Bloody hell. Mate, that is un-beeeeeee-lievable. As for the screwdriver, I do hope you went mental about it. Man, that's poor workmanship. Anyways... ...back on topic. :D

Hmm interesting, I have a one block on a G plate 1.8 16v. Oh well, maybe I'll take it down to Motorworld see what they say  So, I'm guessing this wonder supplier isn't in the "Servicing and Suppliers" forum.... Ah well, for every good garage - there'll be a shedload of poopy ones. Just out of interest (sorry as it's waaaay :offtopic1: ) - but what was your 3 grand gonna buy you?

cool, any takers? Shouldn't be too difficult, I've only got one block with about 4 pins on it. Oh hang on, and 9 pins on a COM cable, that's a few permutations more than I can be bothered to try! Bummer. Actually, talking of pins - in the VAG-COM connector under the gearbox trim, I've only got a one block connection. But, when Phil showed me his (not a word) it had a 2 block connection... ...is this just another typical VW model change? Or did something fall off? (or breed on Phil's car) tia randal

Is it possible to make one of these cables? Don't fancy shelling out 160 quid + P&P Plus, with this in mind surely it's a case of just sending the right commands down with a terminal prog?
  5. not so, i enjoy sticking to the speed limit, taking thorough care of my engine through careful considerate driving. LMFAO. hell yeah, slap the red line - it's what it's there for. :D :D :D
  6. Hmmm that would stand to reason. Would guess tho, if getting syncro's replaced - might as well rebuild the whole box anyway. Ah nuts.
  7. I had a feeling someone was gonna mention gearbox rebuild... Ah well, thought everything was running too smoothly. Expensive things aside, whats involved in the cable adjustment? Whereabouts is it etc..? Plus, if worst comes to worst where is gonna be a good bet for either - a) getting the box rebuilt b) getting a 2nd hand box? Is it 1.8 16v specific, or would a 2l / G60 box suit? Tia randal
  8. Dude, am jealous. That looks awesome. I think I'm more jealous of the fact you have the facilities to actually do the work yourself. I miss my Dad's copius Snap-On tool chests and workshop gubbins. Congrats mate, good effort! :D
  9. Hello, More a minor niggle than anything, but if it's the start of something bigger I want to nip it in the bud. Sometimes when I'm changing from 2nd to 3rd after booting it (say about 6K), I sometimes get a god almighty crunch. Which I can also feel from the gearstick. I thought it might be the linkage rods being in a funny position at first, but the more and more I think about it - the more methinks it something serious. Anyone had/seen similar probs before? Thanks in advance randal
  10. Louise Redknapp... ...oh yes... Beyonce... ...oh yes... aaaand Amy Smart (Road Trip - film, not long distance passengery). Might have to take the middle rest out of the rear seats so I can cram Kylie in!
  11. Ah reminds me of good ol' Gran Turismo, couldn't beat that car. Unless you got the F1...

  19. Hello All, Just wondering if it's possible to swap the early spec console, for the later spec one with the 2 lcd displays? Is it possible to set the mileage manually on the new console to what the old console read? Ta randal
  20. I think we have a group buy on the cards.... :D Just outta interest, what does this special tool look like? Got me wondering, especially when you say it can be replaced with a hammer and chisel! Thanks for the advice all, spot on again. randal
  21. The more and more I look at the wagon, the more and more I think it looks like it's sitting too high. So, in the spirit of ritual credit card abuse I'm gonna do something about it. I think the shocks on there will take the lower springs, so i'm thinking about doing a 30-35mm drop. How much work is involved in taking the old springs off and sticking a set of Eibachs on there instead? I've read a lotta people think the coilovers are the faaaar better way to go, but me needs other toys too :) TIA randal
  22. dammit it thought this thread was gonna be powered by sticky - not a thread powering it's way to stickyness!
  23. Hey Mr Mod, can we get a sticky? cheers randal
