a little progress last night m8 gave the drivers seat faces a 4th & 5th clean - damn that dirty rinse water in the bucket lol - & then started to apply the conditioner will take some pics when i remember but the drivers seat is starting to look like the passenger seat even before the re-colour :D
-
decided to replace the jubilee clips on the matrix feed/return hoses with the proper clamps, finally the VW guy was helpful today & i didnt get the usual 'phht, corrado, not going to get parts for that' line lol
-
pity the staff delphi scheme is currently on hold else i would have asked for a price for you m8 FYI delphi are an OE spec manufaturer & most of the braking system on my valver is delphi as i got it so cheap they are small parts & thus post-able so i could ring my local motor factors & ask what my staff rate is there for you if you want?

probaly regrets getting caught rather than the selling lol

tell me about it when i was 17 i sold a stack of Marvel & DC comics which included a first edition No1 Incredible Hulk (where he was grey not green) & journey into mystery No83 which was the very first appearance of Thor the amount they are worth now, let alone the other gems in the stack that i wasnt aware of, is incredible & many many times more than what i received. i reckon i could now retire on the value if i still had them hey ho, i brought my first car with the money A489UOK iirc, a 1 litre nova in white with bright orange seats
-
am glad i delayed the seat work too as ive ow got a very good bolster from lilfuzzer to replace the drivers slightly sagging one ;) oh & i also started building the natural pond at the bottom of the garden by the veggie patch - by making use of the bath i recently took out when my dad & i refurb'd my bathroom lol
-
ha ha ha indeed it is m8! unfortunately the job order changes regularly depending on if anything screams lol
-
thanks people :) it is not that bad a job, honestly lol just takes time, patience & a few scraped knuckles lol am going to tackle the valver's over a few evenings i think as thanks to the gf i have a 2nd set of labels & envelopes to make things easier :)

had a week off work last week so took the bull by the horns & decided to get on with some of the work on the VR matrix first - started early on monday & by lunch i had most of the interior out & laid across my dining room table & workshop benches all went rather well, having done the valver's a while ago made doing the VR easier though i still struggled again to find the hidden screw holding the dash in lol unfortunately i was beaten by the very last thing to be undone, despite applying wd40 for a few days prior to starting the work the bottom nut holding the air box to the bulk head refused to budge & instead cause the captive bolt to spin queue 2 odd hours of trying to wrestle the fecker out with no joy fortunately my mechanic came to my rescue but 2 days later so i used the interim time to do a more thorough job i tidied the loose wiring up & taped where some of the foam wraps had disintegrated & then relined both the hot/cold mix & directional flaps in the air box - thank you kindly to the person who sent me the sticky backed felt for free!!! (user name escapes me at the mo) i relined the air box flaps in situ, which was a little tricky applying the new felt but wasnt too bad - getting the god dam back liner off the felt was the most frustrating bit lol I also started on the front seat refurb with the gliptone stuff, 3 washes in on the drivers seat & the clean water in the bucket (changed each wash) was still coming out dirty. i had misplaced the make-up sponges for applying the conditioner & colour so paused that job there TBC this week I am also hoping to drop the drivers seat into where the mrs had her headliner done a while ago with view to them swapping the right hand bolster for the replacement i have as on inspection it looks a bit to complicated for me to attempt as it transpired both of the air box bolts had come free from their plastic housing so a quick trip to the local motor factors & epoxy resin in hand i repaired them am pleased to say the mk3 golf matrix dropped straight in & was indeed the correct fit :D i then used saturday to start putting it all back together having cleaned everything & made my own new gaskets to help the air system seal using door draft excluder tape i ran out of energy at the point everything was done with exception of actually connecting up the feed & return hoses to the new matrix TBC on the weekend i think i have a feeling i may have broken my solar trickle charger by trying to start the car with it still connected so whilst i was in the motor factors i used my staff rate to get one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/AA-Battery-Charger-Maintainer-Batteries/dp/B00DW6RHN2 to get some decent charge into the VR battery & then also to be used in winter when it is off the road more this year even thougn i will have heat this time lol
-
ha ha ive never run a class - could prove interesting lol the directions on the products are pretty good but i also have a guide saved somewhere odd that the pics dont show, they are ok on my pc & were put on the thread as an attachment so not sure why not displaying IIRC it was Tim from the tv program 5th gear that recommended gliptone to me - he saw my VR when i was at my sisters & was pouring all over it & we discussed his porsche restoration

Headlight wiring upgrade from Rayne Automotive
g0ldf1ng3r replied to John Blount's topic in Exterior
blimey - i thought they had stopped selling them / trading careful with it Ron - they used to only be 2 relay versions, as such if the one which works the normal dipped beam fails you will not have any lights except full beam (which obviously you cant really drive with) rather than a 3 relay version, such as the KUR2Y ones, which allow side lights to still work if the dipped beam relay fails -
oooo ive just seen they are doing 'technician training' days to teach how to best use their products as they are only 5 mins down the road from me i might look into this

hi graham a local interior specialist for the re-stitching & gash repair i would say as for the cracks & colour etc, take a look at Glyptone (liquid leather) https://www.liquidleather.com/?gclid=CNuX5OLE7dUCFcO4GwodTOYHfQ they do the cleaner, conditioner & dye i did a review on my build thread of a steering wheel refurb & it came out superb.... http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?44751-g0ldf1ng3r-s-VR6-amp-1-8-16V/page17&highlight=g0ldf1ng3r i will be doing my seats in the coming weeks when i take them out to do the matrix if you have drivers side bolster sag, like many, drop lilfuzzer a PM & he will put you in a queue for some good replacements he saved some for me upon request & they are sat ready to be installed when i do the seats
-
i see - hopefully he will pop up soon i think he was at the ring last week

i understand your point fender but i would say it is the stat not the gauges as my VR reading changed when the stat did, the instrument cluster is the original IIRC it was Kev Bacon on here that told me that part about VW engineering the stats to sit at 90 to stop their customers worrying either way, id say nothing is wrong graham
-
i would say it is normal graham in fact thinking about it my valver has an old stat as that is normally around the 70-80 mark the VR definitely has a 'new' stat & it reads higher your oil temp sounds pretty spot on & a rule of thumb Vince at stealth told me was that water temp is normally about 10 degrees lower than oil temp as such, with your oil at 104, the more true water temp would be around 94 - which is perfectly normal & ok FYI vince also took a digital reading of my VR's oil temp sender, as i was getting some whacky oil readings not long after the stealth work, & the infra red jobbie showed consistently 6 degrees lower than the reading on the dash with your fans also kicking in for a short time after a drive all sounds peachy m8 :D
-
hi chris drop VAG-hag a PM & check who he uses for his VRT ;)
-
do you know if you had the thermostat changed? if not then it is likely it is an old one which gives a more 'true' reading - rather than a new one that VW engineered to sit around 90 constantly the same used to happen on my VR prior to head work & a change of cooling system including stat, the new stat sits around 90 & then rises a7 drops as & when
-
i was not having a moan about the price, my apologies anna if it came across that way
-
this is great news but holy hell of a cow - £125 per side!! £250 for a couple of strips of plastic sounds skyscraper :(
