Err Corrado wasn't made in Wolfsburge, so I wouldn't get one of them ;)
-
Have you been reading Max Power again Kev? :?
-
I'm suprised that Mr Haywire hasn't chipped in... he's got one that was good for transporting an entire fence, so it should be up to the job. No idea what it is or where it came from though.
-
And damn sexy they are too 8)
-
http://www.sparkplugs.co.uk are a good (and damn cheap) place to get em from. The Iridiums don't give any better performance, but last forever, which I would guess is rather useful if you've got a Shrick...
-
ha, what Kev failed to mention was the 2 dremel blades he snapped and the 'metal fatigue' method he them employed with his pliers!! its ok though, it all looks fine now and no knocking even on the standard mount. You need to get some pics of that up... I bet you have half the bonnet removed to fit it under there on a standard mount?
-
The calipers had better fit :)
-
Well TBH, as long as they get me home again I'm happy. I must say I do like the idea of the no-call out discount from the RAC though. I'll see what other people have to say before making a decision...

As I don't currently have breakdown cover, it's only going to be a matter of time before I need it. Can anyone recommend a service that gets you and your car home again? I'm not too bothered if it's not the cheapest as long as they're reliable!

I think it's just the flat bits that face forward on the reflectors that he has painted, so these aren't aiding the lighting anyway. Are you going to put proper BMW lights in, or one of those kits from ebay? I've heard that those kits are a bit pants and aren't bright enough...
-
Yup, they're complete crap. People have tried to use them to send us stuff at work and on numerous occasions we've had them call up saying they can't find us a good few hours after stuff should have arrived. It's only then that they realise they've sent stuff to Newport in WALES not Essex... f*$£* muppets. As a one off I could believe it, but it happened about 3 times before we told people never to use them again.

I don't think there's much difference in the actual electrical performance, but more expensive ones will last longer as they're of a higher build quality.
-
Hammer!??!?! Now that would make me nervous. Pecision Dremel work is nothing compared to that :)
-
I was gonna say that pic looked suspiciously like E38, you shoulda come along and said hi :)
-
Oh yes, good point. A proper caliper winder from Halfords (about £15 I think) will save you a lot of hassle when putting the new pads in.
-
The most important thing you need is a can of PlusGas, I really can't recommend it enough. Douse every nut and bolt that you plan on removing with the stuff the night before you want to start work. dr_mat, your bearings should be fine as long as you don't wail on the disc too hard. It's nothing compared to the abuse they take when you're blatting down a back road ;) It's also the only way they'll come off... Putting new disks on is pretty easy, it's the removal that's hard, especially if the bastid retainer screw needs drilling out (apparently it's highly likely to be stuck). I'd be inclined to slap copper slip over most things to make sure they don't corrode together again. Lastly, take it easy after you change the pads, especially if you're using the Pagid FR ones because they take a fair bit of bedding in and you don't get a lot of braking power until they have.

Good stuff, I'm just happy the how-to guides are going to be of use to people :) I have another couple that people have sent me that need putting up too.
-
The semi-complete (hmm I really should finish it) how-to guide on replacing your top mounts also includes the front brakes, so might be of use to you. It's on a VR rather than a valver, but I don't think there's that much of a difference?

I got some P21S stuff with my order a while ago, so I'm going to give that a go once the C is back from the 'shop.
-
must have had an ex-Karmann employee there then.............IIRC the paint on new Corrado's was always noted for the orange-peel effect  Well I had a look at the rear quarter panel on all of the C's I saw at E38 at the weekend and nearly all of them had a slight ripple in the paint, both original and re-sprayed ones. But then the front wings are nearly all a perfect mirror finish. Tis rather odd.
-
I don't see why the actual units won't fit, you may have some issues with pipework if it goes anywhere near the drving controls though?
-
Ah is what you want are purple window tints - they look sooo cool
-
Good point... how do I check that? Just prise up the rubber and see? Should be pretty noticeable, it certainly was when the lazy w#nkers tried it on my first 'approved' repair. Just look for overpainting on the edge of the rubbers at the bottom edge of the rear window seal and lower edge of front window rubber trim at top of door, if they have just badly masked up to the rubbers instead of removing or lifting the rubber a bit, should be easy to spot. Ok cool, will do. I'm gonna go over it all with a magnifying glass before I cough up the excess, but specific points to look for are always good.
