  1. it sounds like alternator to me mate.,,,,i would check all wiring to/from it also.......sound like the battery is not getting charged and slowly dying.....hence it cutting out.....thats my theory with testing it myself, also check stereo equipment and the CL system......

  2. Thanks for the input guys.

Should have realised there wouldn't be an easy, 2 minute fix - Karmann built C after all! Both my Mk2 8 valve and Mk1 Clipper have dashboards that line up perfectly with no effort but can't get the C's to sit right.

BTW needles are standard post 92 VR6 afaik.

where abouts are u from mate?

  3. seems to me your clocks are missing the rubber holding grommets. On each side of the clocks, there is a holding circular pivot (where the clocks sit in the two inner dash supports)....seems like they are missing hence it siting lower.......easy fix is using installation tape and taping around the pivots or try getting the rubbers....lol

  4. I was gutted when i sold my mint 16V (K plate - facelift) 4 yrs ago as i had her resprayed, wheels polished, two tone leather, lots of pennies spent and i only got £2300 for her 4 yrs ago. Its a bummer when you think how many hours and pounds go into them but its a buyers market. Store it and/or enjoy it - its a minter. Very well done - beautiful. Get some leather in her and it willbe awesome. I had a two tone silver and black leather interior in mine - would suit yours to a tee. See the link..... Unfortunately can't find any good quality pics at the moment.

cheers dude, yeh i wont get whats it worth, i had a chance to get sum leather but i choice cloth as it was my daily driver......plus i hate leather in the summer (too hot) then in winter (too cold).

  5. Right. That's awesome - the radio DOES work with the ignition off, so this definitely sounds like a potential culprit!!! I'll try disconnecting it in the first instance and see if that gives the battery extra life. Thanks very much!

    still having problems mate?......

  6. Grand? Twelve hundred? Maybe a touch more?

    :nono: :censored:

sorry buddy, just saying what I'd pay for it. but i am a tight goit. :D i don't think it helps having how much you paid for it in the first post! probably thinking about it now 1500 would be reasonable, 1750 on a good day.

you should enjoy the car now its been rebuilt, what's the point otherwise? apart from cash [/quote:3r6y0zkc]

sori mate wasnt having a pop at u or any1 for that matter :notworthy:

  7. Id say 2k easily tbh. I would've payed that considering the work back when i was looking for a valver 6 months ago. Someone just looking for a rado will probably prefer a vr or g60 so will most likely offer alot less. Wait till someone who wants a valver comes along. :)

    cheers mate 8)

  8. it owes me more then £2000.....if someone offered me £1000 - £1500....id slap them and send them on there way.... :p .lol im not after more ponies......i got a 20vt (skoda vrs) engine in the back ground if i wanted to swap it.....just seeing what people would pay for it.....but at the rate people are saying......im gona paint the engine bay and stick it in storage for a few years...im sure then price will go up then, guess i mite sell the mk1 then.... :norty:

  9. Hey dude, nice rado you got there with alot of work put in it but tbh i dont know how much of your money you'll make back baring in mind the fact that nice vr's are going for **** all these days. How much have u put into it if u dont mind my asking?

yeh i was looking around and VR's / G60 aint that much these days......but there might be some1 who wants a 16v rebuilt.....or buy it, sell the engine and prefect base for engine conversion.......i put a few fair pounds in it......rather not say...

  10. ill wait till the fan switch arrives and then ask more

if it dont solve the prob is it ok if i ask more

anything i learn i will pas on,its jus im new to these cars

i always have wanted 1 an spent bout 6 months gettin it sorted

new white paint etc, then this happens

    cheers

ask as many as you want......i sorted my power drain out....two things, lead from battery to starter motor was broken/corroded, and dodge alternator....

  11. i ordered a new fan switch (yellow )today from vw it will be here early next week only 24 euro inc mounting bracket

i was kinda afraid of ordering parts for an old(ish) car thinking it costs massive money but since i got on tis forum

im so happy, hopefully soon my corrado will be where it belongs..on the road

sorry for all the questions but i read that the seat belt mech is powered an also can drain the battery if its not

    fully retracted,is this true?

again thanks every1 ill share the knowledge

    hope this sorts my prob

i dnt think so......i got no power going to my rear seats :confused4:

  12. if it dont mabey i could put in a timed relay to break the fan positive after a set time controled by the ignition

    nice 1 for the help

I'd try to put it all back as it should be, the live feed for that switch should come out of the loom on the left hand side of the engine bay around the top of the suspension turret. You may have another fault elsewhere if the fan is cutting in with the ignition off, which really should be properly traced and sorted.

I'm sure there's a few of us on here with 1.8's that can help to sort it.

i agree with the above if it fails.....i think most of us on here at sum point had to check some sort of wiring issue on corrado's.... :censored:
