yeh i'd be interested too please, any pics of your previous creation?

I like the LED route, but another option is to pinstripe the lenses so they're a mix of yellow and red, that's what i did.

I hope she goes through ok! Good luck! :DCheers Alex, unfortunately things didn't go according to plan!
Got the car back from the garage and all was ready for the MOT. Drove it back from the garage, got up early Friday morning as the test was booked for 0800, drove to the MOT test centre, bit of a queue so got in line and waited my turn.
Audi in front goes in, 5 minutes later MOT man appears and beckons me in, great stuff I'm thinking "i can't wait to get through here and have a sunny weekend driving around after a year off the road".... i turn the ignition... nothing, frantic ignition turning ensues, still nothing. My sunny daydreams are replaced by a bleak "bollocks".
I couldn't chuffing believe it, i've never had starting issues like this before, and the timing couldn't have been worse. Embarassingly I have to push the car out of the queue of waiting cars and phone the AA - gutted!
40 minutes later the AA man and I have checked the spark, coil, coil power, injector pulses and relay 109 with no luck, but just before calling the tow truck we give it a final go... it starts... but not before I've missed my MOT slot.
I drive the car home feeling rather feeble.

Cheers Zak, received mine last week.

it will definitely be a mkII golf part as it shares the same bosch k-jet injection system on the KR engines, be surprised if the 2ltr 9a corrado and passat don't also use them, and then there's the audi models that also used k-jet or ke bosch systems too.
guess its a dealer only part though.

this was a topic in the last year or so, and remember someone saying the cheaper stuff performed as well and in some cases better (more accurately) than some of the more expensive and desireable brands in independent tests.
i'm happy with my Halfords professional job, gets good reviews and reasonable money, and with the spare budget you can buy goodies instead!

yeh i read about somone tinting their rears with lamin-x, smoke tint i think it was, has definitely been done.
sorry no idea which forum i saw it on lol.

on a 2 litre I assume, you realise the motronic delivers stricter emissions control for 2 lires's - MOT?
-
I find it hard to look past 16" vento cups, kind of rare though.
Only pic I could find which is Nicksvr6 of a similar thread.

Payment & address sent, cheers for sorting.

Crikey not sure how I've missed this thread for so long, great car Andy and good skills!
-
I'll take a couple of sets too please Alex.
-
you'll get a lot of sideway looks, probably from people like me - but I'd be smiling inside, as its a respectful nod to the camper king, do it for sure :)
-
make sure you get the correct sender range for the guage :)
you can buy T pieces on line I think, if you liked experimenting and were really brave you could try tapping a new sender thread!
-
thorough work and looking good as always, liking the daily!
-
if its the same as most over filter housings then get a vdo dual pole sender, they combine low pressure and actual pressure readings through two separate poles on a single thread. they're bulky in comparisson to OE senders though.

looks like a good purchase, keep us updated.

welcome along, you'll find all you need to know on here.

well after a year off the road..... she drives!
i just dropped her off for a pre MOT check to the local VW specialist, and glad to report the subframe or wheels didn't fall off on the way :)
poor quality phone pic, just chuffed its a step nearer the road.

there's a few for sure, check out yanyards 16vg60, also a chap called flusted built one a few years ago, he was talking about using an eaton charger at one point too. also a tech called JMR i think has built a 16vg60.
ultimate valver engine in my opinion, get one built :)

'no big plans' is how we all start :)
seems a solid example best of luck with it.
-
incredible, constantly amazes me how these detailers rescue paintwork like that, and it had done well to avoid the usual rust areas too. i think the wheels look odd too... would look much better on mine :)

decided to change the ignition switch, i can rule it out the intermittent starting issue now, and yeh what a PITA, i just looked at the screw upside down wondering how the hell i was supposed to get a screwdriver to it.
when i eventually got the screw out i decided to saw grooves all the way round it so I could use a finger to screw it back in from the gap underneath, way easier now and for the future.
