  1. The car's ECU should be the same as a manual. Autos have their own separate ECU for the gearbox. Storm's writeup will give you an idea of what's involved. http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... highlight= As G60Jet says, look for a crashed late VR and take the front end of it.
  2. Update, gauges are now in and wired up. As Henny said, the wiring is as follows.. G. Druck = Pressure 15 = ignition live 31 = earth 58 = lighting Took the earth and lighting from the ashtray feed. Spliced into the ignition wire for the voltmeter feed. The interior light from a Mk3 Golf has a proper multiplug for the back of the gauges. Free from your local scrappies ;) I've run a wire for the pressure sender through the bulkhead where the bonnet release cable goes. Fitting the sender looks like a nightmare, the radiator and fans are in the way. So I'll get my mechanic to do it. Can't stop fiddling with switches watching how much power they use! Heated seats seem the most hungry!
  3. Thanks chaps. Not so keen on the heater controls. Bit too bling for me. Trimsport told me the Mk3 door handles wouldn't fit :( Anyone recommend a cheap supplier for Momo stuff?
  4. Yup. It's fuse No. 3 Thanks guys!
  5. Ok. On my last Corrado ('91 16v) I had black leather, black carpet, black dash. Made it a bit dull so I brightened it up with chrome handbrake cover, gearknob, door handles and door lock pins. Nothing Chavy. :) All from Trimsport. Quite fancy doing the same to my VR6. Gearknob's sorted. Reiger Illuminated Shifter and Boot Anyone know where I can get chromed interior door handles? Which handbrake handles fit? Who sells nice looking door pins. I'm going to get a nice Momo wheel but unsure of which one to go for? I'll be fitting a Snap Off boss. Are these easy enough to fit?
  6. Bit wary of fiddling with such things after this happened! http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... 116#219116
  7. Ok, Davebirl has just spoken to me on the phone. He asked me if the rear number plate lights were also dead. Sure enough, they were! (hadn't noticed) The same fuse covers the dash and number plate lights (crazy Germans) So all I've to do is track it down in the morning and replace it. I'm so happy!   Thanks Dave! :afro: Owe ya a pint of the Black Stuff!
  8. Looks like I'm the guinea pig then! :) I'll post up pictures once it's fitted. Any Ideas in where I can take a feed for the illumination from? Preferably something that only comes on with the headlights.
  9. No tried the dimmer. Not a loose connection either. It's definately something blown or fried in there. Other than the fuse and the dimmer. What controls the interior lights. Is there a relay in the fuse box for them? Need to get this sorted ASAP as I can't tell what speed I'm doing when driving at night! :( :(
  10. Right. Numpty Time   Finally got round to attempting to wire up my Centre Console Gauges today. Removed ashtray and cigarette lighter. Used a tester to find the switched live on the lighter and ashtray multiplugs which works off the headlight switch. All working fine, tester lit up when I turned the headlight switch on. Wired the Ground from the ashtray connector to the "Druck" connection on the back of the gauge pod. Then tried the live connection on the other pins. I had thought "Druck" meant earth, later found out it was Pressure! Doh. As a result, none of my dash illuminaton is working. Gauges, Heater controls, ashtray, lighter all in darkness. MFA and clock work, just don't light up. Warning lights for handbrake, ABS etc all work. Interior and boot light work fine and the electric window, mirror and headlight switches still illuminate. I've checked Fuse 21, which is for Interior Illumination, it's ok. It's not the bulbs either as I tried a spare in the heater controls and ashtray. I must have damaged something major! Can anyone PLEASE help!!
  11. Gonna have to post in the problems section about my lights :(
  12. If we look at a picture of the back.. The labels below the connector say G. Druck (pressure) KL15+12v (dunno, ignition live?) KL. 31 (????) KL.58+ Bel. (????)
  13. Right I've tried wiring mine up. What a mess! I've managed to break the dashboard lights! When I started everything was fine. Now none of the dash lights up! Haven't stripped any cables, just prodded a signal tester into the connectors for the ashtray and lighter. Fuse 21 is ok and the main interior light works fine. What have I broken!??
  14. All you really need is a Dual Pole sender. (recommended especially for the VR instead of a T-Piece and extra sender) They're £47 delivered from here http://www.streetstyleandpower.com/publ ... adPage/206 VDO Part No. V360023 Then you just need a few screws to secure the gauges and someone good with electrics.

    Alarm Help

Show us your remote Big Lad and we'll work it out! Failing that, give Scorpion Alarms a call. Details here.. http://www.scorpionalarms.com
  16. Or one of these from the States... http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20863
  17. Spotted these while trawling through the Vortex classifieds section. Clicky Available in the following combinations of illumination and stitching... Red 5 spd Black/stitch for Corrado Blue 5 spd Black/stitch for Corrado Green 5 spd Black/stitch for Corrado Green 5 spd w/Red stitch for Corrado Red 5 spd w/Red stitch for Corrado With every shift knob you get a 2 (two) year warranty on electric parts and 1 (one) year on the rest. However, you can't abuse the knob and ask for a new one. The warranty on electric parts is obvious (if the bulb burns out within 2 years), and warranty on the rest is for things like the chrome ring around the boot or on the top getting loose. I've just ordered one. Came to £54 including shipping to the UK. Fitting instructions can be found here.. http://bolsen.homeip.net/knobinstall.html And here.. http://vwroadtrip.peterbeers.n...l.htm
  18. VW produced a "Gauge Panel" for 1.8 16v and G60. They were available until around 18 months ago now obselete. I have one if anyone is interested in making a mold from it to run off some more?

    OBD1 or OBD2

Yes it will fit the engine as its ODB1 only the connector is ODB2. Confusing isn't it

    OBD1 or OBD2

Mine has the larger "scart type" connector. But it's a '95 VR6. I'm confused :?
  21. Yo neillo. Nice to see someone else in Bangor has taste! £4k hmmm.... Well firstly, set aside £600 for an "emergency fund" for those little unexpected things that let go. :) Assuming you're buying a standard unmodified example. 1) Handling - £500 for springs/shocks, £6-700 for new wheels and tyres. May as well get all the suspension bushes and top mounts done while you're in there £150? plus couple of hundred labour. 2) Performance - £350 for a miltek stainless system and de-cat. - £160 for a Carbonio or BMC induction kit. (not much gain but sound sublime) - Uprated discs and pads all round £210 - (instead of induction kit) VF Engineering Stage 2 Supercharger Kit with all the extras! http://www.vf-engineering.com/vw_corrado.htm Don't forget to budget around £250 for a FULL service and all fluids change as soon as you get it. Always worth it for piece of mind. Give me a shout on 07867 536140 if you want to meet up.
  22. Or disconnect it like the fecker I bought my car from!

    car valeters

PM John Wintle for details, maybe even a GB. It's not a Swissol product per se. One of the guys that develops their products used to be Wax Wizard and he still does MC2 as a side line. Valeters in Birmingham?? :D

    car valeters

I give the inside and outside of my BBS rims a good scrub down and a coat of Mcguirs every 4 months. In between times dirt just flies off them as soon as the hose hits them. If they're really bad I use MC2 but it's hard to beat soap, water and an old sponge. Now, what about valeters in Birmingham for this man! :D
