Best of.......Corrado Forum 2010

Recommended Posts

As the end of the year closes upon us thought it would be nice to revisit some of the Corrado forum contributors highlights for 2010. So lets hear about your favourites with some supporting comment.

1 Favourite thread

2 Best show

3 Favourite forum Corrado of 2010 (3 choices each)

4 Best supplier (garage, services or parts etc)

My intial thoughts up to now

1 Butlers DIY Storm revamp, great progress :salute:

2 Very difficult as several were memorable but British Volkswagen Festival just pips it.

3 Kevhaywires superb turbo daily. High spec high speed daily built to be driven :salute:

Judiths Storm. Continued progress to creating a superbly presented stock concours car, surely now hot on Kip's heels

Kip VRs Storm R32. Proof that custom doesn't always mean gimmicks just quality.

4 DG Autotech. Genuine enthusiasts developing and supplying superb Corrado solutions

Lets hear yours

Ok here's a go

1) Best thread was the one we used to hook up with everyone in Scotland when we did the big group trip this summer.

2) Best show I went to this year was Stoner Park. It was a great show this year, even by Stoner's high standards, and the weather was terrific.

3) ok

I'm going to start with coullstar's VR6 turbo. What an absolute monster. Really well looked after, noisy and quick as hell, and the red paint is as red and unfaded as the day it left the factory. Graham is a great bloke too.

Second I'm going for lilfuzzer's VR6. I just loved those banded steel wheels, and I know I'm not the only fan on here.

And finally I have to say how nice it was to see OSV's satin VR6 again at Stanford Hall. He was parked next to my car most of the day, was great to see it back in safe hands again. No matter how long I look at that car I cannot find a fault with it.

4) Supplier : My vote goes to Venom Motorsport, who still offer a decent range of Corrado aftermarket bits. Some of it is on sale at the moment so get in there.

Roll on 2011 :D

John

p.s. anyone reading this who was one of the 6 Corrados that I managed to catch and lap in just 6 laps at Castle Combe back in July really should give my car a vote. Not to mention the owners of the two VR6 turbos who couldn't catch me despite starting right behind me as we left the paddock, haha.

1) Best Egg on Toast - very handy hints.

2) Pass, dont go to shows :(

3) Kevhaywires : intense engineering, intense knowledge, intensly annoyingly good ........ C5 OEM : love the bay and the 'standardness' ........ Coullstar : just when I was starting to love those wheels ..........

4) The Phirm : even better now I dont need my wellies !!

Good idea for a thread!

1. Kev's turbo thread is a great read as are Bruny's and Butterfly's, but the extra engineering imput of Kev's just tipped it as a better read for me.

2. I suppose you'd have to have been to a show!

3. Herisites, I just like the way it looks and it's got the nice motor!!

OSV for the great blend of parts gone onto it producing a top style.

Bruny's for plain dedication to perfection and high standards.

4. My mate Jon, who let's me use his workshop when i haven't had a garage and has done some spanner work on my car, cheers fella :salute:

Ooh, nice thread, and thanks for the vote :)

1 Favourite thread - thats a difficult one as there were so many good ones. It might sound strange but I'm going to say Kips Nugget incident as it (currently) ends on good news... Kip is still waiting to take the car in for the repair as the snow has delayed things so hopefully the 2011 bit of the thread will be even better.

2 Best show - Gonna have to be Harewood House as I got a trophy and the club got best watercooled club stand (and it wasn't a mudbath and was almost warm).

3 Favourite forum Corrado of 2010 (3 choices each)

Again that's a difficult one

- James campaign for all the trials and tribulations hes had

- Kip VR for the amount of stripping right down and getting things spotlessly clean (let alone the engine stuff)

- Brunyees VR for finding the love again after the engine trouble and for keeping the pressure on

4 Best supplier (garage, services or parts etc) - Got to be DG of course, I don't think I need to elaborate.

Edit - bother I was also thinking of Sam the Grams for fav Corrado but couldn't decided. Not seen by many but a beautifully executed strip out/lighten and engine bay stuff (not that I understand any of that bit)

1. Corrado 20V turbo thread, this is one hell of a build.

2. Stoner Park, excellent weather, excellent venue and chance to talk to some great people.

3. Again 20V Turbo, would love to see this car in the flesh, and have the time to do something like this myself.

4. Best surplyers in my opinion is this Forum, having brought some choice parts off people over the pass year.

1. Probably says a lot about my level of operation but it's got to be Wullie's Ant Massacre thread.

2. Pass. Only do local meets.

3. Too many absolutely brilliant Corrados to mention. OSV's for the ultimate OEM+ thing I think. Always had a very soft spot for vornwend's Storm; exactly how a Classic Green should look.

4. DG, DG, DG.

Great idea this.

1.) Has to be Wullie's ant massacre tips thread.

2.) Best show, this year and last year, has to be BVF. Quickly becoming my favourite show of the season.

3.) 3 best Forum Corrado's - Very tough as there are so many good ones now so I'm going to stick to ones I've seen in the flesh...

- Kevhaywire's VRT. Such a complete car, power, handling, everyday drivablilty and built at home. And a massive inspiration for my own car.... he should have kept the Rota's though...

- Kris' VR6. Standardy goodness, straight and simple and gorgeous with it. And a thoroughly nice bloke as well.

- CrazyDave's VRT. Smooth useable power all day everyday. And on first glance it's just a normal VR6, until it spanks you when you're trying to keep up with him!

4.) Got to be DG Autotech. The only people I deal with these days and it's a 250mile round trip everytime..... must be doing something right.

2. Bristol Volksfest- a really nice surprise. At a new location, cracking weather (sunburn!), really busy and a damn good turnout of Corrados. Camping next year, methinks :)

3. Difficult one:

CrazyDave's VRT

OSV's VR6

My old 16v (now owned by V8rumbler- for sale though)

4. DG Autotech + Awesome GTI- so good on price, service etc.

3. Kevs VRT - Fantastic colour need I say more :)

Cazza's old 16v- Looked great and ws used daily

This is a good thread.

and thanks john :D

1 Favourite thread - This a a hard one but think i have to go for "timmy" thread of the rebuild and trimming as the trimming is just class and so jealous. Mind you Kevhaywire only cam second as I have not finished the thread yet just so much to digest.

2 Best show - For this year BVF as I have always wanted to go and this year made it and made so many new and good friends :D

3 Favourite forum Corrado of 2010 (3 choices each) - another hard one.

First has to be "crazydaves" VRT as the passenger ride at national day just made me smile and mumble make mine like this. The set up is pefect for just driving then the power if you want it

"Coullstars" previously corradovr6nos as I remember looking at the arches in his garage when the paint had just been completed with the rebuilt splitts on and thought how much I liked the red.

"Vag Hag" storm at Elsecar with the Eurohoon 2009 stickers still on and dirty from the trip around europe 8 months previous. The re-actions from the show goers was funny cause there was a ring sticker right across the bonnet and the wing

A special recommendation as I am not sure if she is on the forum but the wide rear arched valver at BVF this year as had a chat and the commitment on cutting down the shell takes some guts but as said not sure if she is on the forum.

4 Best supplier (garage, services or parts etc) - D&G as they have always answered my questions friendly even though some have been stupid and have developed and supplied parts that I think are smashing.

But aside from the forum I have to say Frazers Autos as I am always there pestering them to take this off and that off with the windy gun. With Gaz senior threating with a smile to get rid of all the scrap in the garage even that engine thats been on the stand for months, but think he likes the fact his kids are into VW's and have built a quite a few good uns as although they are a citreon specialist the majority of motors booked in each day are VW or a branch

1 Favourite thread

Easily the Comp Group buy thread you started Gareth, i love my wheels and wouldnt have them without it :luvlove:

2 Best show

Bug Jam, love that show

3 Favourite forum Corrado of 2010

Cheesewires VRT, makes mine look a little under engineered. But i still love mine so its a close second if thats allowed

4 Best supplier (garage, services or parts etc)

The Phirm, Tim did an amazing job sorting my engine and bay out, and chraged me so little, top bloke who knows his stuff

Favourite thread - Definitley Gareth's Compomotive group buy! I've always loved the flat spoke MO and thanks to him we got them during a limited production run and at a superb price. Thanks again Gareth :salute:

Best Show - That's an easy one, I don't go to shows

Favourite Forum Corrado of 2010 - Very difficult when there are so many excellent cars to choose from! I don't like these 'favourite cars' type threads as I always get a sense of guilt choosing one car over another, but I can't choose them all, so here goes!

I'd say KipVR's R32 C is at my number 1 spot. The engineering and attention to detail in that car is staggering. A true OEM+ masterpiece :notworthy:

Heresite's car just looks the nuts in his pictures (and in the flesh). The combo of that paint colour, wheel choice and stance makes it my favourite 'looker' Corrado 8)

And a VRT has to be in my top 3, naturally! And I choose Big Ben's. It was a great car to begin with but since he's taken it over from Marcus, it's now an absolute stunner :salute:

And thanks for the votes on mine folks :D

Ah, forgot the Favourite Garage, Supplier etc - Not been involved with any garages in 2010 but a mention goes to Speedflow. Without their parts and excellent service, my VRT wouldn't have been possible :D

1. Favourite thread has to be Worst week of my life ever. How a group of people, most of whom haven't probably even met each other rallied round with support and how it all finally worked out well.

2. Don't really attend shows as they are a bit thin on the ground up here.

3. I couldn't pick a favourite car. They are all pretty magnificent in their own way ffrom the OEM restorations to the let's see if we can get the first 1000 bhp Corrado.

4. Jim at JR Volkwagen in Paisley, apart from him it would have to be this forum which is a mine of information.

Merry Christmas Y'all

1 Favourite thread

Mine of course...

Originality thread.

2 Best show

VW North West @ Tatton Park - My first time of showing a car and I was overwhelmed by the freindliness/helpfulness of all those I spoke with and met.

3 Favourite forum Corrado of 2010 (3 choices each) In no particular order

C5 OEM (Andy)

Butterfly (Judith)

Bruny (Dave)

4 Best supplier (garage, services or parts etc)

Ashley James interiors of Adlington. For obvious reasons if you've seen my thread.

The work I've completed so far would have been very slow progress without the help from the threads past and present on this forum. I therefore would like to say a big thank you to all who run and post on this site and wish you all well for 2011.

Ok, my views -

Thread - i think he was called tribetype, where the guy made an unbelievable dash and interior, others, James with the Campaign and KipVRs brilliant R32, that is what i wanted to find under the bonnet of my old one.

Shows - erm, none this year for me.

Car - James' Campaign, i love and want that car. Other corkers, Bruny, BIg Ben (The compomotives make that car look sensational)...

Best Garage - Ive no doubt DG are the ones out there, ive been lucky this year though, no garage involvement so i cant cast a vote...
