Kev, it seems like 2000rpm is pathognomic of fuel injector problems...hesitancy and a hiccough same as mine. This seems to be a common problem and we've all been through the plugs-leads-fuelfilter-coilpack without joy. I hope this cures the problem though. If I could get the injectors direct from Bosch I would...but don't they need to be mapped prior to installation or are we talking 'plug and play'?
-
Hi all just a quick question - I've been quoted a labour charge of 150+VAT for three hours work to remove the injectors and to refit (NOT TO CLEAN) Is this a realistic time frame for this? How easy is it to remove the injectors yourself on a VR6? cheers

Might have got caught speeding... A3 in Surrey crack down

I must admit to caning it down the stretch from the M25 down to Guildford on a regular basis  I can guess why there's been a crackdown though.......there's been four accidents on just that stretch of road in the last 2 weeks......2 of which I spent a long time queuing as a result. The problem is usually the northbound stretch where the limit goes from 50 - 70 as you leave Guildford.......... Here's hoping I don't get a letter through the post soon :nono: -
Anyone know of anyone in the South who they can recommend do do this at a reasonable cost. I presume its something that should be left to the professionals? cheers
-
hi folks - if anyones got one of these spare I would be grateful. bought a plastic one from the stealers which lasted for one sparkplug removing session!! thus the need for a metal one cheers

just changed my fuel filter after months of hesitation and 'misfire' at 2000rpm.......I am surprised how it has resolved a multitude of problems. Fairly starightforward apart from getting a faceful of fuel   Pics below but be careful if you decide to butcher your old filter like I did- you don't want to be sending sparks into this petrol soaked mess

excuse the naiviety, but what sort of preparation is involved in a professional respray...I mean do they strip the old paint off first or just sand down and spray over? Does this add to the weight of the vehicle?

surely no one else is as mad as Storm to undertake this? I thought it would overtake LUPO WIPER MOD within a few weeks actually
-
don't get disheartened now   In the end of the day its all about personal taste and if that's the way you like your C and it makes you happy then none of this matters really 8)

Where's the best showroom for alloy wheels and what size?

you can't go wrong with BBS  -
my C is a 96 car and has had 3 owners including me and has had private reg since new - don't know if this means its been well looked after though :!: But looking through the receipts - the previous owner has been fleeced to the tune of £1000 in unecessary repairs/replacements - including repairing parts and charging for them as new, charging 3 hours labour to change a relay. All done by a friendly local official VAG dealer

good work mate! :) Dinkus - you gonna shift this over to 'how to' ?
-
the good thing is that you've kept it totally original

I can only echo the comments referring to the amount of effort and expense that must have gone into the car, but judging by your opening comments, you are aware that this forum is generally quite conservative when it comes to body mods. I would agree ( without being nasty) that maybe you've gone a tad overboard on the exterior aspect of things...specifically the front and back look like they've crashed through a demon tweeks warehouse and come out the other end with bits stuck to it......but I can't fault your mechanical changes and the interior....well is on the interior.....so less likely to be seen anyway. The Golf looks less 'tinkered' with although you can see how much effort you've put into that as well. Sorry if this sounds negative, but in all fairness you can't put up the car on the forum and ask for compliments only :) :)

Agreed. Although I'm pissed with VW for selling something that cant be rebored and have just bigger rings put in. wasn'r the VR6 bored out to 2.9 from 2.8 by VW?
