Just saw the price on those bad boys. Worth every penny though, get in there - the wife will never know... honest

When everyone earns enough money to be able to afford it! Price of petrol right now is hideous. I paid 97.9 at Gatwick today for super, wouldn't have normally bothered - but I coasted in on fumes. Fecking unreal. I disappear for 3 weeks and petrol jumps up 10p. Still good to know the war, terrorism and mindless killing is worth something to someone I suppose :(

Aaaaaah I didn't know, still - do now!

Arn't they the ones from Chris VR6nosky's avatar on the Japspeed thingie? Thought they were called BBS Le Man's? Either way, wood inducing rims - very nice. 8)

Engine, gearbox, radiator, driveshafts, hubs, brakes, arms, rack, ecu and clock, bonnet... ...possibly fuel pump too... ...I think that's about it. Someone more enlightened could probably list more. :) edit - after reading that post, think you're better off believing that than me

Come in 'ere giving it all this about this about old school mopeds! Sorry, couldn't resist. :D

I probably would too in fairness, alarms are an arse. Didn't know if you wanted to have a crack though. Whereabouts in Surrey are you btw?
-
Do you hear the pump priming on ignition turn? Welcome to the forum btw :)

I whole heartedly recommend him, he's done a bang up job on mine and my mate's Mum's car (reason I say "car" - it's an escort cab :pukeleft: )in the last couple of weeks and the jobs done on both are spot on. Drop me a line when yer ready and I'll send you his details. 8)

If it looks half as good as it sounded, then bliiiiimey. :D Glad it's all coming together for you, I know it's been a hard slog - but it certainly sounds like it's worth it. Looking forward to seeing it in the metal 8)

Cheers y'all damn freakin' texans rubbing off on me! Been trying to get hold of you for a bit Kettski - where you been?
-
You can have em! They totally and utterly ming, beyond belief! Corroded, scuffed, dented, funny colours - they've seen better days. Had toyed with refurbing them at one point to keep everything OE. They've got to go though! Thanks for your comments guys, means a lot. :D

Moooooooooo! Myth busters is a great program, watched a lot of it while in the US. The one where they do the exploding scuba tank from Jaws was pretty cool, and the faux-house getting struck by faux-lightning was sweet. Reckon you could get a cow in this without much hassle :D Dunno if the cow would be willing, and I for one wouldn't want to argue with it. Just ask nicely and you might be surprised at the outcome...

VAG Parts will tell you that over the phone if you need (if someone with ETKA doesn't show up). Or the GSF website. :)

A good garage for service and clutch Surry/Herts area
randal replied to timmyhol's topic in Suppliers Forum
What car is it mate? Clutches are around the 100 quid mark from GSF, unless you take the Sachs one which is 145+vat. I'd say about 4-5 hours labour to get that done. Dunno what garages charge these days, tend to avoid like the plague in favour of getting grubby :D If you want additional work done, it might be worth taking a trip to one of the guys on the South Coast. Darren (g-man), or John Mitchell (16VG60) would be a good places start. I've had dealings with John in the past, and can say he's a good guy and very knowledgable. HTH -
Ow, bummer mate. Well hopefully the guys up there can get things running with a minimum of fuss for you. One thing that could be fun - get them to do a power run, see what improvements your head work have gained. Would be interested to see that. 8)

How come she's booked in? Everything running OK with the engine after the head swap?
-
Is that true? I thought that was an urban myth?

Cheers Gents, she's getting there slowly! need to show my face at a meet, long overdue. I want to come to E38, but I should be about before then. :afro:

Or this stuff http://www.h-e-d.co.uk/debJizer.htm Has a funny name too. :D

There'll be a wire that runs a pulse from the alarm brain to the CL circuit, I'd start there and trace back. Get a multimeter on it when you press the button, should read a voltage.

Thanks :D It's been festering for a bit, and it's been depressing me more and more to look at the dents and scratches - so enough was enough! I'm so pleased with the results, words can't say. I called up John, the guy who took care of this while I was away and woke him up! Think my brain was still GMT -6, and hadn't clicked it was 10.30am on a Sunday - still he was happy that I was happy  Mucho beers for that man :drinking:

Got home from the States today after a 3 week training stint which seemed to drag on and on and on... ..anyway, returned home to find the rado had returned from it's stint in the bodyshop with the following done: *Door and wing sprayed to match car following M25 accident *O/S rear quarter repaired *Bubble rust spot on O/S rear arch taken care of *Sills sprayed on both sides *Parking dent from previous owner on N/S rear arch taken care of *Essentially both sides of the car sprayed - no more scratches, shopping trolley dents, dodgy blow overs and botched repairs - all done properly! *Moudlings removed and I had planned to replace them with the set sourced, however the looks without has grown on me no end. Am so pleased with the results, I've got more wood. On top of all of that, I got my Passat handles colour coded to match - so chuffed! Oh, and I've now more or less got everything I need for my engine build too. Get in :D
