I got the wheels of German Ebay at a bargain price of about £700 delivered including the wrong sized tyres, so it cost me £400 more to have the Dunlops fitted. I remeber thinking it would be a bargain if they were delivered but a lot to lose if they weren't
The wheel alignment was carried at at Dubsport at Wrightington Junct 27 M6. Tel 01257 473383

The wheels are BBS RS 301 split rims 7.5 x17 ET33.
Jury is still out on side mouldings, certainly tempted by idea as I think it would look superb, half of me is tempted by keeping certain elements stock looking. Decisions ,decisions

STORMSEEKER I'm South Ribble.
Thanks for the comments people.

It has been lowered, and looks and feels really good. Up to now there seems to be no fouling on the arch, I expect it may settle a little over the coming days but it looks promising. Heres a quick pic, poor quality low resolution i'm afraid.

I'm glad to report its all sorted without any apparent problems. My concerns about the wheels clearing the struts/springs were un founded they fit perfectly with room to spare.

Well i'm hoping that the bad weather(and gritting) is over. I can't wait any longer i've finally run out of patience.
Tomorrow is the day! FK Koni Coilovers and new VAG top mounts, VAG discs all round (zinc plated for increased corrosion protection on non swept surfaces) rear wheel bearings, Pagid pads. New brake dust guards (powder coated) and full wheel alignment.
I've fitted the wheels ready and steam cleaned the arches together with painting the callipers (aluminium) 8)
Desparately hoping there are no wheel clearance issues with either the body of the coilover (inner) or arches (outer).
So how low do you go?
Fingers and everything else crossed that I can get away without arch mods. The wheels are 17"x7.5" ET 33 wearing Dunlop SP9000 205/40 R17 tyres.
Wish me luck!

After fitting new suspension you should always have full wheel alignment carried out for tracking and camber, should be fine once its done. Looks much better 8)

Again by going 215 it effects aspect ratio. The standard 15" fitment is 205/50 so when going up a wheel size you drop the aspect ratio. Hence 40s on a 17 rim but even this size gives a greater overall diametre and rolling radius. Going to a 215/40 increases the tyre wall 4mm and further increases rolling radius and will affect gearing and speedo readings. It should however fit if the car is not too low. I have had 215/40R16 on the C without problem so the tyre width in itself is OK if the offset and ride height are fine.

I'm not doubting the product but the article clearly wasn't very informative. Without better information any fool can say 'I can make it betterer, me'

Poor feature I thought didn't give any insight into SNS tuning other than the implication of lag free performance. No figures , prices, comparisons or driving impressions.
-
Thankyou, I think the car is really coming together can't wait for the better weather and the show season. :D
-
Of course if you're not convinced I have a set of 225/45 R17 tyres for sale!
-
You cant go higher profile on a 17 the gearing and speedo will be out and they will be a poor fit in the arches

Leather was a factory option on the VR6, mine are heated but I'm not sure if thats a standard feature of the leather seats or a further option. I tend to think they came together as one option.

that lower pic shows its plenty low enough

S4 Avant, gets round the saloon issue. Great tool stylish and practical.

I just removed my OE mudflaps this weekend been on since new apparently was hoping to reuse them in winter but sadly too corroded and bolts sheared.
One quick question, there is a screw visible on the inner rear edge of the front arches where the mudflaps were located, is this part of the original spec of the car or was it to secure the flaps, the post above got me thinking. Does anyone know? Can someone check their non mudflapped car? BTW its a 94 VR6 if it helps.

Sorry to tread on you toes , just believed an informed debate on the merits of the products might be worthwhile. You are clearly impressed with your results and for a dark coloured car perhaps Zymol is the obvious choice?
-
John, Can you give some insight into the merit of each of the kits, which would be best for a Silver metallic
Thanks,
Gareth

Looking very good. I'm thinking about treating myself to the Zymol or Swissol. I need one suitable for silver I hope the results are as good as yours. 8)

Can anyone recommend a good quality boss kit. Any experiences of the removable anti theft type?
-
Just gotta love 'em but at a price of £350 without boss its no wonder you don't too many.
Oh the joys of buying second hand :D

It should be just stuck on. Apply heat with perhaps a hair dryer and then slip a thin string or fishing line etc behind kkeeping the tension on the badge side, it will gradually just pull away . Clean up the sticky adhesive redidue with tar and glue remover and perhaps a little more heat.
Rear Axles Bushes Question ?
in Exterior
Posted
OK, having read some of the threads about handling and suspension there seems to be consensus of opinion that the rear axle bushes need to be spot on. I'm quite happy that mine could do with replacing. The question is standard VAG or polyurethane?
I'm aware pretty much of whay the standard VAG product has to offer, but the polyurethane bushes will no doubt last longer although in reality this in itself won't be much of an issue.
Are there any other benefits or perhaps downsides to going with the polyurethane bushes. :?:
