  1. Start the car and wait for the lights to start going and then rev the engine... if the battery isn't getting charged then you should find it is hesitant or even miss-fires. Do you have a multimeter? check your battery has at least 12v across the terminals with the ignition off and at least 14v with the engine running. Could also be a dodgy earth, best to give them all a good look over
  2. Fixed! Just that loose wire and a new voltage regulator! Now a healthy 14.5 volts across the battery :D happy days! Sent from my iPhone you lemon!
  3. they're cheep enough, and they'll rattle one of these days.
  4. Found the problem i think... I had a thought to myself and it went like this: I'm reading 15 volts from the alternator to the battery but that's not current... that's potential difference (sounds obvious to some maybe but not to me...) soooo, maybe the earth's are dodgy? So... I checked the earths. I dismissed these originally because I could hear the "click" noise when I turned on the ignition. so I left it. Had a look last night and found the starter motor earth is almost completely hanging off..... only a few threads of wire hanging on. I hope this fixes the problem but I'll let you all know tonight. I'll fix this tonight and hopefully that should be it.
  5. I've known the piston to be loose and still seal correctly. The only way you'll know for certain in to get them off and have a look. Did you buy them from new? Do you not get a guarantee with them? Sent from my iPhone you lemon!
  6. So what's everyones thoughts? I assume no one went the other day?? Sent from my iPhone you lemon!

  8. seems very cheep and looks pretty good... would like to see under the bonnet though and it's in Ireland so a little to far away from me http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/vw-corradp-g60-supercharged/89098384
  9. whey! nice wheel dude! Might be tempted to try something similar on mine with a g60 badge
  10. if after reading the above you do still want 6x9's btw then at least buy my parcel self off me and sell your nice un-cut one on to someone who needs it! seriously though, i just replaced my shelf for an unmolested one and changed the front door and rear pillar speakers. The difference in sound quality is profound! those 6x9's i had hooked up where powerful but all the noise was in the ears of my passengers in the back... not at the front of the car where i was. I was considering re trimming the underside of the self or the rear wheel arches with two small subs but they would take up to much room... You'd end up with no boot to speak of.
  11. these things used to be ten a penny... now they're like hen's teeth. have you chatted to your local vw garage? Some people have found the parts chap would sometimes give you a handful for free, however mine told me p*ss off.... :bonk: there was also talk of the forum buying a new bag of them for forum members to share but i'm not sure how that went. The new bags are available from vag but they cost a bit i think. Good luck find what you need!
  12. Must be G60 specific as I need the pulley as well as the alternator. in good nick please, delivered to Dundee

  15. Disaster! No car this weekend alternator is dead... Gutted :( Sent from my iPhone you lemon!
  16. I already did that and it read 15volts positive alternator to negative battery
  17. I'll be up for this soon enough i think. Going to trade in a few games In the next week or so, I'll get it then. Looking over the demo though I don't see much of a difference in terms of the feel of the game. Not much of a marked improvement... Has anyone tried the kinect compatibility yet too?
  18. not checked the earths but I'll do that at the same time as I change the alt over... I can't hurt to swap them over anyway
  19. I've got a new alternator to put in so I'm just going to do that i think. I havn't been able to test the battery properly no but I think unless i can give it a good charge soon then it may well get knackered. It's only a few weeks old but it's been fully flat a few times, now.
  20. ok, so I changed the voltage regulator on the alternator and I'm still not charging the battery... Got out the multi-meter and measured the following. 1/ battery voltage of about 11.9 volts and going down with the engine on. 2/ Voltage from the positive end of the alternator and the negative end of the battery is about 15v and now holding steady.... What?! I don't get it... The battery is capable of being charged because you can hook up jump leads and charge it that way no problem. Also, the alternator is kicking out a steady 15volts. Why does the battery keep going flat!!! HELP!
  21. I've been having trouble with my battery on my car... I'll fill you all in when i send the pm after lunch I hope i can still make it though.
  22. I'll send a pm out tonight to everyone ;) Sent from my iPhone you lemon!
