Yep Kev, missed that one - updated the first post accordingly

OK this will be of relevance to people whose spoiler works on via the switch - ie Non automatically I have trawled through every post looking for an answer to why the spoiler won't activate at speed but will work manually. Having checked: 1.Fuses 2.Switch 3.Controller box (thanks Nikki) 4.Gearbox VSS 5.Blue wire out of the stereo loom for speed sens volume (must be disconnected ) If all the above have been checked and the problem persists - whats going on? The only thing I have discovered is what Mr Beige (don't know if he is still on here) touched upon - ie a transistor located somewhere on the clocks circuit board This would fit in with another post who solved his problem by replacing the clocks. SO - Anyone got any information on this mysterious transistor's exact location?
-
Mr Beige, did you ever take a pic of the offending transistor - any clues as to where it might be found?
-
wouldn't make a blind bit of difference at real world speeds....

Anyone got any pics of the new car? VAG have told me that its definately going to be called Scirocco. The only pics I could find are here- but I hope they are more concept than reality - looks plain at the rear! http://www.circa1973.net/bossanova/?p=554

No - tell me more = do you mean the ignition barrel? where's the ignition switch and how much is? Cheers

Hi RW1, tried the WD40 trick but it didnt work. The reader coil doesnt work either (not sure if I needed to do an ECU reset though) I have just acquired a (used) transponder box and am waiting for that. Am I correct in assuming that some coding will be necessary now?
-
thanks Kev - do my keys need to be recoded to a new reader coil? Anyone got a part number for the reader coil?
-
Well the relay is seated properly so unless its failed .... KIPVW, there's two cables going to the box - a 3 pin one and a 6 pin pin one. Which is the transponder cable? Ive got VAG-COM - would that help or just give a nonspec fault code?
-
I'LL check that one Ice White Socks, cheers

Hi all I thought that my problem was the ignition/transponder box behind the dash but after reading a few threads I'm not so sure. Problem was initially intermittent but now permanent. Car fires up and cuts out immediately - I used to get by by thumping the dash in the region of the box but now that wont work If I get a replacement box will it just plug and play or does it have to be recoded to the key/ignition barrel? Cheers

I think the front end has suffered most as far as the car looking dated is concerned

interesting, I replaced the fronts with Brembo discs and pads and did a MK4 conversion an the rear using MK4 discs and pads. Ive had squealing from the front from day one especially when turning right -I had hoped this was early wingeing from the offside bearing but I think I'll check out the pads and discs Is there a definitive test for warped discs?
-
probably due to the w+*++ers that steal the storm badges

I can only see one pic
