Avoid ORPINGTON CAR STEREO in Poole - car went in for a clifford concept 500 and came back to me six late via VW stealership workshop. The alarm fitters couldnt get the car started. And I'm still getting false alarms!!

joebloggsVR69, whats the ride like on the Konig Silverline-X. I don't really want to compromise the ride too much for the sake of my spine sadly...

Jay, I don't know if you know but Castlepoint has collapsed and is now shut indefinately - means I cant get my PVW as the only place I could find it was the WHS! -
Anyone had any experience of these? (henny / kev?) I understand they require an 12V inverter (AC-->DC). I was thinking about brightening up the dim green dash switches and heater panel. I understand that LEDs have been used in the past but IMHO they simply don't provide a diffuse enough light scatter.

I thought this weeks instalment was FANTASTIC the best so far - both lap charts topped and 3 great 10K supercars. The film of May racing that cyclist was great. Ellen MacArthur topping the board eh? Although when she stood up she reached the height of Clarksons waist so she had an advantage there. What amma gonna do when this series ends????

I took mine down to the Stealers and they wanted 500 quid for a full felt-tip respray...

A true driving car that one....and I'm sure your mum will be pleased you got something to enjoy as well as being 'sensible'!
-
I quite like it - muscular and definately coupe styling....looks how the new Corrado should . WHY are VW refusing to enter this arena...?
-
Very informative oilman, Its good to have someone on here with a sound technical know how and who obviously enjoys the field in which he works.....can you imagine going to a VW parts desk and asking about long molecular chain shearing and viscosity indices? Come to think of it you'd be lucky if they can produce 5L of anything except hot air

SO, oilman, what sort of deals are you doing on this lube? If I wanted to be adventurous and try it out? How does the price compare to Magnatec (currently using)?

No one is gonna own up to that one! -
TBH Kev, you could probably get away with inching the bracket forward a couple of inches but it depends on how you sit in the car. I like my seat all the way down and quite far back and I sited the bracket with this in mind. For my seating position its perfect having trialled it for a few days. Ive also wired it up to a cradle inside that will recharge the phone. I've got a Sony Ericcson bluetooth setup going in the car so now its completely handsfree and chargeable without an ugly cradle screwed to the dash.

Those 'people carrier' mPv machines are the worst culprits when stationary and when in motion. The Missus takes it to the supermarket and dings as many doors as she can. As for when hubbys driving it, on the way to the motherin law's, ever noticed how the one caning it up behind you is either the WVM or middleaged, unhappywithhislife, fortysomething with three thousand kids in the back driving like a maniac. Why doesn't he pull over and take a good look around what he's driving and then adjust his driving style to suit?

the pic below shows the main bracket with three holes. In the MKIV golf and bora two of these were aligned with the handbrake bolt holes. However no such luck with the C! you have to alingn the bracket slightly posteriorly to the handbrake fixing and get a secure position to mark out your drill holes. Once the main bracket is on the rest is relatively straightforward...case of trimming the plastics to refit. As with things like this..planning the cuts and taking your time will yield the closest to the 'factory look'..good luck!

The armrest has been bolted to the chassis under the centre 'tranny tunnel' When fully down there's still quite a clearance from the handbrake...see last photo benkenobi57, got the armrest from some guy on ebay - there's some available in black leather for around 50 quid new

YEAH what the hell are all you boys doing at the supermarket anyway? Bloody Nora times are a changing aren't they? God made the original Saturday Male Timetable so we wouldn't have to worry about our paintwork: 8.00 am move over to the middle of the bed as the missus wakes up(CAR IN GARAGE) 11.30am wake up and bimble about for an hour (CAR IN GARAGE) 12.30am Greasy Spoon remedy for the night before (CAR IN GARAGE) 1.30pm settle down at the pub to watch footy/cricket/darts/snooker/ barmaid.(CAR IN GARAGE) 4.45pm results and get your money down on the pool table (CAR IN GARAGE) 7.00 Sufficiently w**nkered to head off into town (CAR IN GARAGE) 3.30am sleeeepy sleep time (YOU AND CAR IN GARAGE) At no time is the car at risk Come on lads ---stay away from Asdaburys..Tescofeway...we don't BELONG there!

I don't know how many of you finally got round to doing this one but here's my effort. Bracket needed three holes drilling into chassis to get asolid mount. Colour difference is not discernable despite the flash!

i feel another mod coming on............. -
I recently took back a oil filter removal tool made by Halfords - some of the cast iron casing chipped off whilst I tried to get the bugger of a filter off the C. Took it back and the numpty at the till (must have been a Mcdonalds graduate) reckoned he couldnt take it back cos I didnt have a receipt! I calmly pointed out that it had 'Halfords' embossed into it before he finally relented! Hazet tools are good - and the ones VW are supplied with I believe
-
think this is genuine?

55 quid on GPC plus postage I suppose...Im in the same boat as you Andy, it bothers me to pay for a whole new unit when all I need is the glass. That numpty selling them for $77 on ebay must be sourcing them from Bosch in Germany.....we need to know where exactly......maybe Stevemac from GSF could ring their Bosch supplier and find out....?
