1. sorry to change the subject but what's your budget and what are you wanting from your new car?
2. Just got back from a week in mull! Hope to have some rado related news in the next week :)
3. already fixed it :smug: needed a new panel though... no way that was going to be just welded... the folk on here are generally nice people, and they can always say no. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?51185-Where-to-find-your-nearest-corrado&highlight=nearest+corrado there is a list of folk and where they're based. Every one on this list is a member and most have said they wouldn't mind checking out a corrado in their local area. Drop them a nice PM or start a new thread in wanted section and see if anyone can help.
4. Yep if the car is on sale near another forum member as well you could be VERY nice and ask someone to go look at it for you. Save the road trip... I know a few folk on here that have said they would provide this service... I'm not saying you will though! lol :( that's my car...
5. he needs it for an engine conversion for his Mk 2 golf... He also needs a VR6 engine though so maybe he wouldn't mind a OBD1 engine and loom? i dunno... I just post what i'm told too
6. WOW... surprising! Thats the same price ish as ebay then
7. I'm certain that a VW parts centre will get them cheaper than that. I reckon 20p each with VAT would be about right.
8. How easy is it to swap over David? There is one screw is there not for the dizzy?
9. Kev said he had one only yesterday... but then was it OMD2? I'm not sure what it all means to tbh. I was asking for a friend of mine see! He's already got a advert in SVAG
10. if there is oil about then probably best to change it as you say. It's only held on by one screw i think but I'm not 100% sure with the 16v. (i assume it's not a g60?)
11. the green fluid has to meet minim standards set by it's euro code... I find it hard to believe that VAG have a higher grade all to themselves, simply because I doubt they would go the the effort. I'm going to stick with my Cheep green stuff... you can tell me told you so in 10 000 miles!
12. no shelves yet but I'll soon whip up some timber ones :) Realy? dam it! have I just entered the slippery slopes of shed buying? One after the other will fall under the weight of my rado's demanding parts list...
13. Hi guys, Not much has been happening on the car as this week I finally decided to step into my manhood... Im now 2 weeks post-op and feeling fabulous! Thanks to everyone who supported me! Especially Kris xxxx :camp: Nah.. sorry to disappoint you all, no down stairs mix-up that I know of going on. But there is a subtle change that has occurred... I speak of course of the inevitable slide towards old age. I have finally stepped into the ever expansive and subtle plains of the land of "Old Men". With it's grey, rolling hill sides and it's wrinkly beaches, lapped by the seas of father time... I speak of course, of buying a shed... here she is: This monster sports a duel slide double door system, integrated wind bracing and whopping 2.8 cubic meters of storage... she's like a metallic chuck norris! :rambo: The reasons for getting something like this where as follows: My spare room is currently being used to store tools and car components... the rest of the tools are stored in the boot of the corrado. I hoped this shed would allow me to put my garden equipment and DIY tools in here, outside and that would allow me to empty the spare room and corrado of tools and parts and pop them in the hall cupboard where the garden tools are currently stored. Mr Girlfriend threatened me with violence if i didn't buy it... SOOOoooo... now that I have a shed, any other old fogies wanna meet up and swap ration tickets or something? This is all a little new to me...
14. What's wrong with the other normal green power steering fluid?
15. ps.. ignore the rust in that picture!
16. that pipe in the red circle
17. 2 jubilee clips. Take a screw driver with you as well as some rags to check oil etc. G60's like clean oil so knowing when the last oil change was would be beneficial too. Turn on the car and check for any noise coming from the car that shouldn't be there, Youtube is full of video's of broken chargers and good charges if you want to know what to listen out for. Then go for a spin, If the charger is not boosting or is leaking oil the performance will be very poor, it should be obvious.
18. I'd go for another second hand spare... i think you've just been unlucky there, they're quite reliable are they not providing you keep them topped up with fluid?
19. If your looking in the engine bay then on the right hand side of the charger there should be a black pipe section that goes from the charger down to the inter-cooler (located in the passenger wheel arch). Take a section of the pipe off near the charger end and rub a clean finger round inside. Should be relatively clean... If it's covered in oil then the charger is leaking oil and is likely in need of a service.
20. As per title, need the loom and the ECU (OBD2) in good nick please! delivered to Glenrothes, Fife ---------- Post added at 11:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:36 AM ---------- Common! I know they are out there... There was a discussion about how many there where just the other day... Anyone?
21. If it's the charger and not a boost leak then you should see oil leaks inside the main boost output pipe that goes to the intercooler. I would go have a look at the car.. how far away is it?
22. is the cap ok? If the cap is damaged you can get that separately. Also, check the ignition cable to the distributor is not damaged... The cables are dead easy to change, if you have a VR6 then you ideally need a tool to remove the cables on the spark plugs as they are set quite deep in the block, but it's not impossible to do without. the 16v and g60 plugs are quite easy to get too. Id say you don't need a new distributor.... if the hall sender was broken then the car wouldn't start at all. Remove the cap, clean the connectors with some wire wool and check the cap and leads for damage. Also... take some pictures and post up your car! We love a good peep show :D
23. they just get old and corrode... The vag ones are well made though so they last longer. They are essentially small radiators but they sit in the cabin with you so if they spring a leak (especially when the engine is running and the water temp/pressure is high) they can dump a load of hot water on your feet. and even if you don't have a big leak, they can form loads of steam and steam up your windscreen almost instantly... making it impossible to see out!! Can be quite doddgy on the motorway! :pale:
