  1. Found out now after inspection that the exhaust itself is AOK. However, it's the gasket on the manifold. :( Cheap part, costly labour. Anyone know of any decent garages that'll - a) actually undertake the work b) not bend me over for the charges c) are in the south of england (preferably near guildford) Most places are whining that the studs will snap, or the manifold is probably cracked or whatever. Why do I always chase these things up on a Monday? Rah. Randal
  2. Awww go on, the thread will go mad again :D
  3. Ripspeed... nuff said. *sigh* another tragic chav.
  4. Eh up, Does anyone have a pic of either a) - Corrado wearing OZ superturismo's (preferably 16's) b) side on pic of said shoes, so I can photoshop my C. Thanks in advance Randal
  5. 2 today - gorgeous M plate VR6, gave me a wave as I trademark cheesy grinned and thumbed up - that was on heatherside, camberley near the golf course. Other one was a J plate valver, in Frimley just by the hospital. Don't think you saw, but your bird laughed her a$$ off....
  6. Spent the day washing and waxing the ol' girl - so whats the best thing to do next? Take her out for a rip! Nice warm, sunny day, fairly quiet roads - perfect. Until I hit the A3... ...had it in 2nd about 4-5K, pushed it up to 6 then changed into 3rd... Checked the rear view as I changed lane... ...smoke. Grey smoke, not loads of, but enough to get worried. Pulled it over into the services, and gave it a quick blip - little more smoke. :( Anyways, drove home sensibly checking temps - nothing out of the ordinary, 98-104 degress on the MFA and about 90 on the gauge. I'm thinking it might have been something just getting burnt up in the cyls. I've got a feeling my valve seals are on their way out, so this might explain it. I've also had wynn's hydraulic lifter cleaner in there for a while, and I've just topped up the oil. Don't think it's gonna be the head gasket based on the above - but does anyone have any ideas as to what else it might be? Thanks in advance randal
  7. Go on then, i'm interested now stevemac! mailto:[email protected] :D :D :D
  8. Good point gents, PUB! Ah pants, knew there was something missing too. Oh well, it's been so freakin busy today haven't realised! (well i say busy, I've configured a server, patched a network point and knackered a DLT drive - not to mention read/mailed 100's of people, read corrado forum religiously, and scoured the web for cheap exhausts/wheels) PRODUCTIVITY IS RIFE IN LONDON!
  9. Dude - me too! Much to boss man's disgust! Gotta admit, it's the best way I've found of passing the time (other than really working, but who in the hell wants to do that.) I feel like a kid trapped in a classroom on a summer's day everytime i walk into this place. corrado-forum is the proverbial fire bell in my other wise dull, monotonous day! :D
  10. Ahh so thats who you are, thought you might have been someone I knew for some reason. Silly yokel towns like Frimley have that effect on you after a while! Ta-ta
  11. Looks very fly, but I think it's a different shape/layout to the 16v one. It's going on the ramp tomorrow morning, going to find out what I need. I'm going with your first suggestion, GSFCarparts. Gonna keep things standard, fun stuff comes out to play when I get a G60. :D Thanks again
  12. If I had another half, she'd be here. But I haven't so... *waaaaaah*. Oh well, at least the wagon keeps me company. And the forum... ...who needs women anyway. Hello cold shower and long walk in the rain.
  13. Tax makes me mad. Says to me that we are paying for the government's budget shortfalls, by way of our hard earned (and already taxed to hell) earnings. I agree that there are needs for taxation, as revenues the government generates are not enough to sustain public services such as the NHS. But when you think of the various taxes in place... capital gains tax, inheritance, national insurance, car tax, council tax... ....to name a few. Now, look at the other ways that motorists are bled dry... speeding fines, tolls (this REALLY p*sses me off - WHAT THE HELL DO YOU PAY ROAD TAX FOR?), petrol tax (f'ck you 2 Jags). Coupled with astronomical insurance (and VW stealer prices) it's almost enough to make you sell your car and get a bike. (Did that, missed the car too much, bit the bullet and returned to being a tax whipping boy.) *sigh*
  14. stevemac - cheers for that. That is a MUCH better price. Apart from the >91 Cat for a G60 - 215 quid. :( Off to Twickenham on saturday morning! These stainless systems sound pretty damn fly tho, if I'm gonna replace the whole setup - might as well do it with a lifetime guarantee... ...and for not much more wonga than a whole standard kitout. Ah decisions decisions, I've still got a couple of other "to-do's" on my list however. So it might be bootstraps for the moment. Cheers for the advice all
  15. Meant to post this earlier, but work caught up with me and I forgot - but anyway... Been having a minor blowing noise on the C for a lil' bit, so I called around today for quotes on work. To say I'm shocked is a little bit of an understatement. I called a local place near me where I've always got tires/exhausts from (nothing fancy, just run-of-the-mill stuff). So anyway, long story short - they quoted me (for the parts they could obtain) something like 350 quid for the down pipe to backbox! Is this normal?! 135 quid for back box 120 for front section 40 for mid then there was another square shaped "cushion" (bless the doris) part which was only available from a stealer. With these prices in mind, am I better getting a stainless one? Or does anyone have any recommendations as to what I can do to get this sorted? Ideally, the cheaper the better at the moment as I'm just about to move out. :( Thanks in advance randal
  16. That's exactly what I thought, but these guys where pretty adamant that we didn't have anything to worry about. Not in the immediate future, not in 50 years either. I see what you are saying though, it's not an infinite resource - and the rate this planet is being pillaged you'd think it wouldn't be long before we all choked on what should have stayed underground! (but thank god it didn't, for obvious octane related reasons.) Linseed rape powered Corrado anyone? P.S - In case you hadn't guessed, I love a good theory (especially if it contradicts the normal flow of thought) - and this one really caught my ear.
  17. At the moment I'm working for Petro-Canada, but previously WesternGeco, then Western Geophysical. All coming under the Schlumberger umbrella. Spoke to the survey team, they reckon sometime next Tuesday for a survey. Vibrator truck might be a little overkill, so they were going to use controlled blasting caps instead. Hope you don't mind :D
  18. I can have one of the teams sent out if you want, do a survey. Nothing like a few good seismic rumbles from one of these bad boys to get the neighbours jumping.
  19. Yep, they are that. Probably a little more to do with a present climate in the middle east. Granted labour have something to do with it, but it's the whole world that's to blame! I work for an Oil Exploration company, and since being here I've turned up some interesting facts - 1. There is no shortage of oil, production is well within OPEC's boundries. So why the high price? 2. The price of crude by the barrel is nothing short of normal, say in comparision to 24 months ago. So why the high price? 3. Fluctuations in petrol prices are normally pushed down with tax increases etc... Notice how eager petrol companies are to hike prices at so much as a sniff of a tax rise. Notice how long it takes them to cut prices when tax drops/crude prices drop etc.. It really makes me laugh, we hear all this talk about fossil fuels running out. After talking to the Geophysics team over a beer, it's very interesting to hear: "If a reserve runs out, we drill deeper. We'll explore somewhere else, we'll drill there. Be it in the middle of the Antarctic, the deepest ocean, or the most remote mountain range. Oil companies have sh*tloads of money, just ready to sink into exploration - they WILL find the oil, and they WILL drill for it. Too much more money to be made to look at "alternative" fuels. Ooops, I drifted. :offtopic: About 79.9 round my way for regular. And 83.9 for BP Ultimate. No sign of a Shell for Optimax, unless I'm going to Guildford. Ta-ta
  20. well i won't be standing up for a while, tent well and truly pitched...
  21. :( Not meaning to sound morbid - but have you got a pic of the mount? Sorry to hear about the damage dude, especially in such perfect corrado driving conditions. Damn corrados... ...but how can we stay angry at them? :)
  22. lmao, oh yeah - some kinda subliminal trend goin on there.
  23. I knew there was a use for this photo... Perfect end to a sunny eve in West Wittering. 8)
  24. That really winds me up. Obviously insurance companies have got people over a barrel, but that is just taking the ****. I mean, c'mon guys - dropping £500 on a "say so" - WITHOUT verifying it? Rah. Just how much profit do these companies make? randal
