What on earth were they thinking with a bonnet scoop like that
-
I'd def remove all traces of the can repair, then fill and prime as needed, no reason you can't get a good finish if you take your time. I'd do a half primer half colour blow over to see where the high and low spots are too.
-
Weak motors, worn seals on the air flaps, plastic flap drive cogs jumped and slipped boden cable sleeves in their securing clips are all a possibility have a look in the wiki/knowledgebase
-
I guess that's why you can by a kilo no questions asked, my dad got some hydrochloric to clean a pewter candlestick on advice from an antiques dealer, the chemist asked so many questions I think they thought he was disposing of a body or something
-
We should do some deal with each other on things like this people always meet up at shows etc at some point, makes me laugh the inflated prices some 'breakers' are chancing their luck for though
-
Does sound like wheel balance, usually evident around 60, have you lost any obvious wheel weights? Could be cv or bearing related I guess
-
 be interesting to see what it goes for, I picked up two parcel shelves for 1.60 the other day  So not everything goes for corrado tax prices :)
-
Are you sure it's not just how It's supposed to work? I mean on my 8v one turn of the key opens the drivers door and two opens everything ???
-
That looks really grim, nasty place to get bad corrosion, anything can be sorted but I haven't seen many that bad, it's where the sill section meets the inner wing and bulkhead so whatever you do get it fixed by an expert
-
good luck :) never actually done pipes myself but Jim assured me once it's quite therapeutic making up the lines :) how cool is that de-ox stuff?! must have a go at that, wire brushing everything to bare steel makes such a mess and although I thought about grit blasting I think I'd make even more of a mess with that  did you roughly wire brush the parts first then cook them?

go to ECP, cheaper and genuine contitech belts, about 12 quid IIRC mine was the same length as the original on the car (held them side by side), but a little tighter to get on while you are at it check the pulleys are all parallel, especially the PAS one, once I shimmed these straight everything ran so much quieter.
-
only way to find out is to open her up, usually though if it's picked up on the bores and the pistons are scored it will be rattling pretty bad.
-
easy enough to remove the pump (although the screw lids on the tank are very tight) and check the float operation and gauge level, just reach in and twist the pump and it comes straight out.
-
the late 70L tanks sit quite low and the straps can be seen from the back quite easily, I think I'd prefer painted or powder coated to bare stainless or it might look a bit odd, like a rear valance is missing or something.
-
it's under more load stationary, that's why the pump will complain or the belt will slip but not when moving, anyone who's tried driving a non-pas mk2 golf will know how heavy the steering can be manouvering the car at low speed and the corrado is basically the same setup but with more weight up front.

most coil packs or individual (on top of plug) coils seem to crack their insulation/resin through the continuous cycle of heat and cold on an engine, and then with the insulation broken down, moisture gets in, they short and die.
-
no, it definitely says 'stand here'
-
It's a pita but I did mine by standing on it too  ideally with a helper to slip the belt edge on
-
I've just noticed the 1994 details have the G60 listed  I guess the info was published in 1992/3 at the facelift and stayed in print until the end of production.

Most corrados are like that there sadly, it rusts underneath the underseal and gets quite bad before it becomes noticeable, something everyone should check.
-
what are the late (170ps) V5's like then? Must be similar power to weight ratio as the 4 mo
-
Nice specced cars with a lovely engine but they're just so heavy, and wallowy on standard suspension, they improve a lot with it uprated though.

How much stuff has been written on the C forum?

Ok I was bored at lunch today, but i'm not counting the words everyone has posted  although i'm sure something could be scripted, there's a fair few of us averaging a couple of posts every day for years though
