I was advised not to buy a generic 2 or 4 wire Lambda by my mechanic friends. If I remember correctly a genuine one was about £60 from the stealers, once I negotiated some discount for being in the CCGB.

I'm looking for a nice Mk2 16v at the moment for a wee project. I've heard that there are quite a few good low mileage examples on the Isle of Man. Is there a local newspaper classifieds section or local version of Autotrader I can search online? What's the procedure for registering an IOM car elsewhere in the UK?

There are independant companies that can produce reports based on the DLVA's records. I wanted to find out the numbers of Corrados registered in Northern Ireland. Unfortunately, they were looking £400 to supply the info, so my enquiries stopped right there.

I got bulbs from GPC since I assumed they were VW only parts. Then I saw them for half the price in Halfords a week later! Doh!

Bit of an awkward job prying the clock unit out but doable. The bulbs are accessible from the back of the unit, they just screw out. Halfords sell the bulbs. It's worth replacing all of them at once.

These look like they're for post-facelift interiors. Older interiored Corrado handles can be had from http://www.trimsport.co.uk in striking silver. As far as I know, chrome handles aren't readily available for the newer style interior. Mk3 Golf ones look similar but aren't quite the same fit. Count me in for a set Niko, as long as they don't cost a fortune.

Don't forget, I've a de-cat and ported throttle body too Pablo :) After you left I ran my other VR6 with the MAF disconnected just to see what happened. As expected, it wouldn't idle at all. I had to hold it at about 1000RPM to keep the engine running. There was quite a strong whiff of petrol too. Presumably these are the same symptoms a dead MAF exhibits?

Surely you can buy a Pioneer ISO converter so you don't have to snip the wires on the original multiplug? This is a pet hate of mine as every VW I've bought has had the stereo loom butchered by previous owners. :mad:

Have you changed the dizzy cap and rotor arm? Always worth a try as they only cost about a tenner and take 2 mins to change. I had similar problems starting my old 16v which these cured.

Just goes to show how few 100,000 units really is. How many RX8's will still be on the road in 16 years time? (I like RX8's by the way) 8)

Yup, the guy could at least of cleaned the engine bay before putting it on the market. Or is he hiding something? :shock: No sunroof is a bad thing in my opinion, but then again it is ONE less thing to go wrong. The headlining should be easy enough for an upholsterer to repair, might be worthwhile getting a quote and bargaining him down somemore. Personally, I wouldn't pay any more than £1800 and that's only if the bodywork and wheels are immaculate. -

The row's still going strong on there! :shock: Thanks to Kev, Storm and anyone else from here that's contributed so far. 8) Things like this remind me of how luck I am to have found the Corrado Forum. Seems to me that most others, Club GTI included, are full of twits talking nonsense.
