  1. Nice! people can post their recipes with how much Chilliado to put in ;)
  2. think i still have a copy of kur2y's fitting instructions I can copy & send you if you struggle to contact him goldie
  3. with a decent dremel it could be done in lass than half hour start to finish. daves16v kit comes with fitting instructions but its basically a case of...... remove gear knob lift up & remove gear stick cowling use dremel to take off a small amount of the lip at the front of where the gear mechanism fits (this is done to avoid having to drop the mechanism out from under the car & is not seen) unclip the old shifter & wriggle it out put the new one in centre it up left to right movement refit cowling & gear knob of choice sit back & enjoy the lovely new feeling of each gear throw :)
  4. No danger m8, happy to help :) the shift kit not only shortens throw but also takes away any of the factory sloppyness. i would definitely recommend buying a dremel for the install as a metal files takes forever ;) the grill isnt going anywhere, just PM me if you want it. as for fitting, you would have to take care regarding being messy but some silicone sealant would probably do the trick
  5. not sure if you know EJ but the Kappa range of infinity speakers all have their own individual in line passive cross overs & a 2ohm nominal impedence to cater for those who dont install chunky wires & use the very thin factory stuff. (ahhh just seen your signature, forgive me if im saying stuff you already know lol) i agree in principal that if budget allows then go components but as with everything it depends on how far you want to go & how much you want to spend if it helps quantify my setup, headunit + 5.25's + 6*9's (minus the sub/amp), was under £250 with some savvy shopping :D PS im not plugging infinity, its just my experience
  6. The wording on the about us is great andy. if only i had the money to give you to find me an E reg E30 M3 ;) maybe one day lol nice to hear your along the subtle but functional improvements line. my mom had estorils on her 2.0 16v & though they are nice they are not my cup of tea. for simplistic cleaning i really like the look of the compomotives clumpy1 has for sale at the moment http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=88042 i managed to get some BBS RX 2 piece splits for my valver & am just waiting for the 4th wheel to come back to me so i can polish the lip & rebuild it there are pics & info on my VR & 16v in my build thread if you want to see http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=44751&highlight=g0ldf1ng3r i know what you mean about 'marks' left from the side strips but if i remember correctly when i removed them from the white 16v some gentle heating & even more gentle pulling, then a decent T cutting & polishing made it all nice again Ahh that clever man Dave i refer to is a very nice chap on here who makes beneficial upgrades & super shiny extras - his user ID is daves16v if you look in the 'supplier section' of this site there are a few threads for stuff he makes, the short shifter is very tidy indeed & is on http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=61985&highlight=daves16v i have quite a few things from him....short shifter, polished stainless BMC bracket & headlight screws & slam panel screws on the VR & will be getting another 2 shifter's (one for my 16v & one for the gf's storm) again, there are pics on my build thread PS im an 'andy' too, tho not from stamford lol EDIT: i forgot to mention that i do have a late 3 slat grill with hole for VW badge which you could have. albeit the locating tabs are broken but im happy to send it you FOC if you want it & cover postage :) reason i have this is due to my 16v had it on it when i brought it back but ive managed to find a correct early 7 slat grill for it
  7. ha ha, im sure nick wouldnt mind a slight reveal but i understand...eyes peeled for your thread update!!
  8. Oooo nice find - looks a cracker :D
  9. sound & speaker choice is each to their own really & it depends on how far you want to go, IE all components or 2/3-way's, & how much you want to spend (costs can get silly) personally, over the all the years of installing dash, fronts, rear 6*9's & subs etc of many variations my personal favourite for balancing superb clarity across the range, excellent power handling (always in RMS never look at max power output etc) & cost is the infinity kappa range at present i run a sony DSX-S100 ipod only head unit with 4*55 watt RMS output, 52.9i 5+1/4's in the doors, 693.9i 6*9's in the parcel shelf & a very small amp & 10" kenwood sub - the sound & clarity is awesome (in fact the treble output had to be turned down as it is so clear its ear piercing lol) & TBH i can probably loose the sub but i want to change it for an infinity amp/sub integrated unit I brought my 52.9i's from car audio direct & having had a look they do a 6.5" kappa version http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/infinity-kappa-62-11i-16-5cm-225w-speakers which would fit your audioscape pods & remove the need for dash tweeters by all means if anyone is in the west mids area & wants a listen id be happy to meet finally - having installed some tiny infinity speakers in the dash in the valver many years ago (which remarkably are still in there when i brought it back) i personally wouldnt bother with the dash UNLESS going in the components direction hope that helps fla edit: oh i should mention that the sony head unit has a DSO function which is specifically designed to work with door mounted speakers
  10. by the way i like your website & the 'about us' section
  11. welcome. some very ice looking motors you have there....& a tidy unit to work in too ive always liked rado's in white. I think that was one reason i regretted selling my valver right from the moment it drove off & then managed to buy it back several months ago IMO i would revert the rear lights back to standard, remove side strips (as i think it gives much cleaner lines) & revert the grill back & get some better wheels on it. in terms of functional upgrades i would highly recommend a headlight loom upgrade & one of daves16v short shifters other than that just drive it & enjoy :D
  12. Kev, seriously, you cant tease us with such a short burst of critical info......details please? :D
  13. excellent news dragon, thank you! fingers crossed they perform well
  14. i have some infinity 2 way speakers in the dash of the valver but could not get the factory grill to ever fit over them & as such is just kind of rested on top i went the other way with the VR though & disconnected the teeny tiny dash speaker / tweeter & upgraded the door speakers to infinity kappa 5&1/4's, so as to match up with the kappa 6*9's & am chuffed to bits with the outcome are you running decent component speakers or what is the thinking behind upgrading the tweeters (if not upgrading the other speakers)
  15. That really is a tough one! I have no idea if they could help but i do know of a mercedes SL specialist sales & showroom which i recall my parents had visited. It is close to where i live & my parents said how friendly & knowledgeable the owners & staff were. It is probably a long shot, as they may not be able to help you find the actual car your looking for, but they may be able to offer some advice or direction to start you on the road to locating it Their website is http://www.theslshop.com/ good luck with it! i know i would love to find the GT6 my dad used to own around the time i was born & my mom made him sell it lol PS when posting pictures i click the 'go advanced' button & then use the 'add attachment' feature to upload pics as an attachment. some people manage to embed them in their post but ive not figured that way yet. FYI the attachment data size can be quite limited so i use 'windows image resizer' as a very quick & simple way to make them smaller
  16. No problem steve & very understanding of you :) We may be an over protective lot on here & sometimes jump the gun but in general it has the most helpful & friendly forum members & admins i have experienced they are always tough days! BUT i think thats one thing about a corrado which keeps all of our enthusiasm alive - they may present us with bills & challenges & scraped knuckles etc but all that angst pales into insignificance & disappears in the rear view mirror within a few seconds of driving them again :D
  17. Thank you for taking the time to explain Steve - it make a lot of sense, is very grounded & sheds a different light Please dont take the comments personally, mine was certainly not pointed directly at yourself nor was i judging you. This forum has seen many examples of people trying to take advantage & profiteer over the years & the members & admins have duly become protective over such matters. I sincerely hope your excellent example stays with you a long time & justifies your love of the motor we have in common
  18. sounds like a good decision Byrd & a great deal too with you getting first dibs to buy back :D
