Christ someone is desperate. I would have said £200. Seriously though, how many people have barns with cars in, as they all seem to be a barn find 😂🤣 Vr6 on a G plate !! I'm all for people saving a car, but that one needs a miracle

I wonder what radiator is in it. The Vr6 one won’t fit in that slam panel.
Sams salvage will win it and he’ll try and make at least a grand over the winning bid by parting it out, with very reasonably priced spares in tip top condition.

It obviously hasn’t been in a barn for the last 7 to 8 years or it wouldn’t be so sun damaged. Does my nut in when they say barn find, it clearly hasn’t been stored away in a barn because someone can’t part with it, it’s a seriously neglected parts car that’s been stoved in.

Bet you its an AAA block in there too- its actually to far gone for a parts car if there is such thing ha !  Everytime you needed a spare off it would be damaged or incorrect part off another corrado or Mk3 golf .

A dog of a Corrado for sure. I hate the term "barn find" being used to imply a positive selling point and I also hate it being used when the car clearly hasn't been stored in a barn. That car has lived out in all weathers hence the pink paint and moss and crap all over it.

Ha Ha  Ithink you found its resting place.

On a brighter note anyone else think this rare Lorinser R107 is on the cool wall.

Seller has a Merc collection also has this rare beast for sale- I love these rare german Mercs that left the factory straight to the German tuning houses - that was AMG before they purchased them.

I love the brabus, as I could get plenty in the boot. The Lorinsor isn't my cup of tea,  but is cool. If I could sell lots of drugs and pimp out some prostitutes it would be the car for me to drive around and show off in 😊

I know what you mean but as they get old they start to look really classy in my eyes. The guy says getting rid of some of his cars would love to see what else he had.

These Mk1 golfs manufactured in till 2009 in the South African factory have always intrigued me. When the MK2 was released the VW factory decided it was too expensive to buy new tooling and carried on manufacturing the MK1 but changed the name to the MK1 Golf Citi- in the South African market . Really like the 1.8 citi R line which with a 1.8 - body kit and half leathers  rare but made a more common 1.8 . I think it would be fun to import one - they are very common S. Africa and have modern interiors etc from factory. They have four headlights at the front etc and are basically a modern MK1.

There used to be a couple of companies that specialised in importing them - there's a few here in Ireland. They need a little bit of extra work to make them street-legal.

IMHO it's all lovely until you see that they used the cheapest Skoda dash that they could get hold of! If I had one I wouldn't be able to sleep until I had retro-fitted a proper Mk1 or 2 dash in there.

Sure chap totally agree - they changed the interior in early 2000 s - I wonder if it would take an original MK1 dash. Have you seen one at a show mate in Ireland ? They only made 100 of the R line apparently and 150 of the 1.8 is .  I think for 6 grand they are a great investment car and would spin people out at shows which would be hilarious. .

Not sure if they were Rs - unlikely. Saw a couple at a show, but only from the outside, and a few more on the Irish VAG forum.  There was a classic Beetle restoration specialist who was already importing Beetles and buses from South America, and they also brought a few of these over from South Africa - I guess they had all the import stuff worked out already. I believe they weren't particularly cheap for what they are after shipping, taxes and import duties and retrofitting were taken into account.

It would be a great way though of getting hold of a nearly new Mk1 shell and chassis - you could put whatever engine you wanted in to it then.

I wouldn't bother getting one unless it was an R line (100 made) as the body kit- seats  and engine are cool - they use VW Motorsport 272 cams. Last one sold a year or two back for 6k in South Africa for a 1 in 100 car that it good money for the rarity - no dealt a great investment car and will really spin out MK1 owners ha ! I would change the back lights and possibly the dash- hardest thing would be getting hold of one and understanding the history and authenticity of the car purchased abroad- would have to put your trust in someone you never met.  There is a corrado owner in S. Africa on FB page.

i have seen a few citi golfs (not r line) for sale but they have needed resto work - usually inner wings for some reason and possibly not for our climate tbh.

vw are apparently considering a new version called the golf light - a budget golf aimed at countries like south africa

Sure they are basically a cheap Mk1 - but they only weigh 800 KG which sounds fun to me . - I would swop out the horrible rear lights and the dash -  also think an integrale rear boot spoiler would look ultra cool. but the body kit looks awesome on the R line IMO and is apparently the most powerful MK1 to come off the production line. The rear corner panel with the indent feature is actually to make the car stronger apparently.
