Decided I would put the fuse box under the bonnet using the mk5 fuse box, so will wire it to this rather than the fuses I mounted under the scuttle

Waiting for a battery box to arrive so I can have the matching pair.

I did have the battery in the boot but thinking it can look better under the bonnet in a proper box

I had that fuse box on my old Octavia, check the fuse for the lights, there’s 2, the one nearest the screen (standard size - the other is super size) had been arcing on mine causing 7 lights to go out - can-bus etc

FFS...! I've just spent the weekend stitching my battered centre console together with 3D replacement bits and a soldering iron. Wish I'd seen what you'd done with the MK4 one first - looks fantastic.

A bit late now, but I solved the sticking out climatronic panel by putting the u-clips on the clima panel and mounting it behind the centre console insert - completely flush that way. edit - just realised your is an early dash, so the clima panel would probably sit differently to mine

Set up my TPMS sensors today.

I dont have CAD of the wheel and tyre so had to go old school by cutting an old tyre up, small hint, if you have a door directly into your house from the garage, best not to cut a tyre up using an angle grinder, the wife was not happy with the smell 🙂

The TPMS I have is F1 technology so has an infra red sensor looking directly at the tyre carcass as well as the pressure and air temperature, not much use on the road but adds to the gimmicks

I've set the pixels to look at 5 points across the flat of the tyre, some teams have them looking at sidewalls because of camber they use but I won't have alot of camber so not a concern.

will see something like this on my display

In other news, the battery bow arrived so that will be looked at over the weekend

Ooh, now I like that last photo. Where was that?

That was in a local detail booth, was a little worried before it went in but the paint wasn't too bad

Next task, the rad fan driver

The mk5 fan is too big for the rado rad so I have a slimline in place but I wanted to have the control from the ECM which sends square wave pulses at different frequencies for the speed

To get that I needed the mk5 controller board that is on the back of the rad fan, so started by stripping it from the motor

51129939806_48fec5ebc5.jpg

The tabs that would usually connect to the brushes were folded back and wires soldered to them

51129939801_97461d16dd.jpg

The wires were then run to the slimline, it also has the output for the second fan if I choose to add it at a later date

I mounted it to the inner wing so it will be mostly tucked up behind the headlight

The whole electronics is potted into the metal heatsink housing so nothing extra was needed

Looks very sci-fi!

Having just been wrestling with slimline fans myself, that's a neat solution. I had hoped to do similar to you and just reuse what was on the back of the fan, but on the original it's not nicely housed unfortunately.

How did you mount the controller to the inner wing? Thinking that might be a decent location for the panel resistors I ended up using.

This is all very impressive stuff, will be great to see it finished!

Just because I can, the electric handbrake is fitted

51221629085_8a3acda190.jpg

51220768248_2caa0c88a3.jpg click on pic for video (hopefully)

And following the recent madness for the sale of a centre gauge, I have gone digital instead

51221628915_ecf6624bc3.jpg

51219842462_e8d4542eae.jpg

She is nearly ready for the road, I have sent of the V5 to update the colour and engine, need that back to try to insure and claim for a new screen🤥 if they allow it 🙂

Then need the driveshafts cos the one I bought doesn't fit and the second one is still being made since before xmas 😡 and finally sort the bonnet and MOT 🙂

Finally received the BBS centre caps from China, they dont look to bad once fitted

51265489165_fcf4c5b9b4.jpg

Also heard from the guy making the short driveshaft who has said he could not do it, 🤦‍♂️only 7 months waisted waiting for it

Some time spent researching and found the Skoda VRS shafts are the correct length but the spline for the outer CV is for the 5 stud flange, as much as I tried I could not find a CV that fits the shaft and the 4 stud flange, so option 2 (or is it 3 or 4) take a 5 stud flange and make it a 4 stud 🙂

Started marking out the holes and realised they old stud holes needed welding, especially as I decided to use the M14 wheel bolts

51264452451_e92e81a711.jpg

That all went well, and the studs fit nicely

51265192049_c12197f720.jpg

51264642988_754498ac55.jpg

And it fitted together following a strip down of the the hubs with new bearings fitted and never seen the road 😞

51265191534_d351142ae6.jpg

51264452346_bd722e39ec.jpg

Thats 1 side done, I'll do the other side next weekend

The centre caps look a great fit. As for the rest of your miracle work, it looks great. You must have a superb garage set up

This weekend saw the second drive flange modified and the driveshaft fitted to the car

Then following a bleed of the brakes it was finally time to see if it moved

Couple of vids, click to view

51275046053_1d00a5465e.jpg

51274876301_44fb4d7313.jpg

Then while it was sat outside I thought I'd get another pic, it seems to have some camber on the rear, I assume they all have some but its more noticeable being speced out from the brakes

51275899205_6f212db47a.jpg

May need to see if I can reduce that camber
