Alex_G60_Fanatic replied to boost monkey's topic in Members Gallery
lol had me fooled! Wish i was good at 3D modelling... not much call for it in the domestic housing market. What did you use to draw it. -

Jim's Corrado - ciao to the Fiat! Hello to.. (P64)

agreed! -
Hmm.. i would call it sporty... not a sports car It goes that one step beyond the Golf, the "hot hatch". Family orientated car... that WAS sporty and fun to drive but you could still pop your shopping in the back. The Corrado just misses out by being that little bit more practical than say a MG midget or similar. It was speed and performance focused but not at the compromise of comfort and/or usability. But then... that just makes it a better car in my eyes :D

You wont want to see mine then! It's a mess! I'm not sure i'll be able to make this now... My corrado is still without new track rods after the crash and I don't have the cash to fix her until next month :( unless anyone else from tayside wants to give me a lift? Sorry guys! If you have fun then I'll defiantly be up for one next month though :) -
hard to get boost, but once its there, oh boy?

it didn't sound right when i wrote it down! -
makes you wonder why folk with stock chargers spend £400 every 30-40k to fix the charger when you could get a new one and have 120K miles of blissfully uneventful driving!

The interior styling is a little "lip-stick" for my tastes but otherwise I think they look quite smart. And they live up to the original concept of a small affordable car very well in my opinion. Jim - Some of the other super mini's are ok are they not? The Alpha Mito for instance I think looks rather classy (apart from the "nose" on the bonnet perhaps) and the toyota Aygo is fab to drive so long as you don't wont to get some one in the back.. unless you know any paraplegics! However I think the 500 is the best of the bunch, I drove my friends 1.2 and it was delightful round town. Light and well balanced. Top choice for a daily run around IMO -
Ahh sorry misread your second post! Coullstar - That's amazing, do the OEM seal and bearings out perform the new ones then or is it just never same once you start to dismantle the charger? 120k is a little more than recommended 65k  !
-
That is a VERY smart looking G60, nice buy! 104k miles and no service on the charger though! :suprised: I'll be very surprised if you get very good boost at all tbh. I'd get and check the charger hoses for oil if you have a free min... if you don't find oil then I'd be very surprised! Otherwise I think it looks spot on! Are you sure that she's on OEM shocks? she looks spot on in terms of drop... or is it those wheels that's making it look that way.... I would swear you should have a good 2 inches above the tyres to the arches.

I agree with this... you shouldn't have to spool up to 4000 rpm to get a good pull. You either have a boost leak or the charger isn't to healthy Not quite... Super chargers will show a lineage power increase but they are most effective at low revs compared to turbo's. His charger should be noticeably pulling from 2000 rpm all the way up to 5-6k... he shouldn't need to gun it to see a power increase... you don't suffer turbo lag and the super charger doesn't need to spool up because it's already turning! Gothmolly things you need to check are vacuum pipe from intake manifold. This needs to be exactly 100mm long (please correct if I'm wrong here guys) with a good seal take the charger pipe off the exhaust side of the charger (the one that goes down to the inter-cooler) and check for oil... there will always be a small amount of dirt in the pipe but if there is allot of liquid oil then the charger needs servicing! check for boost leaks along the air intake system. Spray some soapy water around the charger hoses and throttle body gasket. Check your intake manifold for blowing or cracks start there but also take a look at your spark plugs and HT leads... it could also be ignition related. Chargers that are ported to stage 5 are always right on the edge of falling to bits... the casing and internal gubbins are all knife edged to the point where they are very fragile. this means that they need servicing more often and are effected more by dirty oil etc. When was the car last serviced? and when was the charger last serviced? ---------- Post added at 10:01 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:47 AM ---------- just as an aside... this happened to my g60... put your foot down and nothing until 4000rpm when I would notice a marked increase in pull... almost like turbo lag but more instantaneous. That turned out to be the charger leaking oil into the air intake. The oil cakes up the plugs and en-riches the fuel mixture throwing off your ECU. Only at high revs with WOT did the air coming in mix well enough to give a good spark and get the car pulling again. -
the vr6 was based on the Mk3 though wasn't it?
-
so long as it is the same engine code i think it will fit sure.

If he's taking the front of the car off then you can just drop it on the floor using a few jacks and then just push the car back leaving the engine where you left it... I've seen it done but it's not something I'd like to try myself! esspecialy If your using a Skate board as engine support! Sounds like your really cracking on with this now dude... hope this spurt of activity wasn't because I beat you too it! -

Blugh! Tough love.... You tried febi?? Genuine parts will always be pricy. Better long term fix though I suppose Sent from my iPhone you lemon!
-
sounds reasonable... they're about £50 so not expensive that could have been the engine just pushing the oil with it's moving parts... I'd still take a look at the oil pump
-
modern filters have those nuts on the top... depends on the manufacturer of the filter tbh. Sounds bad though... might be there is no oil in the car though as the filter fell off. Did the RAC top it up for you?? Sad days dude.... :(
-
sounds good :) Sent from my iPhone you lemon!

I'll take the G60 rocker cover please :) How much to send to Dundee?? Sent from my iPhone you lemon!
