Late heater controls - repair tips - Update 16/11
akacheesy replied to Kevin Bacon's topic in Interior
Kev, your pic vent flap.JPG is the bit I am having problems with. It won't move at all, I guess its jumped cogs or something at some point. Any tips on how I get it moving again? -
lol, thats OK dude! Not too sure how they test it, some kind of electrical test I guess. I know its not working cos i tried braking heavily and skidded  The ABS light does the self test thing then once travelling at approx +5mph the light comes back on and stays on. This is to indicate that there is a fault somewhere. It is relatively easy to test the sensors if you have the correct tools apparently. Do you have any idea what I need? i.e. the correct name for it so I can ring round the scrappy's? ta Chris

aye, ABS maybe for girls, but if you've got it, its gotta work for the MOT. Any idea what the proper name is Gav?
-
Brakes are fine m8, just the ABS that aint workin. So does that mean I can maybe use parts of the MK 3 golf for spares? Don't fancy paying main stealer prices.
-
Had my ABS checked by 2 garages now & they both report a fault with my ABS pump. Does anyone know if they're Corrado specific? Do I have to buy a new one from the main stealer? Thank you in anticipation P.S. Merry Christmas
-
thanks anyway m8, I appreciate it

hmm looks like too much of a job for me m8, looks like you've got a nice cosy garage to do stuff like that?? I am not that fortunate, don't fancy doing in in the street :(
-
tried that already Gav, they say that my car is not applicable to the recall
-
turns out it was the matrix after all
-
Found my leak too, the heater matrix :( just before Xmas too
-
It is the matrix!! I have had it confirmed by my local VW specialist £350 fitted :( Happy Xmas PS Oh, and a wheel bearing has gone
-
well I suppose its possible but I can't find any signs of leakage from anywhere else in the engine. It is all pointing towards the matrix isn't it? well I suppose its all part of the joy of ownership :D thanks for your help anyhoo dude, I'll post the verdict on Monday after I've had this geezer look at it
-
everytime I fill the expansion tank it eventually drains away. May take a day or so sometimes less. I can't figure it out
-
Hard to say from one day to the next dude, the other night was toture had the blowers on full & had the chamois out but still couldn't keep the windows clear. The passenger side carpets were soaking, although I had put it through the carwash the day before I noticed.
-
Aye, looks like it! Found a garage in Leics who specialise in VW he's gonna take a look Monday. Looks like I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and get it done £350-£400 Plus the heater controls as mine are FUBAR F##K!!!
-
So I am still getting wet carpets, can't work out whether or not its the matrix. My steamy windows seem to come and go intermitantly. The water in the passenger side footwells seems to be more than just water, a slight greasy feel. Is there anywhere anyone knows in the Midlands or there abouts I can take it to get a definative answer? Help please!!!

New loom fitted, may I just say how easy it was too!! :D Thanks for your help Gav! Bright Lights! Nice
-
aye, already done that m8, I have one of Gavin's looms Just wanted to know how much of a job it is. Thinking of tackling it tonight. What happens to the old loom? Do you simply leave it there or do you remove it?
-
16vgt, how long did it take you to fit it? Is it easy enough?
-
sorted it last night, although couldn't get at the drain plug. Its a bit difficult without ramps.
-
bought some flush, decided against using it. All sorted now cheers guys
