  1. If it's still there it won't have been updated since about 2004  ! Perhaps it's something I ought to do this year but I've never really been one for taking pics of the old gal, so any you do find will be at standard ride height!
  2. 42k! No wonder it looks so straight, good work that man! Yeah mine is lowered using the tried and tested H&R springs with Koni TAs combo. Drop is approx 35~40mm with good ride comfort and handling. Many people prefer to go down the coilover route with KW the current flavour of the month. Whichever decision you make it will be better than the comedy 4x4 look and is, of course, easily reversible should you want to retain originality. 8)
  3. Weekend and fun use only, use van for work now so the car lives in the garage. She looks like a daily though with the amount of dings and dents that seem to appear every time I go to the supermarket/multistorey :censored: Would love a respray but it adds to the originality in it's current state i spose  . Guess people would think it looks uncared for close up but that's far from the truth!
  4. Very nice indeed! If you do mod it then I'd perhaps stick to the easily reversable stuff as you have suggested as there can't be many left as original as that. 8)
  5. Jees that is bad luck! Sorry to see another C bite the dust but at least nobody died. As has been said ALWAYS keep a suitable fire extinguisher to hand as car fires are just so unexpected (I keep a couple of good old halons in mine). People often don't bother cos they think it'll just rattle around the car for years and that they'll never need to use it. Incidents like this prove otherwise. Best of luck getting it all sorted out
  6. Seems like jugheadharry got a bit of a bargain there, makes you wonder how low prices will fall to ...
  7. I used to use a Fiat Scudo on a Y plate and while I had no complaints about the carrying capacity, it was the non turbo version, as such it was gutless and took forever to get up to a decent pace, especially with a full load. It was also poverty spec so not very comfortable to live with day in day out. I'd imagine the non turboed Citroen and Peugeot variants would be exactly the same so avoid these. Now I use a Peugeot Expert HDI on an 03 and it is much much better. Carrying capacity is identical, it handles pretty well (for a van!), they are a lot quicker with the torquier turbo engines and therefore more relaxing to drive plus you also get modern luxuries as standard such as remote central locking, leccy windows, mirrors, audio controls on steering wheel etc. One thing to note is look for evidence of a recent cambelt change, both mine didn't have evidence of this so were done for peace of mind @ around 60k miles ish. You should be able to pick up a decent enough one for £3.5k. HTH :)
  8. Cheers guys, I'm rather liking them in this pic 8) download/file.php?id=50598&mode=view
  9. ...of them on a Corrado? Always quite liked that style of wheel and I presume they'll fit ok as I've seen a Mk 4 Golf wearing 15" Speedlines. TIA. :)
  10. haha - where abouts are you my friend - i can't really ask for the mates rates that i get very often as it's taking the piss - however if you are anywhere near hereford then i can put you onto them and you should get a better rate than normal...[/quote:1snbjvlx] Any chance you could let me know the details of these guys please Pete? I've been living with stone chipped and patchy paint for far too long! :( Cheers
  11. I think people would be happier if it had been designed to actually look like a coupe, which it doesn't, rather than a hatch, which it does. Sticking the word Scirocco on the back of this seems like a kind of badge engineering to me.
  12. Thanks to CorradoRun, steering wheel arrived quickly and in great condition, cheers mate :)
  13. I originally started off looking for a G60 having already owned both 8v and 16v vesions of the Mk2 Golf, so thought it'd make sense to take the next step up. However by the time I'd saved enough to buy a minter, VR6 prices had fallen to a level I could afford. Wasn't looking for a Storm in particular, but what I paid for it was standard VR6 money at the time so it was too good an oppurtunity to turn down! :) Would still love to own a G one day though 8)
  14. Had mine just over 4 years now, and worryingly, I've been thinking of getting rid of it :?
  15. Good stuff Dave, great to see another one saved from the breakers. Looks tidy from the pics, what plans have you got in mind for it?
  16. Auto Express = The Sun. With VW already making the Eos do they really need 2 convertible coupes of similar size? Surely they'll have learnt that lesson when Karmann were building the Scirocco and Corrado at the same time. I can't see this thing being built.
  17. Hopefully the story is true and Karmann can build this car, no doubt it would be a good seller too which would be just what they need. Although the main carbody looks ok, personally I'm not too keen on the shape of that fabric roof from certain angles. .
  18. His bereaved wife and child for a start...
  19. Don't bother with Mk2, they'll eventually seize, go for Mk4.
  20. Have a looky here, and welcome to the forum :) viewtopic.php?f=15&t=44799&hilit=volkscars
  21. Hi Toad I'm good thanks hows yourself, gonna be unable to make it to E38 this year unfortunately. Which may actually be a good thing....
  22. Lol will do, 4 years ownership and can't believe I've never noticed it before!
  23. Cleaning the car tonight and noticed bits of rust falling off from under the rear bumper. Closer inspection revealed a metal strip riveted to it which is gradually crumbling away. Anyone know if this piece is available separately, and if so is it really worth replacing as I assume its only there to add strength to the plastic?
  24. Have you tried GPC? http://www.gpcvwaudi.com/ Always best to ring tho as the website hasn't been updated since about 1896
