ahh i see no, no need to remove any covers from the lights - just unplug the connector & then plug in either the new one or the spade ends accordingly

yup agree with rob shouldn't need any special tools for the rear door cards you might need to get some new door card trim clips though as they can deform very easily - there is a pic & part number on this page of my build thread http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?44751-g0ldf1ng3r-s-VR-amp-1-8-16V-headlight-woe-s/page24&highlight=g0ldf1ng3r in fact, i dont think any trim tools are required really for the rado. a 1/4" ratchet & extension bars are handy for dash removal but apart from that it is all fairly simply put together (very much unlike more modern cars!!) good luck

headlight back covers? depending on who's loom you get they either connect to the rear of the headlights using either an OEM type clip (same as factory loom type) or spade terminals connect to the corresponding spades on the headlight connector the headlights themselves stay fully intact

ha ha me too but in my valver either that or put on a wooden raft/boat set on fire & pushed out to sea or lake

hi m8 could i ask if you fitted the new fans to the OEM radiator? my VR fans can be noisey at times & am looking into options thanks

ahh ok interesting my valver is a 90 & the VR a 95

i wonder if the springs on my wipers are different lol i read time & time again about poor wiper performance but on both my valver & the VR they are not awful, they are not amazing but are more than sufficient unless doing 70mph or so on the m'way both have standard arms with bosch super plus blades. i did try a bosch aero blade on standard arms but found they were awful due to the curved profile of the aero blade was such that only the last say 10% of each end of the blade actually made contact with the windscreen personally i prefer rainaway as then i don't have to use the wipers at all lol

good knowledge to know have, thank you very much! i have listened to a few youtube videos of the BBM's on a rado but never heard in person. they sound brutal on the videos lol

tidy david, i like it :)

very true sparks, i know from personal experience that it can be quite costly to get a power increase out of the VR. that said i was extremely pleased with the 10% gain received from BMC & 263's & the stealth map makes it so much better over standard ECU mapping i guess it is horses for courses really like you say, both have their own pro's & con's i had approx. 60K miles of very happy driving in my VR before i tackled the chains, & only then as i suspected my valve stems were worn & opted for a head rebuild at the same time i think your point about the noise generated is spot on too. i guess some people like the sounds of the G60 charger & others, like me, prefer the range of noises the VR makes interesting you say the BBM is fit & forget, i wonder why they don't need servicing like the G ladder's also the sound they make is crazy lol

true - the main issue is with not protecting the relays from water ingress I keep playing with designs for a box for them but in the 6 odd years it has been installed I have only had 1 relay failure on my KUR2Y unit davidwort - did you use 4 relays so as eash side has independent relays for dipped & main beams?
-
nice write up delfinis & the rail looks excellent in the picture personaly, I am considering just removing the rails & cleaning & polishing the gutters. I think the only downside of doing such would be water sitting the in the gutters when stationary. can anyone think of anything else that could be detrimental?
-
wow! no offence to G60 owners (i would like to complete my collection & have one myself one day) BUT the supercharger needing a rebuild, & the nursing they apparently need, every 30-40 thousand kilometres sounds much more expensive in the long term than chains on the VR i regularly read about peoples fear of VR chains but if my VR was a G60 i would have potentially had to have the supercharger rebuilt 2.8 times in 6 years. i have now done about 70,000 miles, ie 112654 km's whereas my VR, now sat on approx. 166K miles, has only required the chains doing once. just out of interest does anyone know if the BBM chargers have similar rebuild intervals? their twin screw unit it a cracker but hugely expensive in the first place

i sold my valver quite a few years ago & regretted it the moment it drove off i brought it back last year & though it was mostly still my old car the huge folder of history it had & the Kamei front spoiler had gone missing that said it brings a smile to me every day now :D though it cost a pretty penny to get it back on the road with all the work that was carried out, & all of my time spent hunting & refurb'ing parts to get it back to how it was (or better than) when i first owned it, i am building up a new history file tough decision you have ahead but bear in mind also that if you store it & it is left standing a long time then it is likely to need a few £'s spent on it when it comes out of storage. good luck whatever you choose
