  1. That's all well and good Kev. But in the real world where parts can be had cheap from E-Bay or breakers. What is actually required to fix this problem and how much work is involved? Is it just a matter of cannibalising a good sunroof from a wrecked C? Will the sunroof repair kit from VW sort this problem? Glad someone technical has replied as this thread was in danger of going off topic with all this talk of indian red bonnets and what-not! :)
  2. No conclusive answer then on the old "tilt but no slide" poser. It's putting me off buying cars that are otherwise fine because I think it's an expensive fix. Keep posting guys. I'd love to be proved wrong!
  3. I've owned 3 Corrado's so far and never had any bother with sunroofs. Lately it seems every second hand Corrado has a sunroof that "tilt's but doesn't slide" what's the deal with this? Have I just been lucky or is there some kind of crazy fun to be had from a sunroof that leads to it breaking!? :) How many of my fellow Forum posters are suffering from the Tilt no Slide syndrome? What's the fix? Is it as cheap and easy as the sellers claim? Thanks a dazed and confused MikeVR6
  4. No apology necessary. Read further up my thread and you'll see the link to it. Go onto their Forum from there. Strange name for a site I know. :)
  5. Yup, Honest John has it in one. A quick post on the Pepipoo forum would have got you the same response. It's not up to your Dad to keep a log of everyone that drives his car. If he can prove he's done everything in his power to ascertain who was driving the car at the time and still drawn a blank then the courts should be satisfied. Tell him to look through his records for petrol receipts/claims from that day. If he finds one, he can write a letter to the filling station asking for a copy of their forecourt camera video for that day. They'll either not respond or tell him to clear off. He can then present copies of this correspondance as evidence of his efforts. From my own experience.... 9 times out of 10 if you send back a NIP that requires further investigation or paperwork from the cops, they won't pursue it. They issue such a high volume of these things and get enough responses from people accepting points and a fine that they simply can't be arsed with ones that cause hassle. Happy driving! :)
  6. Whatever you do, don't send that NIP back! Checkout the Forum on http://www.pepipoo.com Quite a few legal experts on there to reply to your post. I've managed to get out of points twice now ;)
  7. Most folk on here seem to agree on precisely that. Go to VW for an oil change every 10k. They'll charge you around £100 just for that! In between take it to a specialist for anything else it needs and 5k oil changes.
  8. Hi Karmann I don't have any pictures (haven't wired in the illumination yet, another job on the "to-do" list) :) However, I can tell you that combined with a good Momo steering wheel it smartens up the interior nicely. It also works very well with one of Daves16v's Quickshift kits.
  9. You'd be susprised how accident prone young offenders can be whilst in Police custody. ;)
  10. Looks to me like it was break fluid mate. Or possibly Nitromorse. Had a similar thing happen to my first car, a £15k Xsara VTR, many years ago. I knew exactly who'd been involved as I'd had a fallout with a local chap over something very trivial. Spineless bastid couldn't sort the issue out to my face. So he left a carrier bag full of brake fluid on my roof. What had been a relatively minor fallout became war! His car mysteriously caught fire in his driveway one night a few months later and he was paid a visit by some "connected" friends of mine and told that was the end of it! Took a while to get the petrol fumes out of my clothes. ;) Not that I condone such action now as a mature 28 year old. But when someone attacks your family, property or person you have every right to defend it. My dad was a policeman for 23 years and he constantly laments on how hard it is to catch little scumbags like this. On the few occassions they were caught, they were often very clumsy and tripped on the pavement or fell down the stairs at the station.
  11. You're looking for the "MASK key". My last Kenwood system used this. The keyfob is unique and matched to your headunit. You point it at the headunit and press the button on the fob. It uses the Infra Red port to send the MASK code to the stereo. I was told when I bought the unit to keep the MASK Key safe as a new one is £80. The new Kenwood MASK headunits are uniquely matched with their detachable faceplates in the same way.
  12. I had pre-empted my door handles breaking and had one of Dave's kits sitting in the garage. My driver's handle finally broke yesterday! :) Thanks to the handy instructions, I had the replacement fitted within 15 mins. No injuries either! :) Great job, far more robust that the original tin thing! I recommend that anyone with a Corrado do the same and order a kit today. Almost as essential as a spare wheel! Cheers Dave! 8)
  13. You'd be crazy to miss a good offer on an 8v. They're bound to be the hardest model to sell. This is business and there's no room for emotions. I do know what you mean about emotional attachment though, I cried when I sold my 16v C. :( However, those tears of sorrow were soon replaced by tears of joy when I bought my VR6 and drove it 400+ miles home. Take the offer while it's there and feel safe in the knowledge that it's going to someone that will love it too. Keep in touch with its new owners too. I rejected two larger offers from Chavs on my valver for a smaller offer from Belfastfumanchu because I knew he planned to dry store it and only use it in the summer. Be ruthless, take the money and buy a VR6 or G60. There's plenty of good ones on here for sale at the moment. Just take your time and don't let the money burn a hole in your pocket. You'll not look back. Oh, definately marry your girlfriend. She sounds pretty cool! 8)
  14. G60 Bob My mate in Donaghadee has three Corrado's breaking. Give me a call on 07867536140 and we'll discuss.
  15. Just gave my leather the full Gliptone treatment. Jeysus it stinks! I've had to put two Neutradols in the car to tone down the leather aroma. Good stuff though. Amazed at how much dirt came out of my supposedly clean seats. The Swissol stuff will no doubt be equally as good and I bet it smells lovely (mmm coconut) Bet it's not a tenner though ;)
  16. I've used the Meguires leather cleaner and conditioner for the last two years. Both can be bought from http://www.speeding.co.uk free delivery. I've also heard good things about Gliptone Liquid Leather. Apparently its excellent for restoring and cleaning. I've just bought a pack from E-Bay but haven't used it yet. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 59146&rd=1 Hope this helps
  17. I have a Laserline 998 on mine and I've had no problems. It's been set to activate the car's built-in total closure, which is nice. Nice and simple alarm and Thatcham Category 1 to keep the insurance happy.

    Rear Sunblind

Found one of these for sale. Allegedly from a G60. Looks a little suspect to me, almost as though it's upsidedown. The support straps would lead me to believe differently though. What do you think?
  19. No fair! :( I wanna see his girlfriend again ;)
  20. Bridgestone Potenza RE720 's I had Toyo's before on my 16v Corrado and the VR. Great on the 16v, on the VR they were sh1te. Think Kevhaywire recommended the Bridgestones to me.
  21. And Craig Inskip wins going backwards over the line in his Mk4 Turbo! :D
  22. Sky Sports 2 Sky Channel 402 Some Corrado VR6's in there against R32's and TDi's. Ken Lark in a VR6 Rado was in pole position on the starting grid. Sadly had to pull off the track as he dropped oil all over it!
  23. My mate's the sales manager at a local large Seat dealership. It's a crime the money he trades cars in for. They have no interest in anything over 3 year old, so they stick £100 on what they've paid for it and sell it to other traders. Example: 1997 VR6 Golf Highline. Metallic black, 87000 miles, FVWSH, Leather, 16" BBS, A/C, full electrics. 1 owner from new. Traded in for £2200. Sold to trader for £2300. I was mighty p1ssed I missed that one. Easily worth £4000 private sale!
  24. Just tried Quinn Direct (thanks RooDBwoy!) They've beaten Elephant by £100 Fully Comp. Guess they can take pride of place in the pricing competition!
