Caliper wind back tools - Recommendations?

Hi all,

 

I'm looking to refurbish my rear breaks, including calipers as they look a little rusty and are starting to squeak.

 

Does anyone have a caliper wind back tool they use or favor, I've looked at a few, some people seem to just use a G clamp instead (looking at u tube video's).

I've been using that one for years on all of my VW's and Audi's.

 

I've got no complaints.

Mines a good old Halfrauds one !

Think halfords are the laser ones! But that's what I use as well and does the job nicely.

It works ok but I find the plate on that one isn't quite right for the rear calipers

I've tried that one, worked fine for the front brakes on my Corrado and MK4 Golf.

However I tried it on the rear calipers of the Golf, and the piston would not wind back.. Ended up breaking the tool, and it's replacement...

Annoying, seeing as Halfords one I had to buy cost £30!!

 

Had to take the caliper off the car, put it on a bench and put force on the piston whilst winding it with a socket extension attached to the circular disc from the windback tool.

 

The same tool can be bought off ebay for about £8
