1. Yes dude... Number 4 in the first post. The garage put a new one in for me. Looks fine... Been looking in my Bently manual and spotted the above. It says "disconnect thermoswitch and touch to ground" Does it mean touch the thermoswitch to earth with the wire connected to it or what?? How do I touch it to ground? Could this be the problem??
2. I'm sorry for the laymen tech-speak but I'll try to be as detailed as possible... I've just got my car back from the MOT centre... They couldn't conduct the MOT because the fan wouldn't engage and the car was over heating. The garage apparently tried to connect the fan directly to the coil but after doing this the battery wouldn't start the car (it's a new battery though, it should work...) Prior to sending it to the garage the following was done to the car: (see pic) The radiator was replaced with a 6 month old second hand replacement. The Two temperature sensors 12 &13 above where both replaced with new OEM parts. The fan was hooked up and tested with a battery. I placed a current across the fan terminal and the fan spun nice so the motor is fine. After testing the car myself on the drive and finding the fan not working I asked the garage to replace the fan switch in the radiator for a new one (unsure where they got the switch but I imagine it is a cheep one from Browns/Dingbro's/Autocar Parts ect. The only other electrical work I have done on the car is fit an external uprated head light loom (from Kur2ly on here) I've checked the fuse box... they're all fine (although I did fix my stereo while I was in there so that's a bonus at least!) SO.... What's wrong with my Fan? Dodgy earth maybe? where is the earth to the fan? HELP  P.S. I have a multimeter but I'm a electrical retard and wires scare me... If there is anyone near Dundee who could help I would be grateful! Otherwise just make sure you talk slow and explain as you would to a trained chimp holding a blunt instrument.... :thumbleft:
3. I would buy your chin spoiler off you but I don't have a replacement 50mm one for you to buy... If you end up buying a 50mm one instead of swapping give me a PM
4. try telling that to the guy at this shop! You'd think it was his £60 i was asking for back... Thing is I've been in there twice now with this battery and they want take it. I'll have to phone some ones boss...
5. I wish you lived near me... I could do with you coming to Autosave to shout at them for me... I'll never remember all this stuff. Maybe I'll ring Autosave up (their main office if they have one) and see what they say. Failing that I'll have to drive to Aberdeen.. they have 3 shops there. Thing is I've topped up the electrolyte now, It looks like a normal duff battery now :)
6. You could always take off the door handle and look at the cabling coming off it to see how it looks and the connection. I have a replacement handle It that helps but you'll need to replace the barrel and the striker pin from your working handle. you could have it for the price of postage ;)
7. your dealer is a wizard... Mine have 2 delivery dates a week and all the parts come on those days (provided you order before 3-pm the previous day) regardless of how far in advance you order them... :(
8. This explosive quality you speak of... hydrogen and oxygen building up in the battery I can comprehend would go BOOM eventually. But I have a open battery, not a sealed one. So the hydrogen and oxygen just come off and dissipate in the air. How would the battery "gas" without me charging it? Also, do you know of any literature on-line that would help me prove this to the shop! Thanks BTW, this conversation was a great help!
9. yes but i didn't have that problem... read the 1st post the battery has been on trickle charge since it came off the car... I over charged it! If you undercharge the battery then at about 25% charge the lead plates start to distort and buckle and this can eventually cause shorts. My battery didn't have this happen to it at any point it wasn't even in the car at the time. ---------- Post added at 11:24 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:11 AM ---------- That's ideal mate thanks, I've taken it off trickle charge now and we'll see where it settles down. I'm picking my car up tonight so I'll take the battery with me. Hopefully the garage has a tester I can use... If i could save the £60 that would be great. Last thing I want is to have less to spend on fixing the car. sorry if it sounded like i was having a go BTW, Im not annoyed at you... I'm annoyed at Autosave for not taking my battery back and giving me a refund...
10. Hows your car battery? when my battery was low the central locking would unlock itself after walking away from the car... was very annoying! you still got the original vacuum system? It maybe the pump on the way out too.
11. If you absolutely need it right this minuet then just take the sizes down to halfords... they're expensive, don't last very long and they may not have the exact size but at least you can get it on the car until the OEM one gets to you. Your vw garage should be able to get you a belt in a few days. alternatively Drive around with the heat blower on full and try not to get get stuck in traffic!
12. yes but it would seem that you didn't find the problem and didn't check the electrolyte levels... you just bought a new battery! that's hardly helping me! I want a new battery but i can't really afford the £60!
13. Hi all! I have recently put my car in for an MOT and found that the battery that has been on trickle charge for 6 months didn't work. It would charge to a point and then loose it's charge after a day. Checked the electrolyte levels and It was almost empty... I think my trickle charger was passivating the water in the electrolyte (turning H2O in to H and O) I got some distilled/ionised water and topped up the cells and popped it back on to trickle charge. I'm measuring a Voltage of 13v across the battery last night and 13.7v this morning. My question is... How can I test the battery for current (amps)? I want to see if it holds it's charge now I've topped it up a bit. I don't have my Corrado at the moment as it's at the garage so I can' t plug it in to that. Also, what's the chances that I've fudged the battery?? It was on trickle charge for 6 months almost! just bubbling electrolyte away... BTW I tried to take it back to the shop (6 month old battery with 2 year warranty) and they said they wouldn't do that because I had let the electrolyte get to low :(
14. The guy who has my car is starting to **** me off... I was planning on driving my car down to bristol next weekend... I may not be able to at this rate! STILL NOT BEEN FOR AN MOT!! :censored:
15. I wouldn't mind this if you don't mind? I suppose so long as the cover is for a 65 battery then any car battery cover should fit ok ---------- Post added at 03:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:47 PM ---------- Thats Incredible! BTW :suprised:

17. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/corrado-golf-g60-supercharger-/150648334542?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item23135728ce Considering it costs £400 to get them serviced now adays I think that the price is very reasonable....
18. I was working on the C the other week changing the calipers and fitting some second hand Carriers I got off a mate... After cleaning them and painting them I tried to fit them only to find they where the wrong size for my Disks.... To small So I had to try and remove the carrier from the old hub I had to fit the brakes... In the effort I got angry and smacked my Torque wrench with a hammer. Now it's all bent :(
19. I did that in my pals Audi S3s Quattro... good job no one was behind me!
20. I've noticed this... It takes ages to fill your tank campared to say a few years ago... do you think that it's limmitted to Litres per pence? so you can keep and eye on the value your putting in it?
21. no problem mate! It's a great product and you where very heelpful with advice as well :) The car is still SORN but it's currently going through it's MOT so maybe next week??? looking forward to it! hope your MINI is going well btw! and hope this move goes well for you! :D
