  1. Hi Tartan Judge, I would be interested to know the details of any upgraded loom you use with the HID kit because I couldn't get my loom liked by the kit. Having 'tested' the setup I have had about 1/4 of drivers flash me - I think I need to lower the angle of the headlight due to the high intensity light. The other thing is that I regret not getting a Bi-xenon setup. I found that once my eyes had adjusted to the bright low beam, flicking into high beam was like switching the lights off!! The high beam is now complete pants!! especially without the upgraded loom. Let us know how you get on anyway....
  2. Thanks, Mystic for clearing that up - as for using an uprated loom - the one I had on there wouldnt allow the HID kit to work - maybe due to the fuses break point??? I dont know ---any ideas?
  3. Hi folks - I finally decided to make the most of my Inpros and install a HID kit. There are so many kits out there, and I'm no professional so I decided to go for the Bosch kit - seeing as the car is full of Bosch bits anyway and I thought german-german compatibility. I got the kit off ebay - some guy selling them from China- but the kit is stamped 'made in Germany@??? Anyway if you do go for one- make him a low offer - I got mine for £15 less than his asking price. The kit looked pretty good quality with excellent connectors and the ballasts too. You have to cut a 30mm hole in the back of the twist cap to get the bulbs in (H7 remember!) . I used some silicone sealant to try and preserve the chamber containing the bulb unit. Otherwise its a very easy install taking less than an hour. It took me a bit longer because I had to remove Gavin's headlight loom because the kit won't work with it. That'll be finding its way onto ebay later The difference is absolutely amazing. I would say about 10x better. Looks fantastic as well. A couple of points: The lights wont come on unless the engine is on - if the key is in accessory position they flicker on then off after a couple of minutes - battery issues maybe? They flicker into action - a bit like a fluorescent light and then slowly get brighter changing colour as they go. Mine are the 6000K - a good balance between brightness and bling I supposed. Went for a drive - kept expecting everyone to flash me but no-one did. The road signs were reflecting back and you could see for a few hundred yards!! And that was with street lamps! Its early days obviously, but i am well delighted - recommended to anyone with Inpros to make the most of the projector lens. I'm not sure what the effect is with the original headlights - I would have thought the reflector housing and the lens might cause problems - but maybe someone on her has done it. See the pics - but its impossible to effectively demonstrate the difference with photos for obvious reasons.
  4. AAAAhhh By George I think you've got it! An External Driver Circuit.!! Whats one of those by the way? Can I get one ready made from Maplin or does it have to be made up? cheers matey
  5. Theyve definately got the driver built in - and two terminal ends :?:
  6. Hi coolrado, thanks for the reply I knew there would be an expert around sooner or later. Its a 12VDC - I have several flat round things - some are supposed to buzz some are supposed to chime. Most were bought from Maplins. However simply applying 12V to them only results in crackles. Is there supposed to be some sort of additional circuitry or maybe a cone funnel or something attached to the thing? Many thanks
  7. thanks yalan, so where do I manufacture a signal?
  8. OK folks, can someone explain piezo-electric sounders/buzzers to me? I have several flat round 12v alarm buzzers but when connected directly up to the 12V power source all I get is a crackling - so what am I doing wrong????? Is there some wee magic box of sprites that I need to connect in betwixt the power and the buzzer?
  9. cheers lads - I'll have another look @ the weekend. I'm terrified of dropping that Corrado fusepanel simply because of the absolute mess behind it.
  10. CazzaVR, is yours working normally now? If so, where did this blue plug go? Was it into the back of a relay at the top of the fusepanel. This relay has a yellow 20A fuse in the front which controls the electric windows.
  11. Hi , still havent sorted my problem out yet! Where did you find this white/blue wire? I looked behind the fuse panel right at the top, where a solitary 20A fuse sits in a relay. Behind this relay there are 3 plugs all with blue or blue/white wires going out of them. When you say you followed the wires back, where from? The clocks loom, spoiler control module, or the fuse panel?
  12. what did yoou use Neil, apart from a lot of elbow grease! the shocks I mean
  13. Its good to see (and share ) the efforts of a good clean and polish. Really makes a difference to the value of the car. I made an extra £1000 on my Cooper after spending 8 hours on a deep valet - the dealer couldn't believe how immaculate it was! Result was an extra 1K on the trade in values I had gotten earlier from several different dealers. Well done
  14. what a fantastic story! And such gorgeous looking cars - who'd like the job of going through those and getting rid of that dust? Its a lifetime job for a very lucky person. I hope these cars are treated appropriately...
  15. Rob, my fuseboard is an absolute mess so I wouldn't be surprised if there's something dodgy going on there - So I follow the wire out of the spoiler control module to the fuseboard - whereabouts on the fuseboard is its supposed to go?
  16. they did the magnex on my corrado in 2003 under new management - I'm not too happy with the fitting though - Id been with a different Storm back in 98 and talked to Tim Stiles for ages, he infected me with his enthusiasm. None of this the second time, and I suspect there's a join leak on the exhaust.
  17. Look at that face of joy.....and which footwell is hubby in?
  18. More potential projects!
  19. Here we have an example of that Great British Character - that 'let's see what I can do' spirit. We have a small scale version of the Veyron project going on in Sheffield  Good Luck to you and please keep us updated!
  20. In summary the VR clocks are different to the the others with respect to the transistor - removing the transistor on the VR clocks will disable the speedo (found out the hard way). Luckily Mr Beige did his electronic wizardry stuff and repaired the clocks, but we now know that the transistor is not the problem in the VR at least. I'm still stuck without the spoiler at speed and I will probably start again when it gets warmer.

  23. Anyone done this mod? I believe you use a skoda fabia rear wiper but I'm not sure about the length-ie is it too short to cover the massive rear screen My wiper is dead, and Ive never liked the look of it but want to retain the wiper function. I thought about doing the aero mod but how do you get round the washerfluid jet? Take a look at the picture and let me know what you think
