  1. hi anna i spoke to spoonfed about their carbon fibre wings a couple of months ago the issue with shipping is that spoonfed will not ship to the uk - they said the service they use doesnt allow for it the guy said that a UK person had previously used a freight forwarding company to purchase some i researched into freight forwarding & there looked to be options available but it would be rather expensive. plus there would be an import duty on top of all of that spoonfed's price for a pair of CF wings is very good but i found that once all the rest was added they were around the same price as a pair of wings from classic parts however, spoonfed also do a fibre glass option which may give some potential for reducing costs are you able to discuss wings with them? i believe if the price was right they could be a hot cake item
  2. hi m8 - these.... full info on cost etc in my build thread & i also did a cost comparison to 288's IIRC
  3. ha ha indeed Mic i am finding that out i had hoped they would be good but this morning surprised me just how good they are id love to get the VR on a track now just to really give them a good beating, see how they cope with temps & fade etc
  4. well, 2 days of driving with the new bolster & though i did not expect to i can feel the difference with the new one holding me better i had to use the 4 pots in slight anger this morning, holy **** batman they are so much better than OE setup it is hard to put into words amazing retardation, no locking & make you hang on tight to the steering wheel else you would be kissing the screen if anyone is looking for better brakes under OE wheels I would highly recommend them & advise not to bother with 288's
  5. spoke to Heritage - they checked EKTA & said the white one should be 1.8bar will whip the new one off when get home & check it - fingers crossed it is a different pressure
  6. thanks for the replies im going to remove the new white sensor & check if it says what pressure it is - the one i removed was collected by the bin men so likely have to ring VW to check what the system says it should be i do have the old black one but dont think it is that as the alarm started after i changed the white one
  7. just spoke with my mechanic - his thoughts were along those of wullie, that one of the new sensors is of the wrong type & a different pressure he also agreed that if it was a mechanical issue i would have likely got worse symptoms by now hope i can find the old black sensor in the bin but think the bin men will have the white one as it was bin day on thurs off to VW to check what pressure they should both be
  8. thanks for the input wullie the answer is yes & no - due to the oil buzzer alarm going off occasionally in the past few months. however, as it nearly always stayed quiet after turning ignition off & back on i thought it was false alarming. i had also not previously noticed a regular pattern - which i do now. whereas before it seemed to alarm randomly it now triggers as soon as revs hit 2.5k, both when engine cold or hot i replaced the oil pressure sensors one at a time & on different days so they are definitely both in the right place, as opposed to me swapping them over by mistake unfortunately i binned the old sensors i removed but the white topped one was p**sing oil out of the top of it so must have been faulty i am wondering if the leaking sensor was distorting things & not letting the alarm go off when it should have been however, if it has been starving the engine of oil for those months i would have expected a bigger problem
  9. i also managed to crack on with the bits for the VR - which was much needed in the end & a bit of a rush as i needed the VR for work this week finally plumbed the new matrix in. glad i took pics of the engine bay as the hoses cross over at the matrix on the VR, unlike the valver carried out the coolant top up / air lock jobbie & all was running fine. nice hot air now & hot/cold mix due to air box flap reline got the steering wheel & drivers seat finished bar a final coat of conditioner a big thanks to lilfuzzer for the RHS drivers bolster, it not only looks awesome in place but also now giving my drivers seat a very 'new' look to it, plus the gliptone stuff make the leather smell superb. the seat base now holds me better & though the old bolster was not completely gone the difference is noticeable :D the gliptone stuff did a very good job overall & covered the slightly worn patch on the drivers RHS upper bolster nicely pointless post without pics so...
  10. cool, thank you geeba what you describe is kinda what i had figured from the diagram in the bentley - sounds very do-able on the drive will ring the motor factors & get a price for a pump & sump gasket - is there anything else i may need or be worth checking while the sump is off? i guess as i will have to drop the oil i may as well change it & also the plugs & air filter for a quick service
  11. ive changed both oil pressure sensors for new ones so hopefully the 'system' is now working as it should but also alarming to say something is not right ive not driven it since limping home i recall Vince saying that with the VR if the oil feed is not sufficient when engine is cold it will/should cut out when revs hit 3k, as that was his reasoning for my VR needing a new sump pump at the time if it is sump pump, does anyone know if they are easy to change? ive checked bentley manual but it only shows the system for G60 & doesnt cover the 16v specific only 8v, though i imagine the bottom end is almost the same
  12. had a week off work last week, main job being to reline the valver air box & i thought i may as well fit a golf mk 3 matrix whilst the dash was out 3rd time doing a matrix & think i managed to get everything out within a couple of hours, thankfully no stuck bulk head bolts this time lol plus, seeing as i had changed the valver matrix a year or two ago most of the tricky bolts/screws were not as tight as the first time took the opportunity whilst all was out to clean everything & also re did the various gaskets in the air feed system - end result i now have hot air when set to hot & cold when set to cold lol whilst doing the coolant top up procedure & to purge any air i had a look for the oil leak i had noticed - it seemed to be coming from the top of the oil cooler (i think, the bit on top of the oil filter). i switched off & cleaned the white top sensor the when turned on again it was clear to see oil coming out the top of it thus i changed both sensors, they were only about £4 each. which stopped the leak but moved the issue from a leak to now my oil alarm buzzer comes on as soon as hit 2.5k revs yay - boo! i suspect sump oil pump but have put a post in engine bay section here for help/advice VR update to follow
  13. hi all after some advice for my valver, its a 1990 1.8 16v i changed both oil pressure sensors last week due to finding the front one leaking oil out of the top of it, i did both as they were only a few £'s each that seemed to fix my oil leak but when i took it for a run to confirm my oil alarm buzzer kept coming on. off & on with ignition silenced it briefly but then came on again. however i managed to figure if i kept revs low it stayed off i then tested later once cold & under no load, ie stationary, & each time the revs hit 2.5k the oil buzzer goes off i have an idea that this may be indicating the oil feed is starved & not sufficient as revs climb above 2.5k which could point to the sump oil pump not working correctly can anyone help point me in the right direction pls? thanks muchly
  14. they filmed her as being the recaro seat delivery lady, they were the seats for the F40 IIRC
  15. ha ha, not me dont think ive ever seen an auto parts delivery driver like this either.....(& no not the monkey lol)
  16. that would be great if it could happen, id love to read through it
  17. no danger rob, just drop me a pm if you need them. i think my paint will be early next year now as the person going to do it came off his bike & broke lots of bones....crazy downhill mountain biker lol wow i would imagine most couldnt or wouldnt muster £400 for 2 fog light lenses but yes the start up with molds etc is where the cost lies i wonder if they make a heat resistant clear plastic that could be 3D printed lego for example get nice clear plastic parts so light output could be ok but the plastic would need to deal with the heat
  18. rob - do you already have the fog glass to make the repro's from? ive had 2 genuine new fog lenses in a box that came with the VR from back when i brought it they have been waiting for my re-spray before fitting i could potentially be persuaded to loan them for a short while if it would help
  19. can anyone help me with what bulb i need for the main beam, the one that is a blue light when on, for my early valver pls?
  20. no m8 but i do work for one of the largest motor factors in the country (i believe) The Parts Alliance not that i am sure that could help in any way lol
  21. new headlight switch put in the valver, will be able to see at night again now lol
  22. of course not, shy bairns get nowt as my dad always used to say i would imagine they do m8 i recall that when my gf had her headliner done she was told that they mostly do old VW stuff. there was a camper restoration place nearby & bernard & his wife did all of their interior work give him a call & by all means say that andy who has just had his corrado seat done gave you the number. FYI i did take the seat to him out of the car & also provided the replacement bolster FYI when i dropped the seat off i could see his wife working on someones new seat covers. they looked amazing! leather with green outers, black centre section & then that padded diamiond stiching
  23. winner - i am very pleased with it :)
