SilverG60 0 Posted October 12, 2004 I'm looking to have the supercharger on my G60 overhauled and considering a stage 4 rebuild by Jabbasport. Has anyone had any work done by Jabbasport if so how did it go, were the results impressive, was the service ok..??
VR6 0 Posted October 12, 2004 General opinion. Don't bother with them. If you can remove the charger yourself, or if you're close to West Sussex, use G-man aka Darren (G-Werks).
dinkus 10 Posted October 12, 2004 There are quite a few people on here that have had a bad experience with Jabba... both from a customer service and exploding charger POV. As VR6 says, Darren is apparently the daddy ;)
Jim 2 Posted October 12, 2004 Or JMR! Both have equal daddy status around here in the West Sussex area! :)
g-master 0 Posted October 12, 2004 I had a stage 4 charger from jabbasport and it was fine, but that was a few years ago, if i was looking for a rebuild now i'd defo go to G-werks http://www.g-werks.com Darren is a top bloke and know's his stuff! Jabba are more interested in 20v turbos and the like these days. :D
Si B 0 Posted October 12, 2004 Check out our website at http://www.matey-matey.com for the full low down on one of Darren's excellent G Lader rebuilds. I was most impressed.

stevemac 0 Posted October 12, 2004 wardc1980, Where exactly would you like me to start ? They had to rebuild my charger twice ? They didn't replace all the bearings that were worn ? Their attemp at porting is basic ? They lied to me ? I think you get the picture - I wasn't very impressed with them at all :x

beavis 0 Posted October 12, 2004 Thats why you need to see the doctors to prescribe you the propper drugs.. the right steroids do not give side effects.. well apart from boost return noises :D
gibber 0 Posted October 12, 2004 Ive seen some of the drugs that beavis has prescribed to my mates car, only thing is I think Klieny has been doing the old one for the car and one for me business  !
G60Jet 1 Posted October 12, 2004 I cant personally complain about jabba, but i've hear so many people complain, and they are all saying the same thing, My charger is going to G-werks next time, (they also do great stage 5 chips too) which is saving me money over the jabba chip!! The porting on my charger is not what i would call neat, but i am not 100% sure that was them.
steveo29 0 Posted October 13, 2004 ive had some experiance with jabba...i can confirm that the porting is minimal, more like removing the casting flash!!...yes they lied to me as well..they were really unorgainised and didnt seem to care if i used them or not i know like 6 years ago they were the only rebuilders and mike did care about your custom...well its all changed now and they dont give a monkeys i will either try to do myself or give pitstop a try

G60Dan 0 Posted October 14, 2004 My Charger was originally done by Jabba Sport. Early this year I took my car for a service there. I wasn't impressed with the customer relations. I felt like they didn't care whether or not they had my business & were just trying to get the car finished as quick as possible to get the next one in. Must say the older grey haired guy wasn't like the others & seemed genuine & had time to chat about the cars/engines etc. My charger was due a service, so I decided to give G-werks a try - having heard so much praise etc. Now after going down there, meeting the boys, seeing how they work & chatting to them, I wouldn't take my car to any other G60 specialist. Was very impressed with the work, I would highly recommend them. When Darren took my charger apart, he did actually say Jabba's porting on my charger was pretty good. But then it was done 4 years ago, and standards seem to have slipped since then. Dan
vwdubs 0 Posted October 14, 2004 Lets just change the thread to be titled G-Werks/PitStop, it looks so much better :)
SilverG60 0 Posted October 14, 2004 thanks for the feedback guys. looks like I'm off to G-werks then, glad I asked the question.

Neil VR6 0 Posted October 14, 2004 I bought my car off a VW mechanic and he swears by Jabbasport. When I mentioned G-Werks (much more convenient to me as I live in Kent) he said that they were appaling. One of his mates took in a charger for a Stage4 upgrade and as a point of reference put dots of TippEx on parts of the internals that should be ported. When he got the charger back, all the TippEx was still there and the original bearings were still present? Who should we believe?
coolrado 0 Posted October 14, 2004 im pretty sure if he had raised the issue with the lads at g-werks they would bent over backwards to sort it out i personally dont believe they would do that having seen the standard of their work first hand and seen them working on chargers myself :| did he actually raise this issue with them and are you sure it was g-werks as this definately dosnt sound like them to me the drive belt on my charger was stripped after the monkeys at a vw garage changed the charger twice without changing the oil feed line (which was the cause of the damage) costing the previous owner over £5k in new chargers and labour when i sent my charger to daz he found a few more problems with it than just a stripped belt including an incorrectly pressed in exhaust bearing which had worn into the end of the main shaft and destroyed the exhaust seal and a poorly fitting seal collar all of which he replaced for the standard re-build charge
Henny 0 Posted October 14, 2004 let's put it this way, I had my charger rebuilt by Jabba just under a year before my engine bolt broke and wrote off the engine... While I was rebuilding the engine, I sent the charger to Daz to have a look at... He sent me photos of the internals and the bearings were non-too-clever and were definately on the way to seizing up! :| Daz commented that the flowing that had been done by Jabba was reasonable, but he took it a little further anyway, and opened up the outlet to match the Golf G60 U bend outlet that my car now runs with... When I questioned Jabba about it, they just plain didn't want to know... Even though it was under warantee, they didn't reply to any of my emails (with photos included) and just fobbed me off on the phone... I know where my money will be going in future, and that's either G-Werks or JMR for any work I need doing... 8)
