i'd rather keep them. I didn't want to create the impression on here that I was in anyway dissatisfied with my choice of rim. I still believe they are the perfect choice for a semi-stock car :)

  6. Well I must confess that was my initial thoughts, just adds a nice touch of detail. IMO the wheels themselves look stunning but don't work as well as i'd hoped on my car with the gold detailing, which is a shame really. They'd look gorgeous on a dark metallic car! Well at least I gave it a try

  7. OK, I built up a set of BBS RS301 split rims for use on my C during the show season. They feature polished rims and centre caps together with gold bolts and badges. In my opinion the wheels look stunning but theres one slight problem, I don't think they suit the colour of my car.

I know many of you don't like this style of wheel anyway and will no doubt suggest their destruction. If anyone else has a more constructive opinion lets hear it.

    My thoughts were

1 Replace gold bolts and replace with chrome.

2 Paint centres black, use chrome bolts.

    3 Sell wheels

The wheels are complete with unused Dunlop SP9000 tyres so as you can imagine they stand me at quite a bit but after all the trouble of finding them and building them I don't know what to do :(

I have a standard set of the exact same wheels which i'm more than happy with. 8)

Aplogies at my poor attempt at colouring the rims black

  8. I understand that the 4wd 480bhp VR6 turbo Corrado, built @ Dubsport is likely to be for sale soon. Having seen the RR powergraph it destroys their 1.8T all across the range with 470 lb/ft torque, and their 1.8T has run a 3.15 second 0-60. In all honesty who would want a Corrado that powerful and quick
