  1. Once again the imfamous idiosyncrasies of the Karmann Corrado electrical department!!!!!!!!!
  2. I'm not saying you wouldn't have four lights on, just that the H3s will be on and the H4s will only be on the dipped beam filament when main beam is selected unless you hold the stalk all the way back which will do the main beam filament on the H4s. Try it on your Mk2, select main beam holding the stalk back, if I'm right it should get brighter, my C did. I questioned a mate who had a Mk2 when I got my C cos I thought it was buggered and he said his had all been like that. It seemed daft to me so I was happy when the Loom sorted it out.
  3. I'm getting some heat but then it goes. I'm thinking i may have leaves blocking most of air flow through the matrix meaning so that the unblocked bit gets cooled with the extra air passing through it. Does this sound possible/plausible? I do have less air on the hot setting but the matrix would slow it a bit anyhow surely?
  4. I managed 48mpg once on an 85 mile trip from Wallingford to Maidstone round the M25, but that was with a space saver wheel fitted and i only got up to 65 acouple of times before i noticed and dropped back to 50. Usually get around 34mpg in my little 174k mile valver. Colin
  5. It's relatively straightforward, awkward bits being the coat hook and the seatbelt height adjuster knobs (stiff on mine!) on the B pillars and the rear trim across the roof has a large blob of rubber sealent in the middle, unless it's been removed before. Get a look at a Bentleys manual it's all there. Colin
  6. There was a recall years ago and by-pass valves were fitted in the matrix pipes but IRCC the golf mk3 matrixes are sorted for this problem so you should just need one of these, get a genuine one, some people have had probs with GSF ones. If I'm wrong someone will correct me!!!!!!!!
  7. There is a screw at the front of the handbrake hole. The plastic is quite brittle and if someone's had it off (oh err!) and not undone the screw it will have cracked or broken, i think there may be similiar under the rear ash tray as well, but don't quote me on that!!!!!
  8. Standard corrado loom gives you just the dipped beam from the H4 bulb same as mk2 golf, with main beam being just the H3.......unless your lights are off and you flash your lights, then you'll get both bulbs on, i suppose to make it more obvious in daylight. If you get a double circuit uprated loom you'll get both bulbs being used for main beam, Lurvely 8) 8)
  9. :? Is that an option only available on late VR6s?? Do they have flaming swords? Wouldn't fancy them myself. It would probably be like having the missus onboard all the time moaning about speed round bends and roundabouts, and my cursing of the incompetents etc etc etc
  10. Mad ol' bit of kit! I wonder what the wallet damage was like? Quite steep I should think!!!
  11. Good plan. Sounds like the spoiler though TBH. Luckily for me it was a 17 year old fuse on it's last legs. If it is the spoiler it may just need a clean up, do a search and you'll find a link to a yank site on dismantling and reassembly.......if it's not on the knowledge base! Good luck, Colin
  12.  Good point. What the Feck were they all smoking in Karmann's electrical section back then????
  13. If it's a fuse problem you'll also lose rev counter, fuel gauge, MFA functions and dash warning lights (although not the blue, main beam led!). Mine blew sunday, it was either no. 15 or 16 i think, 15amp (blue) anyhow. Colin
  14. It was with two people but we were both a bit beefy
  15. You could always grip the socket with a big pair of molegrips then you have access to the allen key socket thingie. Worked for me 8)
  16. Oh i get it, so ps = bollox
  17. Personally I'd get one with two relays so you get the main beam light of your H4 bulb in your dipped lamps at the same time as the H3 of your main beam lamps. That really makes a difference. Mine was £45 from Venom motorsport 9 years ago. Since then I've used 2 sets of H4 bulbs and had 1 fuse in the loom blow, which is no prob as main beam and dipped circuits have a fuse each so you always have your dipped beam available though you may have to swop a fuse to 'get you home'. Sorted 8) Used to be someone doing them on here somewhere try a search.

    power roar

You did that! Still you now know how to post pics on the forum so it wasn't a total lost anyhow :)
  19. interesting device, especially if you can even benefit on a long motorway run.
  20. If you're talking about plugs and leads, VW stuff is good quality, plugs are good for 30k and the leads are £70-80 a set but the up side is they last forever(ish)

    Lost Wiper

Too right! The hyperdrive/warpspeed effect can be very distracting  8)
  22. Indeed yes. Luckily I had a mate with a lathe turn up two custom tools for nowt, it all helps!

    power roar

I really can't see how that fits.
  24. i think you'll find you'll need Mk2 16v hoses as the 8v ones are too short.
  25. I shouldn't think the discs would be affected at all to be honest. Should be able to knock out the bearing races out with a hammer and drift/screwdriver. Put them back in with a socket and hammer or use a vice if you have one. Then it's case of finger tighten the hub/disc nut. Although i've found that they my need a tweek up a bit later so i tweek'em a tiny bit more just enough to guarentee they won't slacken. You can tell if they're too tight by rotating the wheel, you'll hear it! Use the wheel on to check for play too. There's probably something in the Knowledge Base I'd have thought.
