  1. hmmm maybe its worth uprating all of them then?? also look at the close ups of the solid mount on pg1....
  2. couldnt have put it better myself! 8) its something that people need to know about, Other problems may also be solved with issues like this being brought up as its proof that there is a difference. i just added a few more piccies on pg 1
  3. tell me this, would you rather i kept all this to myself and not tell anyone??? Atleast you know to get the car checked out? rather than finding one day the whole lot has failed.
  4. Please read page 1, I am not going to mention any names, its not my place to say so, they have a reputation to maintain. i dont want to shit stir , iam just trying to help out / gauge an opinion, so that similar failures do not occur.
  5. Yeah it is a bit of pain in the arse but i have got in contact so will wait for a reply. But atleast it may answer a few questions as to why there are a few unsuspected failures. But in the mean time anyone with a solid mount get it checked out.
  6. Its quite a well known company on here, without a bad rep, so i will get in touch with them first maybe
  7. My car is in with Darren @ G-werks at the moment to have a few bits done and i asked him about a crack in my engine mount bracket and that it was cracking along the mating face between mount and bracket and not along the weld, which we thought was quite strange?? Anyway after getting off the phone to daz today he had discovered that my solid engine mount was 20mm!! shorter in height than it should be compared to OEM and the BBM solid mount, this would explain the strange position of the crack as the engine wasnt sittng properly at all, which could be quite dangerous as it meant the engine was sitting lower than it should @ an angle and not evenly spreading out the load distributuon when the engine was under load. which may even have an effect on the oil in the sump as the engine is sitting at an angle. Now i am not going to name names in terms of the company that sold the mount to me, as i dont think its my place to say, but i may make them aware of this. But what i will say is if you have a front solid engine mount on your car get it checked with either an OEM mount or maybe BBM solid mount, as a similar thing may happen to you. Darren has comparison pics and i will post them up when he emails them to me so you can see the difference. ***Just been on the phone to the company selling these, being Very understanding and willing to answer any queries i had. must admit i do feel a bit harsh on posting the topic up before talking to them first and i didnt intend to cause any disbelief towards the company. Anyway the general answer is that the solid mount itself will not cause any damage to the car istself, and there are varying designs out there but the offending items are the brackets and mounts that the solid mount sits on itself, most of these are 15+ years old, and are pretty shagged out. I think the only answer for people that have these mounts and intend to buy them is to uprate the bracket that the solid mount bolts too, or buy a new one, at the end of the day these brackets where only designed for a car with 160bhp and not 200+ bhp. With tuning there are advantages and disadvantages, the solid mount i had fitted onto my car did an excellent job, but the disadvantage is that it puts a hell of alot more stress on other parts of the car which may fail over a period of time, this is mainly due to the fact that most components on our cars are over 12 years old and most of our cars are not exactly standard. So please not to cause any heartache Either get a new bracket or uprate your existing one. The company reassures me that they have sold many of these mounts with any major problems caused and they even run them on their own heavily modified cars with out any problems.***
  8. Your Dials look awesome, and the rev lights are wicked! nice work 8)
  9. looks like i beet darren to it! just found this old thread. http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36031&highlight=exhaust
  10. its alright.... I just checked it! seems to be ok, i checked the level on the dip stick when the thermo for the cooler opens and the level is at just under full on the dip stick so looks like i am getting worked up over nothing! 8) i seem to remember slightly over filling it to accomodate cooler when i last did my oil change. lol
  11. hmmm... i ve been running it for a few thousand miles at the vw specified oil level!! is half a litre likely to cause much damage to the bearing shells??
  12. I was thinking about this the other day, now that i have a mocal oil cooler on the g60 do i now have to put more oil into the engine than previously specified by vw? Surely when the oil is flowing through the cooler its taking it from the sump?? therefore when warm the oil level in the sump will be lower as its flowing into the oil cooler aswell? which may cause problems? Can anyone shed some light on this?
  13. how hard is it to fit these poly rear bushes? i ve got a set in my garage that hav been there for months awaiting fitment! :-) ?You dont fancy fitting them for me darren ? ;-)
  14. Henny, what is your overall opinion of the system? Was it as much of a pain to fit as the miltek i am still having problems getting to fit properly a year down the line!
  15. having had my miltek on my car for a year now, i am certainly not happy with the fit! its crap, its never perfect and vibrates againt the chassis, i found it almost impossible to get the system to fit properly. I think iam going to save up for a different system, maybe a g-werks system?... after i have my stainless manifold fitted :)
  16. phew! didnt really fancy a last minute dash to the stealers before the car goes to G-werks next week :)
  17. well its already in my garage having just spent £80, i guess i will have to take the risk and get the LUK clutch fitted.. how much is a VAG Vr6 clutch?
  18. Quality cant wait to see some updated piccies! especially with the Porshe wheels on! should look awesome :) should go quite nicely aswell!
  19. hope these VR6 sachs / LUK cluches arent that bad i am about to get one fitted to my G60!
  20. i am not sure how important it is but i only use "quantum synta silver oil" the stuff vw use , that can also be got from GSF, it may be worthwhile changing the oil and filter?? when did you last change it? it may also pay to get the motor checked out by the likes of Darren at G-werks, there isnt much he doesnt kow about G60s!
  21. you may be lucky and may only require the bottom end bearing shells replacing?? which is fairly easy to do actually. mine started to go at 80000 miles! G60 bottom end shells are apparently quite weak and dont flow enough oil. i replaced mine with golf TDI bearing shells which are uprated! not totally sure what the part no. is for them! i am sure someone will jump in and supply the correct number.
  22. that air box looks really cool! i would probably get one even if it didnt do much for extra power!
  23. it really does depend on what you want from the car?? there is probably an endless list of mods that can be applied... Your best bet tho depending on budget is a flowed head and cam maybe?? The G60 golf intercooler upgrade is also a very worthwhile mod...
