  1. Attached are some photos from the meet. I have uploaded more to Dropbox here. Was my first CCGB show and I really enjoyed myself. Thanks to all who made it a fun day out. Met some great people for the first time and had a stonking hot pork sandwich. Result. Also good to reacquaint myself with folk from the Post Office meet. Saw Paul (Kipvw) and Judith's (Butterfly) cars for the first time. Blimey! Aside from these two A listers, my favourite looking 'rado there was Andy's (C5 OEM). An amazing amount of effort has gone into creating a really beauty. I had noticed that the forum profiles for both VAG-Hag and Lilfuzzer says they "...have not made any friends yet". Having met them both yesterday, I now understand why . TTFN,
  2. A few pictures of cleaning up the arches, the new aerial gasket, the results of the G-Techniq treatment on the water deflector and roof trim; plus today's cleaning session ready for Elsecar in the morning.
  3. One day to go to the Elsecar meet and just about ready. Quick internal dust and a wash, polish and wax today. Finished the engine bay clean. Removed the waxoil on the airbox/battery shelves and replaced with a clear heat-resitant wax (Dinitrol Corroheat). Aerial gasket sorted. A few stone chips given the Chipex treatment. Did a spot of preventative work with some butyl rubber tape, sealing the internal rear apron seam on the inside of the boot. Poor seam sealing here seems to be another Corrado feature and a potential location for long term rotting. Also sealed the rear badge grommets from the inside to prevent leaking (the Silver VR6 needed welding here due to leaking). Refurbished the water deflector plastics at the front. Following some recommendations, used some G-Tekniq C4 permanent trim restorer and the results are outstanding. Have posted more in the car care forum here
  4. Just used some of this on some faded water deflector trims and roof rails and the results are exceptional. It is not cheap, but seems to be tremendous value for money if one coat does last 2 years. Supplier is here:G-Techniq Lots of information from users here:Detailing World As the manufacturer says:
  5. Andi, I am receiving a recurring message to you in my Inbox. A screenshot is attached. I get a report of a PM waiting for me (called 'THE Corrado Forum') and when I go to view, the screen shows as your Inbox (as attached) and not mine. The same Guest message is in there every time. Weird! Cheers, Andrew
  6. Chris, I think your picture is of the wrong part. I am looking for part number 10 in the attached. It's the bit on the rear apron that the tailgate lock in your picture (part number 9) clips onto. Andrew
  7. Hi Chris, Just wondering if you had time to look at the tailgate closure plate yet? Cheers, Andrew
  8. Thanks for all the interest. Seems like the body kit is a bit of a marmite item. The plan is to keep the car it as it is a bit different and does seem to suit the car. I have also managed to locate another complete red body kit which, if suitable, can go into the 'spares' bin. Bit of an update. Have started work on the car in preparation for the Elsecar meet - pictures to follow. Have done a provisional check of obvious parts needed; not too many. The bad news is that the local dealership is now only offering 5% discount on retail prices. The good news is that the local TPS (Chesterfield) was very happy to give trade prices on cash sales. Hurrah! Fitted four new 205/50 R15 tyres (Continental Premium Contact 2's) which are a huge improvement over the ageing P7000's it was wearing. Fixed a minuscule fuel weep last week, due to a badly fitting 'Clic' hose clip where the engine fuel pipes join the body fuel lies (in the little heat reflecting bag). The fuel dripped down the fuel lines and gathering in O/S floorpan tunnel. Over a pit, it gave me a chance to have a really good rummage underneath. Dirt aside, little evidence of any damage and rust. Minute leak on the sump, possible weep on the power steering pump. Original exhaust still going strong. Needs a full suspension update and refurb, as expected. Have had the wheels off for a clean, though they will need a professional refurb job in time. Cleaned all the arches out and around the fuel filler locking cap. No rust anywhere. All now waxed up around the locking lever and fuel filler neck, with Dinitrol 4941 inside the arch lips and known corrosion prone areas (one of the benefits of stripping down the Silver VR6!) and Dinitrol 3125 cavity wax inside the sills/rear arches. The front mud flaps have completely protected the front end of the sills which still look factory fresh. Suspension is in good condition with the VW labels still on the front shocks. Had the Recaro seats out and cleaned and fed the leather. One of the seat switches (driver's height) had just stopped working. It needed stripping down and the contacts cleaning. The driver's side outer bolster will need replacing eventually, especially with my big frame (6' 2" and 18+ stone), but the leather is in good shape. The body shop where the Silver VR is being fettled have booked the car in to sort out the top edge of the body kit. The sealant has dried and cracked in places and needs replacing and tidying up. There is a supermarket ding in the driver's door to knock out and a few minor stone chips here and there which Chipex will sort out for now. The mechanic I use is booked to replace the rear beam, bushes, bearings and refurbed brakes. The car needs a rear o/s bearing and bush and as I had a spare beam it seems sensible to change over the axle at the same time. Still debating whether to powdercoat the beam, or to use something like Zinga and sprayed with an Epoxy Mastic 121 paint. Hmmn! Engine bay clean today. Along with replacing the roof aerial gasket. Shouldn't take long. Hopefully.
  9. Do you still have these? What condition as looking for very good ones. Any pictures, especially of the tunnel (where is the screw hole)? Do you have any bumper grills left? Hi bud pics added they are in decent nick the visors a little dirty not that bad though, the fuse tray has damage see pic I can bring them to elsecar if you want Hi Chris, Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. I will definitely take the sunvisors and, yes, pickup from Elsecar would be great (pay cash on the day?). I'll pass on the rest but thanks for the pictures. Also, I am looking for a good condition tailgate closure plate - the catch on the body which the tailgate fastens into. The plastic top piece needs to be in good condition. Do you have a picture? Cheers, Andrew

  11. The deed is done ->And then there were two...
  12. Bought another VR today  60,800 miles Flash Red Leather heated Recaros Aircon Headlamp washers VW body kit Wolfrace Raceline 15" Alloys Period Sony CD player with Sony amp in the boot Suspension has been upgraded but not sure to what as yet I am owner 4. The 1st owner was the Proprietor of a VW dealership who had it less than a year and who fitted all the dealership bits. Owner 2 had it for 14 years (was his wife's car). Was sold after she had a hip replacement and could no longer get in it! Owner 3 had it for 2.5 years and did 10k miles in it. He sold it to fund a house purchase. It is in fantastic condition having led a pampered, garaged life. I first drove this car just over 2.5 years ago when looking for my first Corrado, having come across it by accident as it was not advertised for sale. I had gone to look at a VR6 which turned out to to be the son's. I absolutely loved it then but did not buy it for the sake of a few hundred quid :bonk: I learned an expensive lesson. I bought another pretty good VR6 (Dinkus's Silver one) and have spent well over a year doing an almost full nut and bolt rebuild of that one on the Concours trail. It is still in pieces (and yes I do need to update my owner's/rebuild thread). Still, I often thought about the red one that got away and how much time and effort I would have saved, for the sake of a few hundred pounds. Then, last Thursday, I saw it back up for sale with only 10k more miles on the clock and still looking great. Picked it up today and am as happy as Larry. Shame my wife does not (yet) share my joy!
  13. Hi Paul, I felt so bad about letting you down that I have decided to buy a second VR6 just so I can still play Am going to look at it tomorrow and if it as good as it seems and I can do the deal, I will be bringing it back home. It should be OK to put on the stand as is without too much embarrassment. Will confirm tomorrow but keep the Club stand space warm for me. I would also like to join you all for the curry but no need for floor space. My partner is going to go mental when she finds out :bonk:
  14. Hi Paul, Sadly, going to have to drop out of this :-( Have just got back from nearly a month in Iraq, and with other commitments, I am just not going to be able to put the car back together again by 25th April. Will still be visiting the show, though. Cheers, Andrew
  15. Done. Many thanks indeed, Gaz  Cheers, Andrew
  16. Great :thumbleft:. Give me a shout when you need money and an address.
  17. Hi Paul, I am interested (and will be visiting in any event) but: 1. Will need to rejoin the CCGB (easy) 2. Need to complete the rebuild once the body shop has finished the respray (much harder) It is looking good for (2) by 25 April, at the moment. For now, can you put me down as a reserve and I'll keep you updated? Cheers, Andrew
  18. No worries. Many thanks indeed for the offers.
  19. Yes Kev, they are your old MO's. The car is his second/third silver one. Thanks for the advice. I would love some KW V3s; you could establish my fund if you bought the wheels back? Andy: Apologies for the hijack!

    Screw sizes

Screw sizes are usually listed in the VW parts catalogue (ETKA). An online version, VAGCAT, is normally available, but is currently off-line VAGCAT However, if you try this link you can access a translated copy of the Russian version of VAGCAT: VAGCAT Russian translated. The headlight/foglight stuff is under the Corrado 'Electrics' section (translated as 'Electrican'). HTH,
  21. That might be my car you are talking about as I bought his last one! With the dampers wound back as soft as they will go, it is better but still very firm, harsher than I like, not quite nasty though (even with the shocking roads in Sheffield). I drove a friend's stock Corrado recently and was surprised at the difference; much more pleasant for everyday use. As Andy has asked, would new springs alone make a significant difference?
  22. That SWG cover looks very smart! Nice work. Do you know which textured paint was used?
