thats nuts Rog. is that business cover included or a single place of work commute? i have the latter on both my main VR policy & the classic limited miles valver policy & they are both leagues away from the lynbrook price

Corrado prices - take note of them in europe
g0ldf1ng3r replied to g0ldf1ng3r's topic in General Car Chat
indeed they do i think it was the sheer number at high values & not all of those ones being low mileage either bodes well methinks -
i saw this site by chance & had a quick search it certainly bodes well for values & i think it shows we undervalue ours in the UK http://suchen.mobile.de/auto/volkswagen-corrado.html?useCase=ChangeSortOrder&__lp=9&scopeId=C&makeModelVariant1.makeId=25200&makeModelVariant1.modelId=12&makeModelVariant1.searchInFreetext=false&makeModelVariant2.searchInFreetext=false&makeModelVariant3.searchInFreetext=false&damageUnrepaired=ALSO_DAMAGE_UNREPAIRED&export=ALSO_EXPORT&sortPath=searchNetGrossPrice&sortOption.sortOrder=DESCENDING&defaultOrder=DESCENDING&lang=en

hi simon check out the price of some of the rado's available in europe, it may give you some motivation to fix & keep!!! http://suchen.mobile.de/auto/volkswagen-corrado.html?useCase=ChangeSortOrder&__lp=9&scopeId=C&makeModelVariant1.makeId=25200&makeModelVariant1.modelId=12&makeModelVariant1.searchInFreetext=false&makeModelVariant2.searchInFreetext=false&makeModelVariant3.searchInFreetext=false&damageUnrepaired=ALSO_DAMAGE_UNREPAIRED&export=ALSO_EXPORT&sortPath=searchNetGrossPrice&sortOption.sortOrder=DESCENDING&defaultOrder=DESCENDING&lang=en i know we undervalue them in the UK but whoa those are some pricey, but very nice, motors

errr this may well be way too far away & also outside of your healthy budget but GOD DAMN thats some price!! http://suchen.mobile.de/auto-inserat/vw-corrado-1-8-g60-1-hd-nur-56000km-rupboden/204679294.html?utm_source=Criteo&utm_medium=display&utm_campaign=gebrauchtwagen_midfunnel

ha ha brilliant! that reminds me of a classic richard pryor stand up sketch where he is on about his 2 doberman's & a burglar breaking into his house......he goes on that the dogs let the burglar in & even show them where the good stuff is but as soon as the burglar's hand is on the exit door handle the dogs turn into the devil & grrrr 'you're not leaving, we want to play!!' it makes me chuckle just remembering it Oh & isnt it funny how my rant has been up for over an hour & not a single insurer who advertise on here have commented - i think not! even funnier when you consider some of them have been jumping on 'new member' posts within seconds or minutes of a new post so as to promote their business (again no offence directed at insurers on here, i am just stating facts as it would be good to hear an explanation if they are able to muster such)

thats the one chris. i have changed the radiator in my VR & noticed a while ago that the coolant looked mucky even though all the coolant was only changed a couple of thousand miles ago delfinis - how does the car run in terms of temps etc? if it is all normal i wouldnt worry about it

you hit the nail on the head there m8! i rekon insurers just make it up depending on how they feel at the time reason i say that is i have recently renewed my classic policy on my valver. I only contacted the insurers who advertise on here for quotes. one of the said insurers replied this to me in an email when i asked why their quote was so much higher than others.... "Unfortunately due to the area that you live in and where the vehicle is being kept we are unable to offer a classic car policy, we have therefore placed you on a modified car scheme which is the best price we can offer you." the car was stated as being kept on a private driveway - apparently this would be better than a garage according to the previous post & some insurers also, why could that company not offer a classic policy when it was currently insured under guess what....a classic f***ing policy WTF!!?? further to this, when i moved house in november last year i duly had to notify the insurer of the VR & the valver. the company who insure the VR said the policy would be slightly cheaper due to the new postcode being very slightly better than the old one BUT when i spoke to the other company insuring the valver i was told the exact opposite & had to pay an increase PLUS (& im sorry for this becoming a rant) what happened to insurance policies going DOWN in cost as we build up our NCB. The valver policy was a fresh 2nd car classic policy & as such i had zero NCB. After a successful year with no claims etc you would expect the policy to go down in price, hell no yet again the policy cost had risen despite me now having a 1 year NCB on my 2nd car. EDIT: having called the insurer it seems they forgot to put my 1 year NCB on file, they apologised & recalculated a 10% policy discount once the added said NCB. in essence i think they are all just robbing barstewards who try to con the public out of as many pennies as possible & have more excuses than a slippery cat covered in grease to those who work in the industry i mean no offence personally but please do offer your thoughts on the above as im sure many of us would like to know why there is no consistency (i should mention that i understand different brokers use different insurers etc which would equate for some of the anomalies but not on basics such as above)

very true Jim!! i thought id had got the car dry until i pulled the carpet up & to be honest i couldnt quite believe how much water was coming out of the underlay the underlay on the hard backing under the flat foot area was so bad i scraped it all off & binned it & yes again Jim it smelt awful!! however the dehumidifier has managed to get the underlay on the slope of the footwell dry but its taken over a week Jim thanks for the dynamat mention - i might get a little to replace the underlay i had to bin

good hunting m8

ive been having a horrible time lately with water ending up in both my front & rear passenger footwells but i think i finally cracked it last weekend as ive had dry carpets since however it has taken over a week to dry the underlay stuff which is on the bottom of the hard backed liner underneath the carpet - thus id advise to definitely take the front passenger under trays out & pull the carpet up. i found though i could get the carpet itself fairly dry when i investigated further the underlay stuff is like a sponge & there must have been litres i there when the car was parked on the flat i would find the rear passenger footwell was wet - somehow the water manages to track down the centre tunnel (feel under your seat rails) & pool up in the rear footwell. it would also sometimes pool up in the front passenger footwell when on the flat but not all the time. in my case stealth had replaced the foliage seal when they did the rest of the work & did a nice overkill on the seal for it. unfortunately after several tests to try to find the ingress (pouring water on the side of the windscreen, over the sunroof, onto the scuttle tray, down the door seals, removed the b pillar trim & even directly around the bottom of the foliage cover) i just couldnt figure it out when i went back after a de-stressing cuppa i checked the gf's storm for a comparison - low & behold i could see that on hers the thin plastic housing cover, which sits on the bottom of the windscreen & the top of the bulkhead but over the foliage cover, had a side closet to the passenger wing which was over the foliage cover returning to mine to compare i could now see that the side of the thin plastic housing was actually tucked up and over the top of the foliage fcover - thus as rain was running off the windscreen it was hitting the mangled housing side & going straight into the top of the foliage cover i managed to wriggle the side of the thin plastic housing free & then pull it into the correct position over the foliage cover (it kind of sits over it like a box with cut outs) there has been lots of rain this week & its been dry (i hope ive not jinxed myself now lol) with the aid of a small dehumidifier ive been able to dry the underlay in the sloped section of the footwell but i had to bin the underlay from the hard card which is under the front passenger carpet however - i think i will have to get the seat out & check the underlay in the rear footwell too in essence, sorry for rambling, i can confirm that water getting in around the foliage cover can produce wet carpets in rear passenger footwell too & it is worth checking everything very closely edit: i should have also mentioned i kicked myself all afternoon for not noticing the mangled thin housing on the previous occasions i had taken a quick look lol

id say if your already 2.5k in then its too far to turn back. sounds like you dont mind spending to get the VR back to how you want it & im sure you know the rewards i am in a similar position with my valver. it was my 1st rado & i had always said i never should have sold it, well, i probably shouldnt have brought it back last year lol it is currently in a boxing match with my mechanic, usual struggles to get the damn thing apart after so many years, & though it needs mainly new boots etc with the addition of a new steering rack & labour i must say im not looking forward to the bill however i know that every time i even just see it i get that funny nice feeling of 'mmmm ive got my old rado back' & i can honestly say that even though i have my VR as a daily i really cant wait to drive the valver again i guess in synopsis im saying no one can decide but yourself if it is worth it but i hope you sway in the keep direction :)

i bet there was bags of enthusiasm though chris ;)
