welcome along :)
-
nice clean bay, be good to see another supercharged 16v on the site too. keep us updated on the build.
-
well it won't be finished but have booked an MOT in early november anyway, so i'll just get what i can done in time, i want it back on the road!
-
looking excellent, like the fact you've kept the badge chrome and not gone black.
-
crikey those pictures look familiar, i had rust in similar spots but not round the boot hinges as you had, makes me feel better knowing i'm not the only one dealing with rust! good work.
-
welcome along, good to see these TDI conversions becoming more prevalent, and anything with 300lb has got to be a lot of fun :)
-
that wheel is sharp looking indeed, nice work.
-
£50!? good going, anymore going at that price!
i thought this motor was in pretty sharp shape to begin with, but you're taking it up another notch.
-
haha yep i'm going DIY, i'm not obsessive compulsive but i like to think i've some attention to detail so it should turn out ok, better than a lot of standard factory -orange peely - paint jobs anyway :)
power to you as i've seen you're making a good go of it on your thread.

quick update.....
- got my front recarro's back from the trimmer, they're not fitted yet, but still chuffed how they came out for the grand sum of £115!! will most likely have to grind and weld the subframes, but that's minor hassle.
- invested in a new headlight switch and 24v sump courtesy of the group buy's on here, going to wire the inline fuse when fitting the switch, again well chuffed with both of those. hopefully will be getting sorted with a headlight loom also, so that will be the lights sorted
- the real work however has been prepping and painting the car, only have one photo of the prep and dont intend on posting the final results till its done lol, happy with way its going though, but man its a lot of effort!
- going to book the MOT for the start of November, yeh its the wrong time of year for getting it back on the road, but I can't go without it any longer!
-
but god compared to that scooby in the background with the chrome 3 spokes on it looks sweet.i know that car, the granny with the bags owns it lol.
congrats on purchase, nothing that can't be tidied up there :)

Got 1 spare now.
hi, can i take that one please :)
-
his moniker is 20vturbo or similar i think, and he's a wee bit older than 17, i don't care what hes written lol.
its a great thread, with no needless BS or self idolisation, just a photographic record of knowledge and ability.

Latest looks lovely, very mint and good write up. As Jim says try getting the injectors serviced, I got 6 done for £70 i think it was, which delivered a 30% flow increase and basically confirmed they were still within performance parameters. You can buy the service through ebay, I used a guy called Mr Injector, had them sent and returned within a week, well worth it.

i've just had a set of half leather recarros retrimmed with plain black recarro cloth, not fitted yet, but I think they look great, obviously won't be to everyone's tastes.
i like the two tone/ texture look it gives.

if you're only doing small stuff then would recommend Deox-C powder instead of sandblasting, just boil the kettle, dissolve some powder and leave the item to soak, with the occassional wire brush it gets it back to bare metal.
-
maplins do self amalgamating too. don't use electricians tape, it'll come loose and look shoddy in no time with all the grime around an engine bay.
-
great work, glad to see someone else getting to grips with welders and bodywork :)
-
Awesome. I want!
-
I'll take one of these too please Matt if there's any left, PM me your payment details.
-
i'll take one of these please, let me know how to pay, need posted to Belfast too.
